Hello! The beginning of May 2024 is a season of holidays: 1st of May, followed by Flag Day, followed by Constitution Day, followed by the weekend. (Flag day is not a "real" holiday, more a memorial kind of day, shops are open, but lots of offices are closed.)
I had expected the 1st of May to be holiday like e.g. Christmas day. But my neighbor started mowing the lawn at nine in the morning. I argued with him and he said that only church holidays are "silent" holidays, while state holidays are just days without going to work, so you can work in the garden.
I actually called the police about it and they even said that no holiday is "silent". Poles respect the Catholic church and so they keep silent on Sundays and church holidays, but there is no law against making noise at any time at all. If you make noise at night, neighbours can complain, of course, but it is never illegal to make noise.
Is that true?
I’m flying to Poland next week and besides running errands would love to do some shopping… looking for recommendations on some places with gadgets, outdoor gear, leather work, pens (rotring) as well as traditional restaurants or bars… I will be in the Rzeszow/Krosno area…
Hi everyone. Recently my friends and I found out there's a big discount for transport in Krakow if you're a tax payer (in that specific city) and do the appropriate paper work.
Do you know if this is the same case for other cities?
My BIK score is non existent. Is it good or bad? And how to remedy it if it is bad?
Are any theatres in Poland going to show Star Wars Episode 1 on May 3rd for its 25th anniversary as it’s re-release?
I asked if the guy who spends whole days there and only there is some kind of agent.
I am working in an international and have a planning to move Warsaw/mokotow . I have good skills for improving e-commerce sales but I read a story so I want to take a freelance jobs also related seo and growth but not sure would it be a problem for tax related when I came Poland ?
I had a pharmacist tell me that a drug I recently filled was recalled, when I tried to buy the second box I was prescribed.
Is it possible to check somewhere why it was recalled, in case it was a bad or dangerous batch?
I’m a bit confused (and waiting for an appointment with a specialist), but I thought I would reach out to the community to see if anyone has advice.
If my partner is from the UK, do they NEED a Visa-D to stay in Poland longer than 90 days?
Are they not able to arrive, and then apply for a TRC when already in the country, without a visa? (lets say on the basis of work)
Just seems like an additional step which perhaps isn’t necessary so I’m looking for some clarity.
Thanks!
Hello, I am a Polish Citizen who will be moving to Poland indefinitely with my wife to be.
I was wondering if the family reunification visa Wroclaw voivoide office link (PL) is her best option to get residency before becoming a citizen herself. Is that her best choice or is another visa better?
Anyone who has any experience bringing their spouse to Poland is welcome to share any kind of experience or advice about the process as well, thank you all.
I am thinking about buying a car. I never owned one so I don’t know too much about it. What’s the best car for quality/price ratio as of now ? My budget would be ideally between 60-80k. Can i find anything new in this price range?
Hello everyone.
I am currently living in Poznań, but for work reasons I have to move to Gdansk.
Since I dont want to take "whatever comes" - I wanted to stay in Gdańsk for a few weeks so I can visit different appartements before making a decision- but for the coming months hotel prices are simply too expensive.
When renting a single room on for example Otodom - does it usually also involve a one year contract like renting a whole appartement?
Or when it comes to renting rooms is it rather easy to stay short term ?
Recently, almost all offers, at least in Warsaw where I'm looking, are insisting on occasional rent agreement authorized by a notary (najem okazjonalny). The problem with this type of agreement is that the tenant needs to provide a replacement address (in case of evacuation). I don't have anyone in Poland whom I can ask for this favour. Are there any workarounds for this? Maybe other foreigners have been through the same issue and have something to suggest.
For example:
I'm not Ukrainian btw (I read that citizens of Ukraine are exempt from this condition).
I'm trying to buy tickets online for my trip to the castle. I live in the US Every single time I try to make the purchase, przelewy24.pl breaks down. I see the charges on my credit card but they seem to get cancelled. I tried Google pay, I tried different CC. I am loosing my mind. I'll call my CC to double check but is this known issue? Anybody experienced it too? Any solutions?
I was able to book a lot of things in Poland with those credit cards so I am just confused why Wawel?
This is probably the dumbest post I have ever done. Will delete if this doesn't fit.
I had a convo with a friend and he said he was moving to the west (Germany, Nordics, etc) because he believed that their societies have better fundamentals (mindsets, liberty, etc), so it seems to be a better place for a total personal development.
Coming from a 3rd world country, I couldn't ask for more, but I'm curious to find out from perspective of Polish why you won't decide to move to the west for a better personal endeavour, and why should foreigners stay instead of opting out.
Hello everyone,
I am seeking a recommendation for an accountant who is fluent in English and knowledgeable about the legal aspects of establishing oneself as a sole trader for non-EU citizens. I would greatly appreciate any assistance, as finding an accountant I feel confident in has proven to be quite challenging. Additionally, if you have had positive experiences with any incubator or umbrella companies that offer reasonable fees for B2B contracts, I would be interested in hearing about them as well.
Thank you all, and have a wonderful evening!
With energy drinks now requiring you to be 18 to buy them on par with alcohol, does that also mean public drinking is not allowed anymore? Can I of legal age be coming back home from the store drinking a red bull on the way and have police stop me and tell me I have to hide it or throw it away?
I recently moved to Warsaw and just got an apartment. The new place doesn't have an existing wifi connection with the owners name. I know that getting one in my name is essentially a lifetime commitment cuz they would never let me cancel.
I already have an Orange Flex Sim Card that comes with an additional data sim. Does it make sense to just buy an LTE router and use it as my home wifi ? I can up my plan to more GB per month. The only real usage I have for it are my smart appliances (roomba, lights, fan), and a chromecast for some netflix.
Is there any alternative that would work better ? I just don't like the idea of spending a lot more on a second internet connection when i barely use my mobile data. I currently pay for 30gb, and usually have 28gb leftover at the end of the month
The road tho>>>>>
I live in the US and I'm trying to buy an apartment in Poland so I can live there permanently (yes I have Polish citizenship). It's annoying trying to contact real estate agents by email since they almost never respond to emails (written in Polish). I've used whatsapp / viber to message some of them but a fair bit of them only list a general office number (hence no whatsapp / viber) or they don't respond because they think I'm a scammer.
It would be super helpful if I could get a polish voip number that requires only an internet connection and lets me call Polish landline and mobile phones. I tried contacting some companies but they said they only take large-scale commercial clients. Do any of you know of any voip phone plans that would allow me to have a Polish number while living in the US?
