Scooter renting Patong

Hi everyone,

TLDR: So everytime I go to Patong I rent the scooter to the same guy, but this year he increased the request for the deposit (I never had an accident or damaged any scooter if you think he is increasing for that reason).

This time he wants 200 EU (or 7k THB) which seems crazy to me for a 125 honda click. He used to ask 5k.

I always went to him despite the 5k because he speaks my language (Italian) and I felt "safe" in terms of possible scams.

Other places I usually go such as Samui I never had to leave more than 3k THB for the deposit.

My questions are:

  1. is it normal in Patong that they ask that much for the deposit?
  2. Any recommendation for a scooter rental that people have positive experiences with?

Searching for condo / hotel to stay for a month from now

The title says it all basically. I have an offer from an hotel for one month but i want to know which other options there might be. It could also be for 2 or 3 weeks, in the meantime i would explore Bangkok or Chiang Mai. I know the high season just started but i am on a budget, so no luxurious offers please. I want to stay until the 7th january maximum starting from now. Also please note i am a 27 year old male, reddit gave a random name, so please don't wonder. That said, i am here for doing muay thai training, working on myself and preparing for an exam. So i am not interested in the 'adult entertainment options' if that could be a concern for anyone. Khop khun krap in advance 🙏🏼

Phuket December NYE 35M UK

Will be flying into Phuket Patong from Dec 26th to Jan 6th, if anyone is about for beers and general socialising,

I’m not into any kinky vibes just here to connect with people and listen to stories over a few drinks and possibly gather a group for NY celebrations,

How to enjoy Phuket and Krabi to the maximum?

We are a married couple (27F and 33M) visiting Phuket, Phi Phi Islands, and Krabi from 6th to 14th December. We’re looking for experiences that will make our trip truly memorable. Below are some plans we’ve already made:

Phuket:

1.	Bangla Road – Dive into the nightlife, explore the go-go bars, and party the night away.
2.	Nuru/Soapy Massage – Enjoy a relaxing and unique spa experience.
3.	Big Buddha & Wat Chalong – Visit iconic landmarks for breathtaking views and cultural insights.
4.	Island-Hopping Tours – Explore nearby gems like James Bond Island or Coral Island.

Phi Phi Islands (2 Nights):

1.	Chill Time – Relax, smoke up, and soak in the island vibes.
2.	Maya Bay – Visit this famous beach from The Beach movie, perfect for snorkeling and photos.
3.	Sunset Cruise – Take a boat ride to enjoy stunning views of the sun dipping into the Andaman Sea.
4.	Loh Dalum Beach – Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere or explore the beach nightlife.

Krabi (3 Nights):

1.	Yet to decide on the itinerary but since this would be the last leg of the vacation a good blend of relaxing and shopping would be great.
2. Krabi Night Market – Shop for souvenirs and enjoy local street food.

Let us know if there are more activities or hidden gems we shouldn’t miss!

Feb Trip

Myself and some mates (22m) are going over february. We’ve booked flights to bangkok and then a return flight from phuket with the plan of a doing an overnight bus ride from bangkok to phuket. 1. Is this actually a decent way to travel between the 2 destinations? and 2. What’s the recommended amount of time for both places if we have 9 days total? Considering we don’t plan on partying every night and I know at least i’m not particularly keen on paying for happy endings

Personal trainer Phuket?

I’m planning to work remotely in Phuket and am looking to get started at the gym. Since I’m new to fitness, I’d like to work with a personal trainer who speaks English and can help me build a solid foundation.

Do you have any recommendations for gyms or trainers in the area who specialize in working with beginners? I’d appreciate any tips or advice on how to find the right person.

Note: I plan on staying in the old town area, but do plan on renting a bike, so do not mind a bit of travel.

Thanks in advance for your help!

For the people renting motorbike read this

Hello how are you? I have read a lot of post regarding police fines or what can you do if you don't have international driving license, etc. I was very worried too. I was on phuket for 1 week (last week) with my boyfriend but as I'm always scared he has the international driving license, also we wear the helmets and everything was fine. The police were stopping people to issue fines. We were also stopped so at first the police asked for license he showed the normal one then he said "no you need international license" he showed that one and the police start saying he needed a thai license (which is not true because we asked a lot of thai people and they told us we can't have the thai license) and then he started saying we needed to pay 3000 baht I start arguing with him why if we have everything in order. So then he asked for the passport but the motorbike rental kept the passport and we also told him so he said no you need to pay the fine etc etc so he asked for 1000 baht...he gave us a document and told us put the 1000 baht there and go....if that's is not corruption I don't what is....so for all the people saying that the tourist are not responsible yes maybe sometimes but we have everything in order and he just wanted money he didn't let us go without paying something we got lucky and he lowered the price...but it socks anyway....

No money in phuket

My country has a limit for credit card usage of $10k internationally and i hit that now! I only have about 300 baht to my name. I can top up any thai bank with crypto so i can just find someone who’s local and tip him for the service. But i want something reliable to also travel to other countries, is there any banks that offer prepaid credit cards for tourists? Or crypto atms

Forgot to mention : i’m solo traveling.

Diving in Phuket

Hi,

From 3rd to 23rd December I will be in Phuket - mostly for diving & snorkeling.
Does anyone know good dive centers where you can bring your own equipment and a place to clean my equipement after the dives, hang it for drying and having it stored. I couldn't find out which dive centers offer this.
I don't have an accomodation yet, but thinking to start in Patong since it's close to the beach.
I would love to bring my whole diving equipment (except weights & bottles ofc) to one dive center and then being able to walk or short Grab/Bolt drive to the dive center for the dives.
And the diving center should not only be for diving starters and courses.
Any recommendations?

Lost My Wallet in Patong Beach – Seeking Advice on What to Do Next

Hello, everyone,

I’m currently visiting Patong Beach in Phuket, and unfortunately, I lost my wallet last night. It’s been a frustrating situation, and I’m hoping to get some advice or guidance from this community on how to proceed.

Here’s the situation: • My wallet contained my ID, credit cards, and some cash. • I believe I may have dropped it while walking along Bangla Road or near one of the restaurants/bars in the area. • I’ve retraced my steps, asked at the establishments I visited, and even checked with a few tuk-tuk drivers, but no luck so far.

I’ve taken the following steps so far: 1. Contacted My Bank: I’ve frozen my credit cards to prevent unauthorized use. 2. Visited the Police Station: I filed a report at the local police station for documentation purposes.

I still have access to some money through my phone’s banking apps, but I’m unsure about how to manage certain things like local transportation or proof of identity during my remaining days here.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, I’d love to hear your advice on: 1. Places or services in Patong that might help locate lost items (e.g., lost and found services or groups). 2. Suggestions for navigating the next few days without an ID or physical cards. 3. Any additional steps I might have overlooked.

Thank you in advance for your help! I really appreciate the kindness of strangers in moments like these.

Renting for a few months

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a place to stay in Phuket from February to the end of June. Ideally, I’d like a 2-bedroom apartment with a budget of 35,000 THB per month.

Do you think it’s possible to find something decent within this budget? If you have any recommendations for areas or reliable agencies, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Is it easy to find somewhere to pray?

I know Thailand isn’t a Muslim country but that there are a fair number of muslims in Phuket. I’m travelling next week and just wondering how easy it is to find places to pray when I’m out and about during the day. Like if it’s easy to find a mosque to pop into

Please help me review itwrnary and decide among few shortlisted hotels

Hi, I am going on a trip to Thailand in last week of Dec with my wife - We are newly married (9 months) - First international trip. Our iternary looks like -

24th Dec - Land in Bangkok Airport at 6 AM and from there directly go to Pattaya (we are skipping to explore Bangkok for this trip).

Reach Pattaya in morning and explore few places there on 24th and 25th Dec (haven't decided on that yet but maybe Sanctuary of Truth, a good massage somewhere, Ramayana Water Park??, Tiffany's Show).

Stay - LK Emerald Beach Resort

26th Dec morning - Take flight to Krabi from DMK airport. We reach krabi at 12:30 PM, spend rest of day mostly at leisure.

27th Dec - Explore 4 islands, national park etc.

Stay - Aonang Phu Pi Maan Resort

28th Dec - We go back to Phuket and spend the day at leisure

29th Dec - Go to Phi Phi and come back to Phuket for stay overnight.

Now for this 28th and 29th Dec, we are super confused which hotel to choose. We want some serene experience, something different, bathtub/jacuzzi is something we prefer. Some of options -

Sis Kata Resort (INR 30k) Suuko Wellness & Spa (INR 20k) Patong Paragon Resort & Spa (INR 20k) Pamookkoo Resort (this one has water park but no bathtub in room) - INR 25k The Palmery Resort - INR 28k

(Rates for 2 nights).

Pls help choose from these or if anything else - we were also looking at Island Escape Burrari but it is very far and is 40k without bathtub.

30th and 31st night - We are staying at Seabed Grand Resort.

Pls help in whatever you can - Suggesting attractions to visit in this iternary and hotel for 28th - 30th Dec.

Thanks a ton!
