Super seat for sale at H'Wood Bowl tonight! Can you help me out so Ticketmaster doesn't get all my money?

My dog is going in for surgery this morning and I can't attend the show. This is a great single seat with extra legroom near the front of the super seats, with no seats immediately in front of you. I chose it very carefully to be center and close but not quite in the rich people seats! (The boxes are nice!)
It's a Silver Hot Seat ticket with a separate entrance, etc. Just can't make it with a $2000 surgery happening. Sniff. $275 (plus ticketbastard fees), was nearly $600.

David at the Bowl, sound issues?

I was at the show last night, section q1 with a bit off to the side.

All night there was a constant issue for me where it sounded like someone was simply turning the treble knob on a home stereo!

It was band wide and the entire sound would go from bright and clear to low and muffled.

I’ve been to a lot of shows there and have never picked up a hint of odd sound issues.

  1. Could it be some natural sound cancelation phenomena off to the sides of the Hollywood Bowl? I don’t see how this is possible in a venue made for this purpose.

  2. The show wasn’t a Hollywood Bowl production. So I guess there could have been issues with the tour audio setup speaker wise? Maybe unprepared for a show in that environment? This is David Gilmour and I think the level of audio quality would make this impossible.

  3. The atmosphere was damping high frequency sounds. It was cold, it was windy and they did have a TON of smoke blowing all over the space. I just work at Wendy’s so I got no ability to know if this is even possible.

  4. My ears, when at the Hollywood Bowl go into a mode where my high frequency hearing goes in and out. But this seems unlikely because nothing else I hear suffers this phenomena.

So I’m curious what people at the show experienced.

Edit: it’s been pointed out that this is exactly what wind can do in an outdoor arena like this.

Seems much calmer tonight, enjoy!

And make no mistake I cried with Music Tears (tm) last night. So I had a good time!

What is the sound at 5:25 in echoes ?

A guitar ? A Bass ? Something else ? You know the « slide » that introduces the solo

(Updated) ’Dust & Guitars’ - ‘Syd’ Barrett’s Record Collection’ - Spotify Playlist

Records either mentioned by ’Syd’ Roger Barrett himself or by those who knew him.

Featured are also records by 'friends’ of Barrett.

The record visible on the cover has been identified as Taj Mahal’s ‘The Natch’l Blues’ (1969). Photo (detail) by Mick Rock, 1969.

Without spoiler, was the Gilmour Hollywood Bowl show shorter than previous shows on the tour?

Peeked at setlist.fm cuz I wanted to know when gigs start and end without looking at the setlist.

https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/david-gilmour-7bd6ba00.html

The tour average length is 2 hrs 50 mins but the first Hollywood Bowl show was like 1 hr 20 mins? Is that an error on setlist.fm's part? Or are the Hollywood Bowl shows just shorter?

No setlist spoiler please! 😂

High Hopes - Live ..hot take..

So many may consider this a hot take, but I find the live version of High Hopes to be not even close to as good, when compared to the studio version.

Something is missing. Maybe the live version just doesn't capture the atmosphere of the song that's on the album.

But I've felt this way ever since I saw them inn1994.

With that said, I don't hate it live, it's just not nearly as good.

Seeing Dave one week from tonight and can not wait!

I'm sure I'll enjoy High Hopes in the moment.

Live albums

So the first live album was Ummagumma from 1969 and there wouldn’t be a second live album for almost 20 years until Delicate Sound of Thunder was released under Gilmour’s reign.

Does anyone know why there wasn’t any official live albums released in that period? They toured pretty much constantly and very successfully during the 70s but never released a live album.

Never thought I'd have a chance...

But here it is. I see David at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night. Flying in from Texas tomorrow morning. I still can't believe it. I suspect it will be a great arena of weeping old men, just like me.

The new Sony deal

Does anybody think with Sony buying the catalog recently they’ll take better care of the albums. We need the wall remastered because it’s so quiet that even at full volume it’s like it’s playing at 50%, along with most of the transitions being messed up due to reuploads from the hits albums? One can only hope.

Best concert ever. If you have the means to go don't hesitate.

First and unfortunately my last Gilmour concert tonight in LA. I had high expectations and they were completely blown out of the water! If anyone is even contemplating going just do your self a favor and go. The guy is 78 and just completely shreds in a way that my mind almost can't comprehend. I have always liked fat old sun but it wasn't my favorite, the way he played it live with that solo was just incredible. Every OG PF song was honestly just so insane to witness live it was like comeplete eargasm at all times. I saw some people actually leaving before the encore of comfortably numb and couldn't even fathom missing that absolute masterpiece. I don't have any friends that like this kind of music so I'm just kind of rambling here in awe of what I witnessed. Anyone else see the show at intuit Dome?

Edit: only negatives in my opinion was the fact that no songs from animals were played, no echoes, no SOYCD, but still it was amazing!

Can't afford to go to DG after getting hit by back to back hurricanes in FL. Anyone interested in buying 1 floor ticket?

I paid a little over 800 after fees. So I'll take 800 OBO. I'll use whatever buyer friendly payment method. PayPal goods and services I believe is the gold standard but I'm willing to use something else if you'd prefer. It's currently uploaded to StubHub and no one's been biting. I can send the link if you'd rather buy from there.

Edit I'm an idiot. Shows for MSG Wednesday Nov 6. Seat 12, section B row 15

Did Pink Floyd deliberately choose prime numbers for the lengths of their best songs?

Echoes is 23 minutes, Dogs is 17 minutes, Pigs is 11 minutes, Shine On is 13 minutes, Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is 13 minutes... gotta be something in it? Syd was exactly the kind of mad genius that would do this.

"Floydian Trip," a cover band, is performing near me next year. Has anyone seen them before? Are they any good? I'm thinking about buying tickets when they go on sale Monday, but I'd love to hear some reviews first! Let me know if you've heard them play!

My Dark side of the Moon tattoo

I know, I know, I picked the one that everyone recognizes by design but this album, and Pink Floyd as a whole, has honestly saved me countless times in my most down of days. Seemed fitting for my second tattoo to be of my favourite band

No meat no pudding revisited

When I grew up a̶n̶d̶ w̶e̶n̶t̶ t̶o̶ s̶c̶h̶o̶o̶l̶ t̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ w̶e̶r̶e̶ c̶e̶r̶t̶a̶i̶n̶ t̶e̶a̶c̶h̶e̶r̶s̶ the thing that kept you from the pudding were your vegetables. You'd always keep a piece of meat until last on the plate because it was the best part of the meal. No matter how grey and dry, the meat was the best part. But vegetables... I detested most vegetables - cabbage, cauliflower, peas, green beans, pumpkin, gem squash, butternut squash. To make me eat my vegetables, my parents would threaten with the old pudding withholding. My friends had this too.

It seemed to have been a common, well-known, joked about practice. The sugar bribe.

So I'm just wondering, why meat and not vegetables? Is it a peculiarly post-WWII British thing, that meat in general was not good? Cooking methods? Quality of meat? (In The Wall movie, the sadistic teacher cuts off and pushes aside a piece of sinew or gristle. Can't remember if it still had a bit of bristle on it, but it looks disgusting.

But, so, who got the sugar bribe for vegetables and not meat?
