I've been focusing a lot on moisture content recently. Trying to find that sweet spot where I get the most flavor and have the most enjoyable smoke. How do you get yours to that perfect level once it's gotten a bit too crispy and looses flavor?
Say you are on a cross country roadtrip within the US and a pipe smoker. Where do you visit on your journey? So far my cortex has thought of the Missouri Meerschaum factory, through Kentucky to see a barn making the Dark Fired, or a brick and mortar like Iwan Ries in Chicago. Picture for fun and is my current VaPer rotation with Erin Go Bragh pipe
Just curious if anyone has good recommendations on any Christmas theme blends and where to get them, Thanks.
Not gonna lie, I've garnered a little collection and tried multiple types of blends etc, but still don't seem to be doing this right. Different ways of filling pipes, pre-lighting, re-lighting, and I continously have to relight my pipes, get a swamp in the bottom, or everything just tastes burnt. Stored tobacco in mason jars, humidifier bag, etc, and I still feel like I'm burning the hell out of it and doing something wrong. First world pipe poser problems, i guess.
Gasparini pipe. Tobacco from the new series "The 4 Elements" by Stanislaw. The Earth element is represented by a mixture of dark Burley and Virginia leaves. Taste group: Aromatic Strength: Light Cut: Ready Rubbed Composition: Virginia, Burley Flavoring: Plums, honey Manufactured by Dan Tobacco Manufacturing, Germany.
You want to know a sleeper blend. Here you go. Enjoy.
My dad gave me several pipes around Christmas time last year, in addition to my old collection, but my fiance and I moved to a small apartment shortly thereafter. It is the time in our lives to tighten our belts and live a smaller life and prepare to have a family. It is hard to find a time to smoke when you work hard and just want to get home at the end of your day, where you have no back yard. It is hard to take the time to slow down and take the time for any of your hobbies when you are in the working class.
You have to prioritize relaxation, and doing so can be its own stress. I'm glad a made it out though, almost a year later.
White Knight in an old Caminetto paired with a 20 year old tawny port and a mid-1990s pulp fantasy novel.
now i know you're thinking "but waffles, that's a cigarette tobacco."
and you'd be correct, but i submit that it's really a damn good dark fired tobacco, especially if you want something that burns quick and easy because it's cold out. and i would advise you to give it a shot sometime.
Loaded up my Savinelli 677KS and am now working my way through my first bowl of capstan blue. Originally planned on trying this on thanksgiving but better now then never. My tin was packed on September 2023.
I am still in the first half of the bowl not as sweet as I had expected but it does have a nice subtle sweetness I find at the end. I get a lot of breads notes I can’t quite pinpoint maybe I’m crazy but like a nice rye bread. Definitely enjoyable and will need to have a few tins to cellar.

I’m mostly wondering if Morleys Pipe Club still meets up?
Ideally I’m looking for a South Jersey Area Pipe Club or lounge to become a member of but Philly being very close can also be an option. So I welcome any and all input regarding either. Thanks!
I LOVE strong English blends (especially in the winter months) but I am not a fan of Latakia flavored food.. If you are a fan of hot sauce and Latakia, this sauce is for you.. All I taste is Nightcap. Spice level is 6/10 but the flavor is straight Latakia. Personally, I do not like it but I'm sure someone here would
I made a pipe ornament for my Christmas tree! Happy holidays to all!
I’m not typically one for p-lips, but it’s actually really nice with this blend. I think it helps that it’s a relatively mellow smoke for the monster it is (very big, very full flavored, strong). I’ve posted thoughts on this blend, but I’m in love with it. It is a bowl full of barnyard petrichor in the best possible way. Bought a 2 oz sample in the original drop and I’m hoping it lasts until the pound I ordered arrives :)
I’m a fan of Peterson lovats. I have two with fishtail stems that love Old Joe Krantz. It’s a great little shape, especially in this cooler weather. I lucked out and got some lovely bird’s eye grain on this one (it’s an Aran finish).
Hope you’re all enjoying a good pipe this weekend!
When smoking blends, I sometimes like to close my eyes and let the flavors guide my imagination.
Every blend tells a story, evoking memories or transporting me to vivid scenes from my life.
Sometimes, it’s the biney spray of Squadron Leader that takes me to a windswept beach, the salty air mingling with the briny tang of seaweed. Other times, it’s a quiet moment in a cattle barn, where the sweet, earthy aroma of silage fills the air, perfectly captured in a bowl of Deluxe Navy Rolls.
Then there are those cool, dewy autumn evenings, when the scent of a smoldering bonfire lingers heavy over the fields. A pipe of Nightcap brings me back to those moments, the crisp air tinged with smoke, the fading light painting the landscape in shades of amber and gray.
What about you? Do certain blends take you to specific places or moments?
Escudo is what’s in the pipe. Somehow feel like it tastes better in this meerschaum vs in my briar pipes. Smoking in my garage with lots junks around by the way. Plan to improve this environment gradually.
Can’t get enough of either of these. I think i missed the drop for Cringle Flake 2024 unfortunately.
