A place to discuss non-surgical solutions for tight foreskin from phimosis, frenulum breve and preputial adhesion

This is a place to share information about tight foreskin and talk to others who have fixed their issues with tight foreskin problems, phimosis, frenulum breve and preputial adhesion.

Circumcision is not the only option for treating phimosis. Conservative treatment methods are effective in more than 90% of cases for young men.

Please say at least roughly how old you are if you're asking for advice.

There are two very different types of phimosis.

⋅ The foreskin normally grows with the rest of the penis. Congenital phimosis results when the foreskin fails to grow. This is a normal developmental condition that occurs in a small fraction of men (around 5%). In most cases it can be resolved with a gentle tension regimen to stimulate growth.

Pathological phimosis is a serious inflammatory skin condition also known as lichen sclerosus or balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) that makes the skin grow thin and white and progressively tighter. It may be treatable without surgery in some cases, or it may require surgery. r/lichensclerosus is about pathological phimosis.

Related foreskin problems

Frenulum breve is the condition where the frenulum is too short restricting full retraction.

Urology Online: Frenulum Breve

Preputial adhesion with intact foreskin is usually a minor skin connection that can be separated (adhesiolysis) with gentle traction over time.
(Preputial adhesion may also occur as a complication of infant circumcision, in which case it more likely requires surgical correction.)

Preputial adhesions A misunderstood entity

Paraphimosis is a potential medical emergency where the foreskin becomes trapped behind the corona and swells forming a tight band of constricting tissue. It is a common accident medical professionals make with infants. It can be prevented by returning the prepuce to cover the glans by holding the penis with the palm and fingers of one or both hands and pressing the glans down with one or both thumbs to squeeze the blood out of the glans at the same time as pulling the skin back up over the glans.

Paraphimosis: Current Treatment Options (2000)

Fungal infection (penile thrush/yeast infection/jock itch) is a common problem with phimosis. Fungal infections cause dry, chapped, easily cracked skin that may itch or burn and easily tear. The tears may feel like paper cuts. Fungal infection can make stretching ineffective even with corticosteroid cream.

In most cases fungal infections are easily avoided with better hygiene before sleep. Soap is not advised but a clean washcloth should help. It may help to moisturize after washing especially with a product that cannot support fungal growth like castor oil, olive oil or mineral oil.

When hygiene alone is insufficient, there are anti-fungal products like clotrimazole cream. Brand names of over-the-counter products include Canesten, Mycelex and Lotrimin AF. They are most effective when applied after washing before going to sleep. If over-the-counter products are ineffective, a doctor can prescribe stronger products.

Phimosis but I have no clue what to do

I have phimosis and it’s not so much I have no clue what to do it’s more afraid I’d say it’s pretty tight to the point I can’t retract over the head at all so when it comes time to Yk I know it’ll be too much of a risk I also don’t want my parents to know (UK if it matters 17m)

Phimosis worse with time?

Hi everyone. I've had mild phimosis (I think 2 on the scale) since puberty, before that I was at one point forcibly retracted as a small child so it's likely that's the origin of the problem. I'm pretty sure that back in February I caused myself further damage by forcing my foreskin back quite extremely for prolonged periods of time - it wasn't overtly painful but it was hard to tell as I spent around 4 or 5 days quite high and turned on so I possibly didn't notice it.

My foreskin could retract fully if I tried but I have a short frenulum and it would never do it by itself, and I definitely have an uncomfortable phimotic ring which is still quite tight even though I can fully retract.

In the last few months this however has gotten much worse and I've found it harder to retract. I'm guessing it's a result of the tissue damage I probably gave myself in February but honestly it just keeps getting worse. In the past few days it's been even quite painful to just pull it back flaccid after going to the toilet. This never used to be an issue.

Have I harmed myself irreparably and if not, why is my problem getting worse even though I'm trying to be gentler? I stopped stretching because it seemed to only cause more harm. Should I keep stretching? I'm worried it'll only get worse if I try again. Has it gotten worse for anyone else and how do I solve this?

Painful Phimosis

Hi, i’m going to make this as short as possible. I’m 21 right now and have phimosis. I got prescribed a gel to get rid of it but it stopped working and I could only barely ever pull my foreskin back soft. When i fully pulled my foreskin back for the first time i realized how painful everything was to touch (glans/head) , even the tip of my foreskin. It is unbearably uncomfortable to touch even with toilet paper and the feeling never goes away. The only time i don’t feel it is when it’s not being touched by anything of the outside world, basically making sex impossible. I saw a doctor and they said that they recommend circumcision, to make everything used to the outside world. He also said he’s never heard of this before and neither had I so here I am making this. Anyone ever experience this before? any tips to get rid of it? Thanks

Are there 2 phimotic rings? Hence the inserts fail to work ideally as advertised.

I'm suspecting there are 2 phimotic rings, the Phimostop video seems completely wrong. Because there are two areas that are painful whenever trying to put on a tube:

https://preview.redd.it/sdjcd5wzczxd1.png?width=765&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb368c8bf43710465d76c606229d86395a88fa5c

1 red) seems to correspond to the tip when you are not doing anything. When you pull down it squeezes and you see it in the shape. When you pull up this part gets caught when you are going up a tube size and hurts.

2 purple) seems to be wherever it is you can pull back to. You can't pull further than this and it hurts when you get to the max. What's more it tries to slide under the tube and push the tube out. All for the tubes with the bases it tends to get squished under the base and not actually stretched. That's why it hurts when you tap the end of the tube sometimes because the base is half cutting into the purple ring.

When you get it in, you hope it is like the 3rd pic. There would be no pain.

As you stretch I assume both of these rings get larger and the position of the actual purple ring will keep moving away from the position of the red ring which will always be the tip. It also means the tube needs to be taller than the distance between these two rings. As the tubes don't actually get longer that means eventually the tubes will fail too help you stretch most likely the second ring.

Once the 2nd ring slips off the tube at the end, it actively pushes the tube out very quickly. You feel pain as the purple ring scrapes the bottom of the tube.

When should I be able to retract flaccid after using rings?

I am currently using Phimocure. I am up to 26mm ring right now and was wondering if anyone knew at what ring size I should be able to retract while flaccid? I haven't tried it out of fear of paraphimosis so far, but I am curious if there was a specific ring size that denoted when to try. I would appreciate any information or advice anyone may have.

How long do you keep your rings in for per day?

I keep them in for around 1-2 hours. Anyone else noticed success with just this amount?

Foreskin stuck under glans when erect

Hello, Posting from a burner account. I, 27 M, realised that I have tight foreskin. I did some stretching exercises for a week or two and used castor oil as lubricant which helped me with the tightness. Till today, my skin did stretch about halfway on glans (when flaccid and erect) and always rolled inwards towards glans when retracting back to normal. Today, while showering, I kinda put a little extra pressure which brought the foreskin and showed the complete glans but foreskin got stuck under glans (it was erect) and didn't budge at all for quite sometime. After a little push-pull on skin, I saw some kind of white liquid coming out of the skin which was stuck which stopped after washing it once under water and the skin came back to normal with the help of castor oil and when penis became flaccid. My questions in this situation are:

  1. What could have been the white liquid?
  2. How can I avoid my foreskin being stuck under the glans again and move it exactly how it should?
  3. My foreskin is currently burning (it feels like inflammation but there's no swelling), how do I spot any chances of infection and how do I treat it?

Thank you in advance

Can't pull back when erect

All the posts in this sub are related to extreme phimosis, in which you can't pull back even when flaccid. I never had any problems pulling back when flaccid, but can't do it when erect. And, it's been like an year, when I pull back when flaccid, I feel a lot of friction....it's like there is no natural lubrication on my glans.

For the note, I have been a prone masturbator all my life...I did go to a doctor and he said that prone masturbation doesn't cause any problem, although I don't know how much we should believe him since he also said (no surprise) that the only solution is circumcision. I have left prone, and the problem doesn't seem to improve.

Please recommend some natural solution, thanks.

Should I go through with it?

I'm 18 yrs old and I have phimosis, I've been going to the doctor for a long time and attempted to apply a cream through multiple periods.

My foreskin can go past my glans when not erected. When it is stiff I cannot get the foreskin more down than half way.

If been advised to get a procedure done, where I get a cut on the frenulum horisontally and then it will get sown back vertically or something. I've been looking for people's experiences. Do you think I should proceed with the operation?

It doesn't hurt or anything, it's annoying that I can't get it all the way down, and could imagine it will be unejoyable to have sexual pleasure to say it that way.

Urologist physical exam gave me phimosis

I'm a 33 year old uncircumcised American male and saw a urologist 7 months ago for low T/fertility treatment. During my appointment he wanted to do a genital exam which I reluctantly agreed to. During his exam he saw I was uncircumcised which surprised him as I live in the number 1 circumcised state in the country (WV). He asked if I had any problems with my foreskin. I never had any issues so I said no never. He then grabbed my foreskin and retracted it back very quickly and roughly. Then squeezed my glans hard and stretched open my meatus (pee hole). Then squeezed the glans and stretched out my penis too far and did some more squeezing on the shaft causing it to entirely go numb.

To make a long story short it's been 7 months my entire penis is still completely numb with total erectile dysfunction that's unresponsive to ED meds. My glans is completely soft and dead. My foreskin is also extremely tight when I manage to get a partial erection. It doesn't want to retract back over the glans easily anymore. I can force it back but it's so tight and uncomfortable now which was never ever an issue before. I have no idea what the uro has done to me. I've seen many other doctors and they are clueless.

Does anyone know why I would now have phimosis after this exam?

Scar tissue

Has anyone else developed tougher skin (maybe scar tissue) on their foreskin after extensive stretching? And if so how did you resolve it.

Advise - For future

Hey Guys, I (M26) am new very new in this community. I am unfortunately virgin and I have type 3 phimosis.

Whenever I masturbate I got good erections, Hard and I can maintain it normally.

But this month when I got a chance to have sex. I lost erection right when i was trying to penetrate her. Before that my penis was fully hard.

I tried this at home with a fleshlight, even with some consumption of viagra. But the results were same disappointing.

Is this because of Phimosis or this is something to do with ED??

Let's begin

I've started my journey to fixing my phimosis.

I bought silicone rings and a steroid cream. Took me a while to work out how to use the rings, but this community helped.

Started on the 14mm and have had it in all day so far. I'll change to 16mm tomorrow and see what happens.

Wish me luck! 🤞

First big win

For the first time since I can remember, I can easily stretch my foreskin all the way below the head while soft smoothly with and without lube. It glides down without any pain. Erect, it’s still not completely back but hopefully that’s the next step :)

Stretching twice a day for around 10 minutes.

You folks here saved me.

Why haven’t any of these full body deodorant brands came out with a spray for the glans yet?

Just saying… it would be cool as hell if one of these brands came up with a safe spray that intact man can spray on their glans.

I have phimosis but I want to avoid going to an urologist

I have had phimosis for a couple of years now, and normally it has never been an issue for me, I can masturbate with no issues nor pain whatsoever. However, I’ve recently started dating and the fact that I have phimosis not only takes a tool on me when it comes to being embarrassed with myself, but also it started to create some discomfort during any sexual intercourse, even with just a handjob. Thankfully my boyfriend is very okay with it and understands that it causes me some discomfort so he’s not rough with it, but that means that I can’t fully enjoy sexual intercourse to its fullest.

I could go to a urologist but honestly, I’ve had some pretty bad experiences with it and I’m kinda afraid of going to one. The first time I went to one it was back when I was 8 years old, and back then, I also suffered from phimosis. He got it fixed without the need of circumcision, but he forcefully retracted my foreskin back and applied some creams on it, and let me tell you, I’m 24 years old now and I’ve never felt such an insane amount of pain like the one I endured during that urology visit back when I was 8, I was so scared from it that even after fixing it, and since I was so young and never really understood back then the whole thing of why I needed to pull it back, that I actually never pulled it back. But yeah, there was a point in my life where I was cured from phimosis and i could pull it back for a couple of years, until I started developing it again.

And that brings us back to the present. I would really love to fix it. Honestly if I was given the chance to go to a urologist knowing that he would do a procedure to cure me from it pain free, I would go. I would also like to avoid circumcision if necessary, only on last resort. Are there any tips for me to see if I could fix it at home without the need of buying rings or stretching kits?
