Today, I ordered doordash. In particular, I ordered a pizza from pizza hut. After all the fees, taxes, and other nonsense it totaled to 45.87.
Then, I was met with the tip page... and you know what I hit zero. ZERO!
These drivers, these servants... they exist to give me my food and nothing more. Why should I give them anymore money than needed after they've already gotten what they needed from all the fees?
I sat patiently, watching my driveway through the window. Then came my dasher. A young black woman. It looked like she had an infant in her car (single mother if I had to guess). As her rusty 06' Accord entered my immaculate yard (I take good care of my grass) I opened my door and watched as she struggled to carry my pizza, and soda with a look on my face that could only say (do my bidding).
As I got my food I felt alive. This person did not look happy that I left no tip, and you know what. I don't care. I don't care that pizza hut was only 5 miles from my home. I don't care that I could have gotten it myself, the fact of the matter here is that she signed up to drive for doordash. I didn't.
If you want a tip, I expect you to go above and beyond. Or better yet, get a real job.
Greetings and felicitations. Has anyone used a Smart Fortwo (or other two-seater) for delivery, and if so, how was it? I saw one tonight, and I'm just wondering.
I do t know what to say i started my shift at 10:30am it is now 5pm still delivering and ive made less than $14. I guess it is a thing to leave no tip and leave it at the door. Im so angry
Hey so I'm thinking of our a dash cam in my car. Any recommendations for a decent one?
We had 1 of our 2 drivers call out out tonight so they’re probably going to ask me to work. I’m trying to decide if it would be worth going in.
I just started working here. Why are all the drivers at dominos dropping like flies?
I have a main income and have years of food service and delivery experience. I’m looking for money on the side but I want it to be cash. Do independent pizza places still offer pay off the books or am I stuck in the 90s
live in a new jersey shore town and made $139 in tips working 4-8 🥹 this jobs putting me through college fr 🙌
So ive noticed lately when i deliver pizza from my job nobody is tipping,i understand tipping everywhere has gotten weird but i didnt think they would start not tipping pizza drivers. Like seriously i use to make $60 bucks average with mileage working 10:15am to 4pm and if i was lucky id make a little more if they let me stay later which is rare. Now in the same time frame ill make $25 or less on average and when they they let me stay later ill make $10 like literally during dinner rush i made $12 from 4pm to 8pm and it was beyonf busy lol. Am i missing something ? Is there a tipping strike against drivers at pizza chains ? Like how long should i wait before i quit or is this a temporary thing ive been delivering at my place for 16 months and ive never seen it this bad. Im starting to struggle with money and getting very angry and its showing. Im scared to quit and scared to stay
Hey all! I’ve been delivering for Dominos for a number of years off and on and don’t ask why but I’ve NEVER thought of claiming things for tax deductions. I’m just curious what others claim? I see so many different lists saying things like insurance, gas, mileage, etc. Just looking to get a ball park so I can start getting some of that money back, thanks!
So a while ago I had posted about drivers doing dishes, prep, talking with customers answer phones etc… and some of them responded to me like I’m crazy. Are there pizza places where drivers only drive and don’t do anything else? What places are like this?
Don’t park in a driver spot if you’re not a driver .
Located in Canada, small town, around 2 to 4 deliveries per shift.
I need the equipment to transport cold take and bake pizzas (not frozen) about 8 hours by car. Was thinking a pizza bag with some cold packs would do it but would love your recommendations!
I have just about every major chain, along with several local ones to choose from. I am leaning towards Jets because of the schedule times they put on the help wanted ad. In your experience, which chain pays the best and is also flexible with schedule? Is it ok if I can only work for a few hours a few nights a week? Or will I be expected to work most days? (I can't because I have another job.)
"why do I have to sign the receipt? I've never had to do that before."
Because I ****ing asked you to, that's why. Have you ever paid with a card at a sit down restaurant? Some people sound pretty innocent about it and I'm not particularly bothered by them but there are people who get super suspicious about it like what, you think I'm going to use your signature on a pizza receipt to commit identity theft?
All of the drivers are supposed to, but I'm the only one who actually bothers with it even when there isn't a write in.
Also I'm not telling you that you have to sign it, I'm asking you if you will. You only have to do it if your order is over $50.
I'm also tired of people thinking that a contactless delivery means no contact of any kind with the driver and getting annoyed at me for knocking on your door. We still have to interact with you, even if it's talking through a ring doorbell speaker and you telling me I can just leave it on the porch, to make sure it's the right place because Google maps is wrong sometimes And when people are just leaving it on the doorstep consistently, almost every day at least one person calls in and says their order didn't get delivered, and then everyone is inconvenienced. We have to make it again, send someone out again to deliver your order when they could be delivering someone else's, and you have to wait twice as long for your food.
Whenever I see a very aggressive no soliciting sign, like one that says "F- around and find out" or "this home is protected by Smith & Wesson" or even isn't overtly threatening but has a paragraph long manifesto of everyone and everything they don't want their door knocked on for, I wonder if this person is going to be one of those people but they're unhinged and are going to open the door pointing a gun in my face or letting their pitbull out to maul me to teach me a lesson about what they think contactless delivery should be and then I end up on the news and get a closed casket funeral even though I don't own the business and don't make the rules.
I used to deliver pizzas 20 years ago now and have a couple delivery stories that I still tell people about when they fit into conversations. I’ll share my craziest. The shop was a small regional franchise in a college town. Middle upper class clientele that tipped generously! My grandmother lived in an assisted living/ old folks home that also houses younger people with developmental disabilities, that was within walking distance of the shop and my house. One day Grams walked down to visit like she sometimes did, but she brought a girl down with her that lived next door. I was on my way out as everyone was sitting out back and I just walked past said Hi/Bye and left. Apparently the girl saw me and was infatuated. She asked a hundred questions about me and found out where I worked. She started stalking me there, showing up to see if I was working and waiting around without buying anything. It got to the point my boss was laughing about how pathetic the situation was getting because he had to hide me in the back when she would come in. It was awkward to say the least. It’s not like I just avoided her, I tried to tell her that I wasn’t interested in her, but she couldn’t understand no. So, she eventually gets banned after about 2 or 3 weeks of oddball behavior. Alls good in the neighborhood for about a month or so and I’m out on a delivery that’s about a 3 minute drive to get to and it’s dusk, with rain. So visibility is practically zero. I had to take a left turn off the main road but had to stop completely to wait for traffic to clear so I can turn. I start making the turn and pass over the pedestrian crosswalk starting to accelerate when out of nowhere I see a shadow appear right in front of me then I see her head just bouncing off the hood of my jeep and she goes skidding across the pavement. I instantly called 911 as I was getting out to check on her. She was wearing black pants, black hoodie with the hood up and she was wearing over ear headphones so she couldn’t hear anything but her music. As I said earlier, I had passed through the crosswalk, but she was way out of it, basically crossed the street at a 45 instead of straight across. The police and ambulance showed up and I think they ended up ticketing her for jaywalking. I had to call the shop and have another employee come grab the pizza to finish the delivery. My boss couldn’t believe I had hit the stalker! He did pay her hospital bills, but she never came back.

Hello, I’m a disabled veteran and decided I want to do “something” so I’m not cooped up all day. After considering my options I feel like being a pizza delivery driver fits best in my criteria for what I’m looking for and I have a few questions:
-how much are the teens gonna clown my old ass?
-what’s an average day like for a driver? For both chain and smaller family style joint? I’m considering dominoes or a more local place, haven’t truly decided yet.
-do I just get to deliver pizzas or is it expected for drivers to help with whatever task when they aren’t on a delivery?
-any general tips for older people like me?
-I’m hoping I can do maximum 30 hours a week to supplement my disability income and get a little fresh air. Is being a driver at this age not it?
Thank you in advance.
So awhile back, it was another regular night of deliveries. I can’t exactly remember why but I was run skipped. At the time our manager would just route people and get us back out there on the road. I’m guessing there was some kind of method to the madness.
Anyways, I ended up dodging a bullet, maybe a literal bullet. This driver was held at gun point once he got to his delivery. He was robbed and pistol whipped in the face. He came back inside with blood all over his face and his shirt. Cops were called, reports were made, but not sure of any resolution to it further honestly.
Help! I took my hot bags out of the car in a hurry this past weekend because I was traveling with passengers and needed the space. Left them on the porch. Got a freak storm tonight and wasn't home. They're completely soaked, lol
They're the lame $20 Amazon ones that only have a foil lining. They don't seem to have any cardboard to hold shape or anything like that. I work in like 10 hours. Can I tumble dry them on no heat, maybe????
If you're bored, you can satisfy your OCD and fit an entire box of sauce pods in a single cambro.
We deliver often to a senior living facility and one lady orders 3-4 times a week. Since she's in a wheelchair, I usually take it to her room. But the staff put a stop to it, and said that we weren't allowed to go past the front desk and have to call them when we get their and they have to meet us.
We think this is ridiculous. I've tried to sneak by, but got caught and apparently they have a new manager that strictly enforces these rules.
I'll call lady when I leave, facility is like 2 minutes away, and end up waiting another 10 minutes before she ends up getting there. Sometimes I'll call her and get gas or make another delivery if I have one. But I feel bad. She's nice just can't get around very well.
She always pays cash and doesn't tip.
