So I have just hit 400 hours of playtime, but at least a third of that time was spent viewing other people playing and simulating ai battles for testing so I could study. I have a problem.
I know this might sound very stupid, but I'm terrified to start a ranked match or join an FFA, and sometimes it's even hard to not procrastinate in trying a match for myself. I spend at least 20 minutes trying to gather the courage, and while I play, my hands grow shaky and adrenaline takes over my rational thinking.
Does ANYONE ELSE have this issue?
So I got this game a few days ago and I suck at it. My cousin and his friends showed me the ropes but beat me at every turn 24/7. Tonight I was actually doing really well. I'd gotten off world early game and established myself on an annihilator as well as my planet's moon. I built up a stable economy and mass produced a strong orbital army of avengers and omegas. So many units that it began to lag my computer just looking at my planet's orbit. We're over an hour into the match and my cousin is trying his luck at taking the annihilator. In response I send some omegas to slow him down and dig in on my moon and make Halley engines to destroy either the annihilator or his home planet. Then, as I'm in the Halley target selecter screen, I get too excited and click on my own planet forgetting it was mine. 2 seconds later I'm dead and that was the single worst throw of a match I've ever done in any video game ever. Genuinely never going to forget this
I was playing around with the map editor for the first time and was looking up how to make and adjust planet orbits. At some point I was able to accidently open the mass edit window and now I can't find it. How you do edit the mass of a planet? Is it a button? I could really use some help.
Hello fellow players.
I hosted a LAN Party this weekend and we figured, that we can play PA in offline mode. I have PA & PA:Titans on steam and shared the files localy. Regarding the official PA site, this will only work in offline mode(LAN). So far so good. I can play the shared game, but it only shows PA:classic. With my PC (where i have PA:Titans) it starts in Titan mode, but not on the other PCs. I have to change my game to classic mode in the gameplay menu to play with the others.
Since i have all the game files for PA:Titans. Is there a way to force the PA.exe to start in Titan mode? Some config or via a start option?
I haven't been online with my pc since the LAN Party. But as i switched from Classics to Titans mode, after the next start it alway startet in classic mode, without the option of switching back. That kinda sucks.
Is there an offline solution for this problem?
Is there a way to turn off patrol path. I did something now all my units patrol paths are showing and can’t turn it off.
I get this error with the 24.9.1 AMD drivers, not the first time that this game has problems with AMD drivers though. Any ideas why this happens? It is a bit frustating, always a bit scared to update the drivers because of this...
Whenever i start the game my monitor boosts color and brightness to crazy levels and it stays like that intil i restart my computer.
Hey, so i'm very new to the game and was wondering if it was possible to actually move orbital units to other planets in the system? I tried to move my 10 omega ships to another planet but apparently they don't seem able, which makes me wonder what the point of having a spaceship even is.
Is there any units that can directly move to another planet?

I'm losing pretty consistently to early game comwalkers, you know the ones that push com with a large contingent of Grenadiners behind them. Does anyone have tips to counter this more effectively?
If I bring my com in to defend, his grenadiers usually target me and I lose health faster. If I send vehicles they're losing to his com. Towers/artys aren't really effective for obvious reasons. Any help is appreciated!

All progress bars for things like making factories (or any other building) and factories making units are hidden. I've checked if this is an accidentally turned on setting, but I couldn't find anything. Is this just some hotkey that I've randomly press? Health bars are still visible and seemily every other UI, just buildling bars. I know it's minor, but it's a bit annoying having to guess a contruction's progress, so if there is a quick fix I would appreciate it.
This morning when i was gonna play my daily match against the pc i noticed that my commander have all factories from all faction, and i could build every one of them, clearly as this is an error i started to uninstall mods until i found the solution, but it come with another error
This time when i started another match, all factories are missing, and i could only build defenses, extractors, energy and the naval factory, i then noticed that if i uninstall the legion expansion mod the vanilla units will all appear in the unit tab in the community modification, But if a start a match i still have the same problem, i read in another post what it seemed to be a solution, but right now i have no mods, and just yesterday i did'nt have this problem, so i dont think is an update having conflicts with the mods,
If anyone have any idea or may know what is causing the problem, Pls tell me

Game stops when loading Mounting Client Mods. Does anybody know a fix for it?

I have mixed feelings about this kickstarter and want to see what everyone else is feeling. Planetary Annihilation was cool in a lot of ways, but the features that were missing were a lot what ended up making the game worse.
It didn't help that a lot of people requested flat maps, the devs refused it, and then made a kickstarter for a flat map RTS (human resources).
The Industrial Annihilation kickstarter is halfway finished but still hasn't hit its funding goal yet, so it seems like a lot of people are done with this developer. What do you think?
Tl;dr, I Don't get criticism of PA for lack of factions, because all games in the subgenre that feature different races, they all just basically reskins with slightly tweaked stats.
Case and point: supreme commander forged alliance. I played it with friends cuz they were like "it has 4 factions therefore it has more content and better" but as i said they all feel the same for me.
Experimental units are different, but not every fight even lasts long enough for you to use them.
It's not like warcraft or starcraft where races differ in how they collect resources, how they build stuff, and some have unique mechanics, and on top of that unique heroes. In case of "annihilation" subgenre, commanders could have been your heroes, so having them all also be just reskinks in supreme commander is also pretty bad look for the "more playable factions is better" argument.
I can only hope some game in the future will truly have DIFFERENT factions, but for now it's all always the same, so at least not needing to remember 4 reskin types to understand what building does at a glance is a plus for me rather than a minus.
Maybe switching different experimental units for different commanders might do the trick. Yeah, it's cool that i theoretically have an ability to build a big ass saucer if we play long enough, but if my command unit was already flying saucer, that would give that faction some personality!
Heya, a mate an myself got this game recently and all was going well until we got some mods, nothing crazy mostly ui things, legion and bugs. It worked for our first game however something went wrong, we could only build a few things off the bat and were restricted on what we could build the whole game. We went out of lobby, disabled a few mods, and now whenever we try to join eachothers lobbies it comes up with attempting to join, multiple times. It eventually times out and kicks us. We thought we had some mods that didnt work together so we went and disabled everything, still doesn't let us join lobbies. We slowly worked our way through most of the mods enabling them again and no luck, we cant join eachothers lobbies no matter what we do. We can join other peoples games however. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I cant see a way out of this.
One of the main things that put PA over other RTS games in my opinion is the spherical map allowing for funky troop movements and flanking maneuvers. I imagine a torus would allow for even funkier movements.

When I'm playing ranked it's almost as though the enemy is constantly sending orders to dox and other bot-raiders to target my Mex. They seem to have a cloud of single doxes, skittering around my side of the map, targeting any metal they see.
It feels like the enemy commander has put an area patrol order on to all these dox, who just keep roaming around my half of the map and lock on to any building they see. I can't respond to it because there's 20 of them doing it all over the map.
How do other players do this? Are they using the area patrol command? (I thought this made units prioritize patrolling around the area, as opposed to locking onto and killing things they see). Are they using the area attack command? Are they actually microing 20-40 single dox-es?
I've recently started playing the game and i really like it as it's somewhat similar to stronghold crusader (really old game), and i immediately realized how complex and difficult the game is. I'm the type of person that can only enjoy games that he's best at so i'm asking you guys if it's worth it to drop several hundreds of hours into the game without it becoming a TF2 situation. also is the ranked ladder working?
You know the drill - you're five minutes in to a 1v1 and you just airdropped two infernos into the enemy base. The enemy player seems to be asleep at the wheel because (for now) he hasn't responded to you. Your infernos just took down the only turret guarding the base. They're each at half health and have free rein of the base until the enemy player checks those "under fire" alerts and scrambles his units back to the base. What are your priority targets?
Do you go for the metal extractors first? The energy generators? The cluster of fabbers? The bot factories? The radar and anti-air turrets?
(Obviously this is an extremely situational question relying on too many factors to consider here; I just want to see what people generally go for.)
Trying to play with my family, for convenience I’m trying to friend them all together to play easier, putting two accounts into a game ending it and then going through recent and then sending the request has proven ineffective… any suggestions?

Just as the title says, I picked up the game during the summer sale and I’ve been enjoying it very much, more so with the Legion mod, but unfortunately i really don’t like how any of their commanders look, except for the Praetorian, which is the Auxiliary Commander they can make. Anyway to make that the main commander?
I installed this game because i saw some YT reviews that said the game got much better since the original PA days.
A day later i immedietely uninstalled it. I'm not much of a MP guy, so i started a SP campaign. It was cool first 2 or 3 times, but i quickly realized every single battle plays exactly the same.
Land on the planet, build metal extractors, build a land factory, build some drones while my commander builds some turrets, have drones build some generators. Send drones to capture and fortify clusters of metal extractors (which the AI barely contests) and build a bunch of pgens around them, and then just build a whole bunch of land factories and spam ants.
120+ ants seem to be perfectly able to zerg rush any enemy, only real improvement i was able to make was adding a few fighter escorts to stop bombing runs. Other than that every other tech was 100% pointless and waste of effort. I was building T2 tanks for awhile because i was stubborn but they really didn't do much for me but slow me down.
I think the way the maps work is the main problem here. Back in FA maps were flat, meaning there were many choke points one could fortify. That naturally means you had to get creative to break the enemy turtle. In PA that's not only not the case, it's impossible. There are way too many lines of attack on a sphere, it's next to impossible to fortify them all, even if the AI tried, which it doesn't. Naval is 100% useless, you can always go around the water, and each planet i saw, even if it had water, had such small, shallow puddles there was 0 reason to build a navy.
All that would not be terminal if there was something else to hold my interest, but there's really not. The story is non existant, with no real goal apart from killing everyone else, it's even baked into the lore that this is all essentially pointless. Ancient machines fighting wars for nations that have long since gone extinct.
Techs, apart from straight upgrades and basic air tech, were pretty much pointless, and since you have limited slots it's not even a game of "gotta collect them all". I was kinda hoping you could build a database of tech, and the tech slots would be just the tech you pick for this particular mission. Not that it wouild make much sense to swap techs out since every mission plays the same but at least it would be a fun challenge to collect all the techs.
No such luck, if i fill my slots i have to delete something to get the new tech, meaning i will only ever have as many techs as i have slots.
And that was the final straw, i closed the game and uninstalled it. It's a sad thing, i really hoped it would pan ouit to something in the end. Maybe MP is better IDK, but SP is a complete snoozefest.
