I’m working on a piece using polymer clay, that is intended to be submerged in water. It’s a mock wet specimen, so it will stay in a jar of water permanently. While I was intending to bake it, The texture and look of the unbaked clay is perfect as is, however will it degrade over time if submerged? I’m a novice to polymer clay so any advice is appreciated!
When I go on Amazon and look up polymer clay the first thing that comes up are $20 packs of about 2 dozen or so colored clays. Are these worth it? Anyone have experience working with them
Hi...I'm new here...hello! O e of my recent pieces...
I'd like to start doing polymer clay art (I used plasticized in the past, and want to start using polymer clay so it can harden)
But idk wich is the best, so I'd like to hear what you guys have to say
I should also add that I live in Portugal, do would need shipping to be available for me
I want a small, bakeable base that can stick well to the natural stickiness/oiliness of raw clay. This is so the creation doesn't move while I'm working on it, and so I can bake it without moving it from the surface.
I was thinking about buying a stainless steel sheet and cutting it into squares because raw clay sticks sooo well to steel which is what I want.
But it's cheaper and easier to buy small ceramic or glass tiles. Does ceramic stick as well to raw clay? I tried putting raw clay on bowls and cups (which kind of have a similar texture) and the clay doesn't stick like it does to polished steel. :(
What do you think?
Looking for some constructive feedback on these strawberry and cherry earrings I just made. I'm very new to this! Thank you 💕
Heyy, I have found a few people selling nice texture rolls and cutters but they are either located in the US or Australia. I was hoping someone here would know where I could find high quality cutters and polymer clay tools in Europe. I'd like to avoid dropshippers where possible 💜
Any ideas what happened to the ears? I cooked according to the instructions 😭
The he is in a jar
Wtf happened here?! It looks like someone literally sprayed it with alcohol ink? 😭 I always thoroughly condition my clay especially when using mica powders and alcohol inks… what am I doing wrong?
yeah
Just curious how everyone stores their products, specifically earrings? I’ve started a business and I am running out of room for all my creations! Currently have homemade drawer dividers and am storing them in a couple drawers but I’m quickly filling them up. It’s also not ideal to quickly access them. Would prefer something that doesn’t break the bank, either.
I've been using polycrylic, but because it's so runny, I find it pools at the bottom if I use too much. Do people usually skip glazing the bottom or do you let the top dry and then do the bottom?
So I've only used polymer clay a handful of times and don't know much beyond "different clay types for different crafts". I'm looking to make small charms (size of a twoonie or smaller) or round beads (16mm~), I'm just not sure what clay would be best for what I'm doing.
Also just to be clear I'm in Canada.
How can I “fix” imperfections on a sculpture after it has been baked? I read somewhere that you can sand it but I noticed that doing this leaves scratch marks behind and discoloration….
Also what type of paint can I use on a sculpture after it’s baked- to add details
Lastly, after it’s baked is it recommended that I use as a finish on the clay- to keep it from getting damaged…
So far I have used Sculpty III and the Hobby Lobby brand (that is now apparently discontinued)…
Any help is greatly appreciated!
(The actual eye part is made of acrylic)
first real time trying to make something with clay. started simple, not super proud but here’s to more practice 🤞🏼 just gotta bake and finish
Hi!
Getting these ripples after using UV resin. The ripples seem to be between the resin and polymer, you can't feel them on the surface. I use a small torch to pop the bubble.
Any ideas how to avoid this? Perhaps torch created them? I don't get them always, but quite often. Can't seem to figure out what's wrong.
