Promt: Girl in love with guy friend called dibs on
The city of Reeds had always been at war with the City of Bend off and on for generations. It was normal for a peace to be called and the two small cities exchange a few years of friendship before the fight would start again.
The young soldier girl sat with her back against the wall, awaiting for the soldier of the other side. The two had been developing a deep friendship over the course of the past few months, just talking over the wall. It was pretty safe to say that this was love. Funny. Her. Of all people! In love with an enemy soldier. Not uncommon in their world, but funny non the less. Today was the day they would actually see each other face to face for the first time. Darren Warrner had gained permission to join in on peace negotiations, and was to meet her on her side of the wall. Same place, same time. As she waited her mind drifted back to memories of her childhood.
Elize Faun of Bend and her best friend Misha knew from a young age that they wanted to join the fight and someday bring an eternal peace between the two cities and not fabricated breaks. In their 14th year they two were apart of a trip to see the other city and attend their school. That is where that pompous, entitled, jerk Riels Smith the III had made his appearance.
"I swear Elize," Misha told her best friend, "When the next war starts I'm going to make Riels my person prey. I call dips on his life."
Misha was convinced thay the death of Riels was the best way to end the war. Not just because of his terrible personality, but the political status his family held. Elize didn't really care either way. Riels wasn't exactly pleasant, nor was he as bad as Misha said. However, seeing her friend so lively made Elize smile and she wished her friend good hunting. It was over ten years later and Misha had still not given up her resolve.
"Hey, good looking stranger," a familiar voice said in it's ever teasing fashion, snapping Elize out of her day dreaming, "I'm suppose to be meeting the girl of my dreams here, can you give me some directions?"
The overwhelming amount of joy and excitement that threatened to bust out Elize's chest sank hard to the pit of her stomach as she turned to finally see the face of the man. How could she be so stupid? How did she not see it? She knew, but never put together. There, before her, was Riels Darren Warren Smith the III. The one she adored, and the man who's life her best friend had called dibs on.
