2.) Low-effort question posts such as "What's it like to drive for X company?" or "How much money do you make?" will be removed. These questions get asked quite a bit, so please use the search bar before submitting a question. Validity of a question-based post will be left up to the mods' discretion.

At interview today for a local chain the manager said I'd be part of a tip pool, and I'd make roughly $6 on top of minimum wage. Does this mean I keep none of my delivery tips? Would I be allowed to keep cash tips that are handed to me or do I have to add those to the pool?
Just started delivering for smaller chain. They pay 10 an hour in store. 6.50 an hour while on the road plus three dollars per run. I keep all tips. Is this fairly normal?
So I started working at the hut and today I was a little shocked after reviewing my end of shift slip. I worked about 9.5 hours and it says my drive time was 6:23. Now keep in mind this was a morning shift and I left at 8 pm and only took 13 deliveries in 11 trips. I’m just kinda questioning the idea of being in store for only 3 hours or so.
I mean there was one point where we didn’t even have a delivery for an hour and a half. And 11 trips over 6 hours 23 minutes is almost a 35 minute average per trip if my math is correct. That just doesn’t seem possible when my furthest trip was 4 miles out and our average delivery time is apparently 28 minutes. I was the only driver btw.
Idk I don’t trust this dragon drive thing. Does anyone know how accurate it is or what data it really tracks? Like at papa johns we literally clock the run out and clock the run in, so I personally decide how long my drive time was over there. But here I just have to trust this random app. And I get it, you know, I’m really only potentially being withheld MAYBE $3 a day. But that adds up. You know that’s potentially $50 a month due to errors in this 3rd party app
So, my very first day of delivering pizza was yesterday, and one of the first things i am told after i am on the clock is by the dude that is training me. He says that in 4 years of working there he has been robbed, shot at, shot, and had his car stolen twice, all while working, all on multiple occasions. Then we get back to the store and another guy says "You know, a family got 10-15 years of free pizza because their son died while delivering for us." and then just walked away.
I can't carry a gun on me, I have a knife but thats not gonna do anything against being shot, the knife is more of a tool. My next shift is Saturday and I really dont wanna go back out of fear of being robbed, shot at, shot, or having my car stolen.
Feels good.
I just applied to be a delivery driver for dominoes and wanted some advice. Which car would you guys choose to drive on the job?
I would love to find a new full time job. Delivery is eating my car up for too long, I’d rather not find a beater and just find a new career.
I’m gonna just make it $2, since it’s obviously not $0 or $1 & I don’t wanna put a higher amount if it could just be $2
So basically I was thinking of doing pizza delivery in addition to my regular full time job. I was just wondering when you do it, like after work on weekdays or on weekends? Also how much do you make in extra income delivering pizza?
Currently at a local independent shop delivering but business has been drying up. Thinking of heading to papa John’s or Dominos. Anyone have any advice or stories from delivering from either of these company’s ?
Had someone do something when I dropped off pizzas
Currently work at a place that shows their appreciation with a nice bonus of $500 and an open bar Christmas party at the local casino. Any of you guys get something similar?
Hi r/pizzadrivers.
Lost my full time job and have to support my mother. As of right now, looking to start subbing for emergency income at schools to survive, so won't be available till after ~ 3pm, but the subbing schedule is on call. Could I get an evening shift that works with this starting out? What schedule would most likely be available? Open to any day M-F after 3pm or all day Sat-Sun
This lady ordered a pizza, boneless wings, and a 2 liter. Ordered through the app, which means she put everything that was on the order there herself. Of course didn't pick what type of 2 liter so I had to call and ask what she wanted, now she has my number. Double check everything before I leave, it's all correct.
It's a prepaid delivery with no tip to an apartment at the edge of our zone, so you already know she didn't tip after I correctly brought everything that SHE ORDERED THROUGH THE APP. That's okay, stiffs happen, part of the job. Go back to my car, get a call about 30 seconds later "oh I didn't order boneless wings, I ordered bone-in!" It literally says on the ticket that she ordered boneless wings. Again, she ordered through the app, so it was her "mistake," not someone at the store putting in an order wrong or anything. How do you accidentally order boneless wings, one of the options are "boneless wings" and the other option is "wings."
Whatever, mistakes can happen I guess, so I told her to call the store. She wants me to take the boneless wings back and I do because I'm a dumbass I guess. I worked at PJ's for five years and I've only been at this new mom and pop shop for a few days so the "customer always right" crap is still engrained in me.
Get back to the store, they make the bone in wings, and I bring them back to her for some reason. No tip again. You'd think if someone genuinely made a mistake and are getting a free redelivery they would feel bad enough to throw a couple of bucks.
I checked the menu after I got back to the store and the boneless wings are $3 cheaper than the bone-in. So I can only assume it was her plan from the very beginning to screw me over, all so that she could save three measly dollars.
Absolutely ridiculous man. She also called and tried to get a refund on the wings that she incorrectly ordered. This lady has to be a sociopath. There is no other explanation.
This was four hours ago and I've been home for over an hour and I'm still heated. How terrible of a person do you have to be to pull something like this for three stupid dollars dude.
If you read all of this thank you, and sorry. Just needed to rant.
Hi r/pizzadrivers.
Love the chill and freedom of slinging pizzas, but it's not sustainable. What's the closest equivalent that is and is a career?
I started delivering pizzas last month and switched insurance to State Farm because they offered a policy specifically tailored for delivery drivers. Seems like they changed their minds about that.
I’m freaking out. I’ve been trying to get a job for awhile now. Papa John’s called me back randomly on Friday and now I start tomorrow.
The problem is I have terrible insomnia and I usually take an edible to help me sleep. I didn’t even think about it until last night and now im tweaking. Does papa johns drug test its employees? i know obv the best solution is to stop but thats not really a choice rn. I’m also in Utah.
any comments help thank you
I have two years experience delivering pizza with Dominos with excellent track record. Once I took 43 deliveries in one day the stores record. Then I moved and took a little break and applied at my local dominos to be a delivery driver again and it’s been a complete nightmare. I applied over two months ago for the job and walk in at least five times handing my card with my contact info. The problem is the manager keeps making excuses and stonewalling me and then apparently she told me oh I don’t even your application from the corporate website. So I applied on the franchise website and it’s been over a week and still nothing. Went in yesterday and the manager wasn’t there and shift lead told me that they hired two new delivery drivers without giving me an interview. I know it’s still not enough drivers from the reviews saying their order is very late and canceled with delivery. Any ideas how to motivate the manager to give me a chance? Don’t understand why it’s this difficult with my two years experience to get a job delivering pizza. Quick edit I forgot to add the manger told me in mid October half of the staff quit and they needed more drivers very soon. However it’s almost December it’s very confusing.
Got this tip tonight electronically pre-delivery. I didn't say anything. Was professional, but I just wanted to be like Why??? Who does this? LMAO. Made everyone in the store laugh. Papa Johns delivery btw.
It’s a mostly Ohio based franchise. I’ve driven for them for about 10 years now & was curious if anyone else currently does in this sub.
