So I already had a few Collectif pieces from before the financial fracas, and am visiting London the next few days. I popped in to the Collectif Camden Market store to have a gander and spoke to the two staff there.
Both had worked at the store previously and were brought back, most of the stock they had were items on the website, and items from before the shutdown. Some items had limited sizes available, as they no longer have a warehouse. Clothes are made in Turkey, then shipped straight to the store. I saw many website items in the store itself.
Styles were similar, though a lot less variety than when I was there 3 years ago. Materials are definitely lighter, maybe cheaper, but I still found a waist coat/skirt combo style I had been looking for, for AGES, so I am a happy camper.
Staff member said new owners are quite keen to maintain the Collectif vibe, and are currently working on a spring/summer collection to come out in the new season.
Hope this helps!
I don't usually see a lot of pin ups in the south mostly Alabama and Florida area?
Has anyone ordered from the new Collectif website? I really want to place an order as a bunch of their outlet styles are dresses I’ve wanted for years now, but I’m scared that it’s a scam or it won’t ship.
Saw it on tiktok and thought it was awesome. The creator isn’t responding to or liking anybody’s comments so I’m not going to bother asking. Not sure if this counts as rockabilly - pinup - gothabilly, sorry! Cant find it anywhere online :(
Anyone know where I can find these pieces?
What would you wear if you were going to a pro basketball game?
Anyone buying from them yet?
The photos are just the old photos as far as I can tell, so no way to see what the quality of the dresses is with the new owners.
Hey! Can anyone recommend a cute Christmas jumper? I lost my Collectif Christmas jumper and I'm heart broken Thanks - Merry Christmas!
Hi Canadian pin-ups I hope this reaches you! I'm an Australian pinup and I'm heading to Canada to the Vernon/Kelowna area in a few weeks and in hoping there might be some worthwhile stores to visit. Full disclosure I have been to the area before quite a bit and have searched but maybe I'm not looking right, sometimes you need someone "in the know". Also I know I'm trying my luck given in not going to a major city here but I just have to ask. Please forgive if this makes very little sense I'm pre-coffee 😴
Title says it all :) I’ve never been good at my hair and want to start making an effort. I’m here for all tips and advice please 🥹
Hello! I have a shoot coming up and I was thinking of doing glam and wearing either the short Million Dollar Baby dress by Elle Rebel in Emerald Green, Black, or the full length version in hot pink (photos of all on the creators site here: https://ellerebel.com/search?type=product&q=million+dollar )
I'm stuck on how to style them. I am plus size with shorter honey-blonde hair. I can usually do a Marilyn Monroe type look, but I don't know what kind of accessories to style with, or how to do my hair.
Ideas so far:
- fancy jewlery set in green, blue, or pink like this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09PH8QPXF/?coliid=I39YAI5VZ13KB3&colid=29XUGXHFWKNV4&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
- white elbow-length gloves (not sure if these would look right)
- fancy jewled hair comb
- plain black pumps like these: https://memery.us/collections/1950s-shoes/products/50s-peep-toe-vintage-style-in-suede-black-margaret or should I do leather rather than suede?
- glass and/or bottle of champagne in my hand with a velvet curtain background
What do you guys think? Normally I LOVE putting looks together but I am stumped since this is last minute. Do you have any suggestions? I am all ears!
I do pinup pageants and have accumulated a lot of bangles to go with my looks, and don't really have an effective way to store them!
I was originally using a paper towel holder, but I ran out of space and it was a huge disaster every time I needed one from the bottom. Do you ladies have any creative ways of storing and easily accessing your bangles?
I used to follow a pinup influencer by the account name KirstieMyDear, and I saw a picture of her on Pinterest today and started looking her up. Nothing turned up! No Instagram or YouTube anymore. Does anyone know what happened to her? I loved her posts!
hi babes! I js wanted to ask if any of you knew where to get good pin up scoopneck tees, anything flattering and tight fitting! Im on the hunt for some spooky ones :3!
I'm going to a very cold country (snow on the ground in some places) for a few weeks and I need some warm but also comfortable shoes as we will be walking around a lot!! I live in a hot place so I don't really know what kind of boots to get! I need something that will look good with my usual pinup and vintage style, planning on wearing pants for obvious reasons (vixen palazzos/ cigarettes/ 40s style sailor cut/ wide legs etc). Does anyone have any recommendations please?
Im browsing my usual sites (Vixen, LFEN, Unique Vintage, Trashy Diva, PUG) and went to visit Pinup Girl Clothing… the site is down. Then I go to their Instagram and realized they haven’t posted since early July… did they close??
I will be starting a serving job soon working in a 1950’s themed diner and I’m looking for the best pinup updo hairstyles that would also work in a restaurant/food service, waitressing/serving position. Any advice helps. Thanks everyone!!
As a former employee, I wanted to provide some context about what has really been happening behind the scenes at Collectif over the past few years, especially as the company is now relaunching under new ownership.
The Relaunch Isn’t as "New" as It Seems: Despite the fresh branding, many of the same individuals responsible for Collectif's toxic environment and abusive behavior are still involved. These people not only made the decisions that led to the company’s decline but actively encouraged and participated in the abusive culture. Their return to leadership under the guise of a "new" Collectif shows that little has truly changed.
A Culture of Abuse and Toxicity: The work environment at Collectif was deeply abusive on multiple levels. While I won’t go into specifics due to their triggering nature, those involved in this relaunch were complicit in that toxic culture. They cannot be trusted to lead a new iteration of the brand after failing to uphold basic standards of respect and integrity. Upper management exhibited blatant disdain for the counterculture that initially built the brand. The abuse was rampant, even external partners faced mistreatment. The situation worsened with the arrival of a new CEO in May 2023, where some of the worst behaviors were not just tolerated but actively encouraged. Extreme micromanagement, lack of delegation, and an oppressive work culture led directly to the company’s decline. The responsibility for this toxic environment lies squarely with this leadership team, yet they are being given another chance to lead. I implore you, do not support this "new" Collectif.
Size Inclusivity, Price Increases, and Quality Issues: The new owner of Collectif is the same factory whose higher production costs forced the brand to raise prices in the past. Despite repeated pleas, they refused to manufacture sizes above UK 20, only agreeing to produce size 22 in very small batches. Not only did the factory refuse to go beyond that, but the idea of making larger sizes was openly mocked by many on the management team. Additionally, the quality of the factory's output was often poor, with many items having issues like seam slippage, misaligned prints, and faded colors. Large amounts of stock were either rejected or sold despite these errors. This lack of inclusivity and quality highlights where the priorities of the new ownership lie.
Poor Leadership Drove the Brand's Collapse: Collectif’s downfall was not purely caused by external market forces. It stemmed from mismanagement, poor decision-making, and a disregard for what made the brand special. Leadership consistently pushed personal agendas instead of focusing on the brand’s core values, which led to a decline in both product quality and workplace morale.
If you care about ethical business practices, inclusivity, and supporting brands that treat their employees and customers with respect, I encourage you to think twice before supporting the 'new' Collectif. Given the widespread issues of power abuse in the retail industry, it's worth considering how our purchasing decisions might inadvertently support such behavior.
I had my eye on one from Collectif in the summer but was waiting for Autumn before making my purchase but as you may know, they've closed down! I'm UK-based so websites that are British or European are preferred to keep shipping costs down but I'd also consider US sites if their international shipping isn't super expensive.
I am going to England and Scotland in the spring and I am looking for shopping must do recommendations well I'm there. I already am planning Freddie's of Pinewood.
I have a trip coming up to Napa Valley at the end of the month. I have been trying to incorporate more vintage fashion into my fashion overall, particularly 1950’s, but I am not where I would like to be. What dresses would you recommend I buy for this upcoming trip?
I am particularly looking for day dresses that would pair well with these shoes I got from American Duchess.
I am plus size (about a US 26–I am in the process of losing weight to increase my options for vintage clothes but I am not going to be in straight sizes by the end of the month).
I'll be having a trip to London in few months, and I was wondering if there are some vintage reproduction stores? Like stores that sell for example British retro, Banned vintage, Lady Vintage, Voodoo vixen etc. I tried to google, but the only shop like that was Collectif, but they've closed all their stores :(
I know there is many stores that sell real vintage, but I'm not looking for that. The clothes I'm looking for are more rockabilly/pin up style clothes.
Can anyone recommend any sewing pattern styles similar to the Collectif dress styles. I want to be able to make my wife some of the vintage style clothing she like?
