A place to talk about to PlayStation Remote Play device PlayStation Portal

Got a toddler and a second kid on the way, did some trials with remote play app on BG3 this weekend and I can definitely see a use case for a Portal, especially now I know it's stick modules are a lot easier to replace then the Dualsense. Saw someone say on a post that the experience is dependent on a number of factors including jitter, so here is my typical speed test result (BBC iPlayer is also being used at the same time for kids TV). Is this sufficient to get a decent portal experience?
Also with Black Friday coming up is there any retailer that will either price match to Black Friday deals or let you return a used Portal and buy a new one on the Black Friday deal?
This game is truly a showcase of the dualsense controller, and also pretty fun!
Whipped out the hotspot at a Tesla charger and was surprised I could actually play nearly anywhere while my PS5 is at home. Some footage in the firing range to show 5G latency is viable even for FPS's like the new COD. My mind is pretty blown at how far remote play has come. I imagine this thing with mobile starlink during a road trip would work just as well if not better
See you online soldiers 🫡
Does the portal have less connectivity issues than remote play? In your experience which one is better pure streaming.
Thanks in advance
Will it go on sale on Amazon or Walmart and for how much?
Bonjour, je suis chauffeur routier et je pars du lundi au vendredi, je voulais savoir si la PlayStation Portal fonctionnait bien à distance, et si vous pouvez m’expliquer comment bien faire ?
witcher 3 is terrible....i can barely see anything its so blurry and slow
dead island 2 is perfect everything is clear.
My gf and I were thinking about gifting each other portals for Christmas since we both have ps5’s and we both play online together on separate consoles, so we thought it’d be worth it. I’m only concerned with latency and network issues. For example, we’ve been playing far cry 5 for some time now. My questions are: If we’re both playing next to each other on separate portals, on the same network, will we be able to play multiplayer games together the same way as when we play on our consoles? And considering our internet strength, will it be powerful enough for us to play online together, with us both using separate portals? Any help is kindly appreciated as the portals are a steep price to pay for the both of us. We both enjoy spending time in the living room with her family and her neck gets bad from holding her head to look at the screen because of her connective tissue disease, so I want to make sure this purchase is worthwhile as it would mean a lot to her and myself as well. Thank you Reddit and the members of r/PlaystationPortal :-)
I have blazing fast internet in my house, speed test verified. Whenever I’ve tried remote play with my phone it’s totally unplayable. Even just the home screen is janky. Does PSP somehow “stream better?” What am I missing?
Has anyone else noticed the their PlayStation portal switching to NAT3 after last update? I went through this months ago where I ended have to buy a new router to fix the issue which pissed me off since everything in my house is hardwired including my PS5. But now after going through months of dealing with Sony and Netgear and spending a couple hundred bucks on another router hardwired into my original router the issue was fixed NAT was set at 2 I had no more glitching no more connection issues but now it's all back.....
Birthday gift! Got a sweet deal at gamestop. So far! I am enjoying this. With great connection, playing COD BO6 online laying in my bed lol.. flawless!
Starting with these. Heard the skull and co. grips mentioned positively a few times. Staying away from anti-glare screen protectors due to people saying it blurs text and images. Is this a decent screen protector? And does anyone suggest different/better thumb grips?
Any success using portal on hotspot ? I really want one but only have access to hotspot from phone, no regular internet .
Does this seriously make a difference for the better? It’s not the biggest issue but kinda do miss having my console boot when using my media remote - also my tv doesn’t boot to the correct HDMI by default. Just seeing if anyone has any insight on confirming this or not.
Super annoying. Can see the wifi, get the qr code, connect through my phone, get on the wifi just fine. Then try to connect only to get "something went wrong" over and over again. Tried making a Hotspot on my phone and same result. I can connect to the Hotspot but always gets "something went wrong" when trying to connect. I have verified the ps5 is on and even had someone restart it. It is in rest mode. For every dozen or so "something went wrong" errors I get 1 "can't connect to your ps5". Since the portal offers no info beyond that I have no idea what is not allowing it to connect. The portal has full wifi, says connected. Just won't connect to my console. Super cool I got a $200 unit so I can play from my bed but not outside my house pretty much at all.
For those of you with experience playing both through remote play app, the portal and cloud streamimg - what were the differences in quality, smoothness and lag?
In my experience remote play is a bit laggy and compression is visible. Where cloud gaming directly on ps5 is almost identical to playing the game locally - very sharp and smooth.
I’m a bit suprised since my wifi is good (400mbps plus) and remote play was with ps5 hardwired. And cloud gaming was with it on wifi.
Whats your experience? Thinking about getting a portable, but dont want to of its unsharp/compressed and laggy.
Has anyone tried any of these non name brand case packages from Amazon.
I don't need any crazy heavy duty case it doesn't leave the house so this would be perfect for me.

Is it just me or has anyone else had to use the portal with their TV just as a controller? ITS EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Since I've had the ps5 I've gone through 2 controllers because of analogue stick drift. Now I'm just using the portal so I can watch the game on a big screen. Gone are the days when the old playstation controllers would last for a LONG LONG time.
Just recently bought the portal. Can't hear anyone on my headset. My friends can hear me on the mic but I can't hear them. Tried everything. Can't get it to work.
Just curious if I buy a portal
And my girlfriend wants to play gta so she can use the portal.. can I still play something else on my ps5?
Birthday present
I recently bought PlayStation premium to play the old god of war games and I wanted to play them in bed on my portal but I forgot you can’t stream streamed games. I remember a while ago they said it would be added in a later update, but have we heard anything about how soon it’ll happen?
Alright, so here’s s the situation. I'm a security officer at work for the electric company. I sit in a shack letting the walls close in on me. I desperately want to bring my portal, so I don't go insane .Here’s the problem. The portal obviously needs internet to access. My phone has a hotspot but not as strong. Iv been thinking of investing into a portable hotspot but always run into the review problems where they say it's not good and stuff and I doubt anyone at my site will give me some of that juicy fiber internet they're using. I need some help and suggestions. The gamer inside me is clawing at me to play video games on days when no one's around, especially on 12-hour shifts.
Hi guys, when my ps5 is on rest mode and I turn the psp on, the ps5 turns on, but the ps portal cant connect with the ps5, and keeps showing the log in screen, as shown in the image below. Could you guys please help?
I’ve been wanting to buy one for weeks, but before I do, I just want to know if Sony will restock the 30th anniversary version on Nov 21. or if it’s already sold out for good—should I just get a regular one or wait to see?
Trying to figure out if it works fine using it like that. I tried to use my phone with remote play with phone connection and it doesn’t even load the connection to the ps5. I do it from home and it connects immediately. Does the same issue come up with a ps portal?
