I’m posting here because I already get enough hate on r/puppy101 for him being a pittie mix, and I know if I post this question they will just accuse him of being aggressive simply because he is a pittie.
My puppy is 6 months old, and he’s very jumpy. He can jump very high, and his new favorite thing in adolescence is to jump right into people’s faces with his jaws wide open. I believe he is trying to initiate play, that’s how it looks, and he has happy body language, but he doesn’t realize it’s inappropriate behavior (obviously, because he is a puppy and doesn’t understand human nuances).
He did this at training class, and knocked a man’s glasses right off his face, he does it to guests who come into my home, he does it to me and my husband.
We have tried to teach him since we got him three months ago that he cannot jump on people, but apparently this does not include jumping into their faces for playtime (he still jumps on them anyway since he is a teenager and ears are for decoration now 🙄)
How can I deal with this? I know he just wants to play but it is scary when a 40 pound pittie lunges at your face like that, and it will be worse when he is full grown.
My 5 month old for the past month will vomit around 5am. He’ll lick it up and just go back to sleep. When it happens it’s food that comes out, not stomach bile. Doesn’t happen every day, maybe twice a week
Hey, does anyone want to share how they support their dogs health in the long term? First time dog owner here. Adopted my baby hippo a few months ago. She’s 2 and I want her to be as comfortable as possible in her old age.
Mine are:
Anything else I should add?
Roadie’s favorite snack is poop. Call me cold hearted, but he did not get a poop cake for his first birthday. He got walk, a new bone, a bath, a fresh blanket in his kennel, and a snuggle.
I tried these years ago for my girl and she did not love the idea the slightest bit. However even using paw balm in the winter time her paws still become raw because she licks them frequently. The first time I tried the boots she had them on inside and probably wondered why I was attaching these weird things to her feet. I think if I give it a try a second time and carry her outside to let her feel that the boots give some protection from the cold and salt maybe she will not resist them so much.
Anyone have suggestions for a specific brand/product that has worked well?
I love seeing our pitty so comfy & cozy tucked in on cold nights. We rescued her a few years ago after she was picked up a starving stray. She’ll never have to sleep outside again. 🥰
My five year old pittie mix, named Lukas, loves whenever my family lights a fire in the fireplace. We had one tonight and, per usual, he came over to enjoy it :).
this is lady sandy, a 2 y/o pitbull at agoura animal shelter in los angeles, ca.
she is a sweetheart, she loves to play and cuddle and sit on people's laps.
she can pull a bit on the leash but she is easy to correct given she isn't that big of a dog.
here's her info if u wanna know more: https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/?animalCareCenter=AGOURA&animalType=DOG&sex=ALL&breed=ALL&animalAge=ALL&animalSize=ALL&animalStatus=ALL&animalID=&pageNumber=3&animalDetail=A5641256
We rescued a 5 year old mix and he can’t stand to be left alone for more than 5 minutes. I’ve worked on crate training and giving him something to do, and nothing is working. This is my first pit mix and I’ve never seen a dog with such bad anxiety. He’s destroyed the trim near my door and bent the bars on his crate. Any suggestions? Next thing to try is some CBD treats….was hoping to not have to use that.
This is Fran and she desperately needs your help! She had a horrible start at life living on the streets of Florida giving birth frequently and in and out of high kill shelters. She has now found a safe haven in my sister and her partners home. She is the absolute light of their lives! She is their child. My sister and her partner are both writers and although they are very good with money and saving this bill is just too much to swallow. She went in for a dental (which was already $1500) and mentioned she may have pulled a muscle doing zoomies. The vets took X-rays and unfortunately Fran needs double knee surgery, which is looking at multiple thousands of dollars per knee. On top of that she also has hip dysplasia and has to have it managed by medication. I know it’s a tough time of year but every single dollar counts! Please share!!
