PolandballArt is not for comics but very artsy polandball things.

RULES (Read in full here)

  1. You must follow the official polandball tutorial. Art pieces cannot contain signatures, and must look like they were drawn in MS paint.
  2. Art can only be a single panel.
  3. Only use dialogue if it makes sense aesthetically (caption, sign, etc...).
  4. Art must be high effort.
  5. Do not use fantasy flags.
  6. We strongly discourage the use of tracing.
  7. Trying to dodge a /r/polandball mod's rejection of your approval request by posting your rejected comic/picture on /r/polandballart is a bannable offense.
  8. Titles should be of the artwork, not about yourself.
  9. Drink wine and scoff at people who you think are below you.

[Contest] A Study in Monochrome

Greetings Detectives, 1-Bit Artists and Old School Filmographers!

With the world seemingly becoming a gloomier place, we have decided to cheer everyone up with a contest that only allows even gloomier pieces. As such our contest theme is:

Create an artwork in Black and White!

Specific Contest Rules

  • No colours other than black, white and grey. Try to minimise greyscaling, with no more than 5-6 colours, preferably only 2-4 colours.
  • Try to incorporate themes that would make sense to be in monochrome For example try pixel art, black and white photography, line art, abstract art, Lithographs or Noir themes. If you can't think of anything, try getting some inspiration from colouring pages.

Examples

You can take inspiration from some of these polandballart and real life paintings for this contest:

This month's theme has also been done before in September 2018, so make sure to check out this list to see entries from that contest!

General Contest Rules

  • You must follow the official polandball tutorial.
  • Remember that in /r/polandballart all posts must have only one panel.
  • Only use dialogue if it makes sense aesthetically (caption, sign, etc.).
  • Try and be high effort. You have two whole weeks to draw, so do your best.
  • The artwork must be drawn entirely by yourself.
  • Do not sign your artwork.
  • The deadline for submitting your entry is Friday, May 3, 2024 at 20:00 GMT.

In order to participate in the contest, submit your art piece to the subreddit and then flair it as contest entry. Anyone is free to submit how many entries they like, however, only one of your entries will be eligible to award you with a beret. That is, a single user cannot have more than one entry be in the top three.

Choosing the winner

After all of the entries have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the moderators will take a private vote to decide the first, second and third places. All entries will be ranked from 1 to 10, with the final score being the average of all votes. The winner of last month's contest will also be allowed to vote on this month's entries.

The user who takes the first place in the contest will be awarded the Golden Beret and will have their art piece decorating the sidebar of the subreddit until the next contest is announced! They will also be able to post their winning work on /r/polandball using a special Polandballart flair.

The highest-scoring non-mod will also have voting rights for the next contest.

The second and third places will receive the Silver Beret and the Bronze Beret, respectively, and they will also get to wear them until the next contest.

Any questions about the contest may be directed here. We wish all the contestants luck!

Cheers,

the /r/polandballart modteam
