I bought a physical Pokémon Crystal cart and when I save and soft reset the save file is still there but when I hard reset the save file is gone. Is that a dead battery or something else?

Started out with cyndaquil and beat the first gym.

I would love to only obtain 6 pokemon.

Which 5 would make most sense to beat the pokemon league, elite four and red ?

I’ve played HGSS but never Crystal. Any tips? Pokemon to use, items to get, etc.

I’m using Scyther in my current playthrough and I wanted to know how the interaction goes with evolving. Scyther learns Wing Attack at level 30 and Scizor learns Metal Claw at level 30. If I teach Scyther Wing Attack then evolve it at 30, will Scizor still learn Metal Claw? I just wanted to know to have peace of mind before going through with it so I don’t lose out on Metal Claw for Scizor.

I have a shiny ditto and am trying to hatch a shiny Staryu. I’m no expert on how the shiny breeding works in this game. I have seen people say in other posts that shiny ditto has a 1/64 chance of a shiny but then I have seen that for certain Pokémon, like any of the starters, the chances for a shiny are 1/128 (this could be wrong, again I’m not an expert) My question is for a Pokémon like Staryu or Magnemite (ie without a gender) are the chances for a shiny still 1/64?

Alright guys I made a post earlier regarding Arcanine but I think I’ve resolved that. Instead I wanna mix my Arcanine a bit more and either give it Dig, Earthquake or Dragon Breath in addition to Crunch.

I have Feraligatr which will take Dig (if Arcanine gets Earthquake), and generally fills the same role as Arcanine being a mixed physical attacker (just in that case water not fire).

Feraligatr will def get Hydro Pump, Dig/Earthquake, Return/Iron Tail and maybe Ice Punch.

Arcanine Flame Wheel, Crunch, Extreme Speed and the aforementioned Dig/Earthquake/Dragon Breath.

Thoughts? Kinda leaning toward giving it Dig but it’s special is kind of high for an Arcanine so maybe it wouldn’t be bad to go special heavy.

I really want to buy a copy of Crystal but as everyone in this sub probably knows they are REALLY expensive. I'm considering a reproduction but I wanted to know if the link cable functions would still work with it.

Has anyone tried this before?

I know there's a lot of random and strange decisions that Game Freak made in these games, but im now finding out after finally getting to the ice cave. Feraligatr cant learn Waterfall????

Ive spent years defending this game but after playing it again 20 years later with a new perspective and adult brain, they really didnt know what they were doing lol

Title. I grabbed Arcanine as my Randomizer run’s next Pokémon and I want to breed it with a good move set. I want crunch on there, but body slam also for its high attack stat. If I can’t have both that’s fine I’ll pick one but if I can, lmk. Thanks!

I always played firered and emerald over and over (done all the gb/gbc/gba games once at some point) and i always like the roms that are made with some QoL additions but not a lot of in game story changed (some added Pokemons so it's easier to complete Dex/give no need to trade are fine). F.e. exp share early or team exp share, reusable tm's, options for a randomized/nuzlocke kinda things is what i am looking for. Is there a rom for crrystal to give that? Without messing with the actual game itself?

When I first played Crystal and meet Silver I always assumed he was a she. Yes I know the game indicates he is a boy but as a kid I didn't read anything so for the longest time my crush was a boy lol. Alway love my boi Bugsy!
