This band is true love.. been listening to placebo since I was 13. I’m 28 now … Does anyone have an idea if placebo will perform in 2025? I’m willing to travel anywhere they’ll be performing .
All right, last night I saw the documentary, may I add the mall and the cinema where it was shown sucks, but anyways.
To my surprise the theater was full, it was a small screening, 54 seats, i counted them myself, I really liked the interviews, its a nice chat that you sometimes feel like you want to join.
The David Bowie bits brought a tear to my eye, god I miss him so much.
The songs that they play are all Never Let Me Go, you can see some nice shots of the band, nice.
10 / 10 would watch again
stay after the credits for a surprise lol
I lost my life partner recently because drug addiction (long story short). We both were huge Placebo fans and we've the chance to see them live last march in Buenos Aires (I'm from Uruguay).
This ring was made from his ashes and with an old band T shirt from him. I always teased him for the state of the T shirt (almost desintegrated). The colors remind me the nights on vacation that we stare at the ocean, how the waves broke into the rocks...
My most favourite thing about the ring is the phrase in the inside "Soulmates never die".
I miss him so deeply, but through music and all the memories I feel he's beside me and I want to move forward in his honour.
Thanks for reading
BTW: English is not my first language, sorry for my mistakes
I discovered placebo when I was 11 and bought a dodgy cd in Ko Samui and I just listened to the album on repeat. Was when we had cd players. I liked the album cover of the once more with feeling.
Then in my teens whenever I was around and people asked what song to put on it was always 'placebo' when I was sleeping on floors.
I feel they've been there through everything. I had a ketamine addiction and gone into recovery for years and relapsed. But whenever I feel shit I go and walk down the beach and listen to Placebo - I've done it for years.
I literally have had this band be with me my whole adolescence and into adulthood through addiction and recovery.
I have no idea where I'm going with this bar just wanted to share.
I'd like to just shake Brian's hand and say an honest thank you. Placebo have been a huge part of my life. They made me not feel alone.
Hey,
Do you know if there are any infos on the Making of Sleeping with Ghosts (the Album)?
That could be a small documentary, pictures, studio gear, etc. I'm looking for some insights since this album is really singular in their discography.
Thanks!
Just leaving this here in case someone manages to record and save the Radio 6 Brian interview as I and I’m sure other people won’t be able to tune in :) thank you!
Title. Just moved here and I’m trying to meet people with similar interests! Just dm me if any of y’all are interested :)
Her name is Smuck. Is she hot?
I personally would love to hear more work from Digital 21 & Stefan Olsdal. Molko’s recent vocal work with Tinlicker was also pretty awesome.
What are the fans thoughts on their side work?
Hey all,
I was wondering whether any of you came accross a cover which sublimed both the band and the original placebo song?
And the song was stuck in my head for the whole evening 🙂
The movie is not set for screening in my country, and ever since hearing that Shirley Manson, Joe Talbot and Robbie Williams are featured in it I really want to watch it. Does anyone know if it’ll be available on streaming or something like that?
24 years since the release of Black Market Music (kinda late to the party), but it’s still October 9 around here!
I thought we should share our appreciation for this incredible album by discussing the impact it had on all of us :)
What’s your favorite song? A special moment this album evokes for you? Were you already a placebo fan when it came out? Or maybe you don’t like it and want to share why.
I’ll be reading your thoughts
My biggest regret is not seeing Placebo when they came to my country. They've only come to my country twice, and I know they will never return now. 😢
Is anyone else in the same boat as me?
Starring Channing Tatum.
Countries where the documentary will be shown are being added to the Placebo website! I hope more countries and cities make the list in the next weeks. So check in time to time! ;)
Anyone who has attended the documentary screening or might know anyway - how come there was not a single word about Steven Hewlit? Like he never ever existed at all and the whole project has always been a duo? Just wondering.
Upon arrival we were given wristbands and there was a red carpet photo area where a photographer took pics of attendees, mostly of the guest list I think. We then went into the screen room, which was set up with the goody bags on each chair.
Documentary time, the film featured a combination of interviews with the band, other artists, some precious older footage which they mentioned was from their archive, and footage of the band performing several songs from NLMG in studio. As each song was played the key theme around it was discussed in the documentary. They touched upon a lot of subjects, from personal to broader themes around mental health, substance abuse, relationships, politics, surveillance culture, the overall state of the world.. the other artists featured were Shirley Manson from Garbage, Yungblud, Joe Talbot, Stuart Semple, and Benedict Cumberbatch and a few more who all discussed Placebo’s cultural and musical influence over the years and well as how they impacted them personally. In the Q&A they were asked if they had pre existing relationships with all these artists and they said some yes and some were a surprise, like they didn’t know Benedict Cumberbatch was a fan prior.
There was a lot on their relationship with David Bowie, and how much that relationship taught them, especially Brian. It was very emotional and felt special to see some of the archive footage of them together. Brian later mentioned that he keeps 3 post-its on his bathroom wall, one that says be kind, the second I completely forgot sorry, and the third says David Bowie to always remind him of who he was, what a gentlemen he was will all people he encountered.
The part of the documentary that talks about substance abuse, Brian spoke about how it was a coping mechanism for him for a very long time. They showed footage of them being wasted and it was a bit hard to watch, at the same time giving us some very genuine, vulnerable moments of their journey. They later said in the Q&A that they had to step out of the screening for that part as it was too difficult for them to watch it again.
There was talk about politics, and how everything apart from our relationships is political. Also touched upon religion, and as always found it fascinating to get their views on these wider subjects. On the subject of religion, Brian quoted Bowie’s famous words “religion is for people who fear hell, spirituality is for people who have been there”
In the Q&A they expanded upon the above mentioned, and were also asked what’s next. Brian said he is going to hibernate for winter and that they will be taking a break so they can go away, be apart from Placebo for a while and come back ready for what’s next. More music, definitely.
Overall it was a really special evening, it was great to connect with the band in this different kind of way and the documentary is brilliant. I am hoping they will release it in their merch store, I believe all Placebo fans would enjoy it deeply.
For those interested, attending guests included Yungblud, Fiona Brice, the extended band of course, Angela, Nick and Matt, Cody and his band, and his mother Helena. There may have been more but these are the ones I saw personally
So we got some pics for the ones waiting, they look good!

Hello to you, dear soulmates! Who has already left the cinema where the documentary was shown, how did you like it? Please retell your impressions and facts from the film, I beg you! I am in Kazakhstan and I seriously doubt that the film will be shown in the local cinema. I only hope for your understanding and support.
