/r/PictureAlabama
PictureAlabama tries to paint a picture of Alabama through the imagery that doesn't come to mind when one thinks of Alabama.
Alabama has its stereotype. We all know it, there's no reason to belabor the point. At its worst, every aspect of that stereotype can be found here if you go looking for it.
Alabama is a state of rare beauty, of farms, fields, caverns, forests, swamps, beaches, small towns and large cities. Alabamians work hard, reach out to others in times of disaster, endeavor to own the past--transcend it with integrity--and achieve a reconciliation that moves us forward.
/r/PictureAlabama documents this beautiful state and the ongoing struggle for honesty, courage, acceptance, forgiveness, joy, and delight.
Submission Guide
We're looking for pictures, videos, artwork, and stories that fill in and flesh out an honest picture of Alabama and its people.
Submissions can be current, historical, woodlands, rural, city, coastal, at work or play. Share the images and stories that acknowledge where we are and where we want to go. (No memes, please.)
If you've seen the photo-oriented essays from the Bitter Southerner, that's the sense of place we're striving for.
Let's paint the real picture of Alabama.
