A place to discuss non-surgical solutions for tight foreskin from phimosis, frenulum breve and preputial adhesion

This is a place to share information about tight foreskin and talk to others who have fixed their issues with tight foreskin problems, phimosis, frenulum breve and preputial adhesion.

Circumcision is not the only option for treating phimosis. Conservative treatment methods are effective in more than 90% of cases for young men.

Please say at least roughly how old you are if you're asking for advice.

There are two very different types of phimosis.

⋅ The foreskin normally grows with the rest of the penis. Congenital phimosis results when the foreskin fails to grow. This is a normal developmental condition that occurs in a small fraction of men (around 5%). In most cases it can be resolved with a gentle tension regimen to stimulate growth.

Pathological phimosis is a serious inflammatory skin condition also known as lichen sclerosus or balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) that makes the skin grow thin and white and progressively tighter. It may be treatable without surgery in some cases, or it may require surgery. r/lichensclerosus is about pathological phimosis.

Frenulum breve is the condition where the frenulum is too short restricting full retraction.

Preputial adhesion with intact foreskin is usually a minor skin connection that can be separated (adhesiolysis) with gentle traction over time.
(Preputial adhesion may also occur as a complication of infant circumcision, in which case it more likely requires surgical correction.)

Preputial adhesions A misunderstood entity

Paraphimosis is a potential medical emergency where the foreskin becomes trapped behind the corona and swells forming a tight band of constricting tissue. It is a common accident medical professionals make with infants. It can be prevented by returning the prepuce to cover the glans by holding the penis with the palm and fingers of one or both hands and pressing the glans down with one or both thumbs to squeeze the blood out of the glans at the same time as pulling the skin back up over the glans.

Fungal infection (penile thrush/yeast infection/jock itch) is a common problem with phimosis. Fungal infections cause dry, chapped, easily cracked skin that may itch or burn and easily tear. The tears may feel like paper cuts. Fungal infection can make stretching ineffective even with corticosteroid cream.

In most cases fungal infections are easily avoided with better hygiene before sleep. Soap is not advised but a clean washcloth should help. It may help to moisturize after washing especially with a product that cannot support fungal growth like castor oil, olive oil or mineral oil.

When hygiene alone is insufficient, there are anti-fungal products like clotrimazole cream. Brand names of over-the-counter products include Canesten, Mycelex and Lotrimin AF. They are most effective when applied after washing before going to sleep. If over-the-counter products are ineffective, a doctor can prescribe stronger products.

Bf had smegma, is it inevitable?

I feel really bad bringing this up but my bf has phimosis although I’m not sure what his severity is, it’s his biggest insecurity so I prefer not to bring it up.

But last time I was giving him head and noticed there was some smegma coming out, I tried to wipe it off but he asked to do it instead since the way I was doing it hurt. I kept going with the head afterwards anyway because I didn’t wanna upset him but I wanted to stop tbh.

Is it inevitable for every guy with (at least somewhat severe) phimosis to have smegma? I’m not sure what to do because I don’t want to be rude, especially because I know he’s a clean person so this is probably something he can’t control.

The reason I’m bringing this up here is because I wanted to ask what you guys would prefer ur gf to do if u were in this situation

Thanks :)

ChatGPT

In people experience, how accurate is ChatGPT with its information?

I ask it some deep questions about my own particular symptoms and day-to-day problems and it comes with some seriously good answers that completely make sense to the untrained eye. But, is it full of shit? Should I believe it?

I'm taking everything with a pinch of salt at the moment.

For example, I asked it: My phimosis band is considerably whiter during and after drinking alcohol, why?

It answered: It’s interesting that you’ve noticed a change in the color of your phimosis band during and after drinking alcohol. This could be due to alcohol's effects on blood circulation and the tissues in your body. Here’s a possible explanation:

  1. Vasoconstriction: Alcohol can initially cause vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), leading to redness in some areas. However, it may also result in vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels) in some tissues as the effects wear off. Reduced blood flow could make the tissue appear whiter or less pink.

  2. Dehydration: Alcohol is a diuretic and can dehydrate your body. Dehydration affects skin and tissue health, potentially making areas like the phimosis band look paler or whiter.

  3. Skin Irritation or Sensitivity: Alcohol consumption can sometimes increase inflammation or sensitivity in tissues. If you have mild irritation or changes in the phimosis area, alcohol may amplify these symptoms, including visual changes.

  4. Underlying Condition: Rarely, a significant change in color might indicate poor circulation or other underlying issues. If the change in whiteness is persistent, noticeable, or accompanied by other symptoms like pain, swelling, or discomfort, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.

If you’re concerned or if this change seems unusual or recurrent, it’s always a good idea to get it checked by a doctor for reassurance and tailored advice.

I get it, it's AI and it's pulling information from all over the internet, but we do know it just randomly lies, too.

What's other people's experiences like?

Help regarding phimosis

So I am a teenager suffering from phimosis and recently i started stretching by using coconut oil and hot water. I was almost able to expose my glans like 80% of my glans was visible but I stopped retracting my foreskin cause I felt scared and nervous that I might get paraphimosis. I also want clean my penis cause I got to know about smegma but I am still reluctant regarding pulling foresking fully. What should I do?

Can't retract when flaccid

I am 20M and cannot retract my foreskin past 1/4th of glans even when the penis is flaccid. I've masterbated for years without any discomfort but got to know that I had phimosis a year back. When I am flaccid, I try to stretch the foreskin as far back as I can in the shower but there is a ring formation that does not allow the foreskin to slide back more than 1/4th of glans. How can I resolve the phimosis without having circumcision and using rings (glans is hypersensitive so cannot make it touch the undergarment too). I am doing the stretching in showers, how long will it take to pull back my foreskin to atleast 1/2th length of glans when flaccid?

Anybody else get so confused in here with many people saying different things

So I have type 4 phimosis which is quite inconvenient.. anyway I swear it’s impossible to get answers about it in here. Some people tell you you need to get circumcised other people say don’t get circumcised it’s a bad idea. Some people say sex is impossible in here with bad phimosis other people say sex is super manageable and easy with tight phimosis. I guess it all comes down to individual experiences I would say but I’m really not sure because I’m only 18

What is the fastest way to cure phimosis? (16 y/o, Type 4 pinhole)

I’ve been scrolling through this sub and I’m not really sure what do. I’ve had this all my life and when I was younger I could stretch it, but still noting significant just allowing me to see my urethra when erect and nothing when soft, and it seems my foreskin has only gotten tighter.

The Steroid creams I’ve seen recommended seem to have their downsides with cracked skin and the thinning of the foreskin.

Circumcision seems to be an outright no, and I was never considering it as I live in the UK(but it seems to be the quickest) and it’s incredibly painful.

I don’t think my foreskin opening is remotely large enough to fit rings in and I think the head is far too sensitive to get anywhere near it.

I see people saying it can take them years until they can fully retract and to be that sounds incredibly frustrating. All I can do as of right now is pull on the outside of foreskin and stretch it back and forth(is this what stretching is or is it sticking your fingers in the opening in an attempt to widen the hole)

I’ve seen some people saying that leaving it the way it is best and the regret getting rid off their phimosis, but it’s so embarrassing not just to women, but to men too. It’s made me anxious when met with intimate situations and leaves me constantly anxious whenever in a towel. And I haven’t even begun on the fears on hygiene problems.

Any help really is appreciated, it really feels like I’m living w/ a curse.

Diagnosis?

I went to the GP , saying I believed I had phimosis. He asked me to roll back my foreskin. I did. He said it was normal and if I went to a urologist they could do nothing. I said it only became tighter when erect and he just said I should maybe stretch it more? it does retract but not by a huge amount.

Question about stretching rings.

Please excuse the ignorant question, but I’ve recently started using a ‘Phimocure’ kit to loosen up a stenosis that I have when I retract my foreskin past the head of my glans penis when I have an erection. Basically it will retract over the head when erect, but wont go any further.. I’ll also notice a white stretching of the skin as a band if I were to pull back further. There is no pain. When limp, I can retract all the way until I run out of skin, very easily.

However.. I cannot, after multiple attempts get my foreskin over and into the recess of a ring that I feel is suitable for me to start on.

Am i meant to have an erection when I use these stretching rings? Any advice, or tips would be very welcome.

Help? Phimosis in erection.

Hi! I had pretty severe phimosis as a child, I could not retract even flaccid without being in the shower, without wetting the penis. When I wet it, I could retract it but the foreskin remained under the glans. I needed to squeeze the glans to pull it back. Over time, I kept forcing to retract and I managed to do it in flaccid, dry and to be able to pull the foreskin back over the glans easily. In erection it was impossible. With time, I stretched a little and now I can retract in 50% erection very easily and the foreskin can be pulled over the glans easily, 0 problems, 100% normal. The problem is when it passes 50% erection and the glans gets bigger, I can no longer retract, or I can, but the foreskin remains trapped under the glans. At 100% erection, for example, if I force it (quite hard), it goes under the glans completely, I can barely see the foreskin, I can't get it to come over the glans because it's under the corona and strangles my glans. What can i do? I can retract, but once the foreskin is retracted, it strangles my glans and it is impossible to bring it back.. (I'm a grower too and glans is bigger than the shaft so it's even worse for me.. doesn't help at all).

What can I do? I am 20y old and sex is impossible because of this.
