A subreddit for sharing links and discussion of anything related to the Nickelodeon series, The Adventures of Pete & Pete.
The Adventures of Pete & Pete is an American children's television series produced by Wellsville Pictures and broadcast by Nickelodeon. The show featured humorous and surreal elements in its narrative, and many recurring themes centered on two brothers both named Pete Wrigley, and their various interactions with family, friends, and enemies.
The show was created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi and began as minute-long shorts in 1989 that aired in between regular programs. Owing to the popularity of the shorts, five half-hour specials were made, followed by a regular half-hour series that ran for three seasons (1993–1996) and continued in reruns until around 1999. The N (now TeenNick) aired reruns of the show between 2002–2003. The first two seasons were released on DVD in 2005; the third was planned for 2006 but was indefinitely postponed.
Jason Ankeny of Allmusic called the series "the greatest children's show ever," while IGN called it "One of the most well-written kids shows ever."

Hallo in die Runde,
da man Pete&Pete in deutscher Sychro ja nirgends bekommen kann: hat jemand alle Folgen und könnte mir einen Link als Privatnachricht senden? Ewige Dankbarkeit wäre der Lohn.
This is the music that plays at the end of "Farewell, My Little Viking part 2" when Artie says goodbye to little Pete.
Heard in the episode, "Halloweenie".
This stock music track has been used alot on the show.
There's an interview with Alison Fanelli on YouTube with her brother. She briefly mentioned Pete and Pete was shot on film. I'll try to briefly explain why that is significant.
For the first decades of television, the cameras used film just like movies. It was probably a less expensive film but worth noting. Around the 80s, magnetic tape is a mature medium and cheaper than film. Easier to edit too. So it becomes the standard in television. The downside is that tape resolution is pretty low compared to film. It's stuck at 480 lines for North America, and it's a completely different way of capturing light. Film can be upscaled by projecting it onto a screen and "recording" it with an HD camera. Because film captures a lot of tiny details, the HD recording looks great. Magnetic tape can't do that because it recorded fewer details than film. Computers and upscale algorithms are used to intepolate the transition of 480 lines to 1080 lines.
Anyway. A few TV shows were shot on film because many show runners preferred the quality. They were willing to eat the extra cost. Star Trek TNG is an example of a show that used film instead of tape I'm the 80s and 90s. A few others did too. It tended to be bigger budget "flagship" shows that had a specific aesthetic. For a kids show airing on cable,. I think it's pretty remarkable they paid for film.
So this means if the original films were preserved, the rights could be secured, and there was financial incentive, it could be possible. I actually own several 80s and 90s shows on Blu Ray. Usually a smaller media publisher buys the rights, pays for the upscale process, and sells the discs. I don't think the big studios are interested in releasing niche shows on home video anymore. But occasionally they still licence them out. I'm going to be hopeful.
One other thing I didn't mention is digital special effects. They're usually made and recorded to a separate film or tape and then overlayed. That can be tricky for any HD release, because the resolution of the digital effects is usually low, like tape. For Star Trek TNG a company remade every single CGI effect of every episode in a higher resolution in a style that matched the show. In another SciFi show, Babylon 5, they used the live action film to upscale, but reused the original CGI sources. I had no major complaints but it is noticeable in some shots. For Pete and Pete there weren't a lot of digital effects. But I can remember for example the rocket pack little Pete wears in the new years episode. Or anytime pete used his security/spy cameras they sometimes had an overlay.
Anyway, a nightcrawler can dream. I'd just be happy to get S3 on DVD like they announced. I even found the card in my S2 DVDs saying it's coming soon.
I'm re-watching the S1 and S2 dvds and I never noticed just how many guest stars they had that were already-established actors. Given who they were at the time, I thought they would have passed on appearing on a kids show. I can't really remember another show having this many, except for maybe Big Time Rush.
Off the top of my head I can think of Steve Buscemi, Janeane Garofalo, Iggy Pop, Michael Stipe, Bebe Neuwirth, Chris Elliot, and LL Cool J.
Some of them aren't huge stars, but I still think they were bigger than appearing on a kids show. I'm happy they did though.
I’m looking for the episode where Openface is flirting while holding a magnifying glass and, of course, a sandwich. Something about melting the cheese with her beauty?
Mark’s label, Mezzotint, is having a holiday sale. 25% off with code MezzoXmas.
The Pete & Pete vinyl set is excluded but other Polaris merch qualifies for the discount, like hats and shirts.
Check it out at Mezzotint.com and support the music of Pete & Pete
Does anyone know if there’s any specific episodes of Danny and Mikes podcast that talks about the show?
I really wish they made more Pete and Pete Merch!
I tweaked my Halloweenie drawing from a few years ago and think it looks much better now. Happy Halloween, gut buckets.
I haven't downloaded music since Limewire and Napster were a thing. Hope this is okay to ask here, but is this album available for free download anywhere? I was looking on ebay, and, sheeeesh, nostalgia comes at a high price.
I’m bored with most new series. And this year I decided to go down nostalgia lane and watch old Nickelodeon shows.
I first watched Hey Arnold, which I had vivid memories of. But last month after getting sick and staying home for a week I rediscovered The Adventures of Pete and Pete.
I was born in 1992 so my memories of the show were very faint. All I remember is the intro had an X-ray image and there was an episode in which someone was sucked through a restroom hand dryer and that made me an afraid of them as a child lol.
What a surreal and unique show! From the indie theme music (Caitlyn’s Way did a good job with this as well,) to the eccentric characters, to the unusual ways of teaching us life lessons.
I loved the episode with Mr. Tastee and how some people remain mysteries in our lives. And I love “X=Why.” Miss Fingerwood is the best algebra teacher ever!
It was fun rediscovering this show and from the perspective of an adult. I’ve rewatched several episodes ever since.
Miss Fingerwood reminded me of the math teachers I had in middle school: kind, demanding, socially inept, having a profound love of math, and seemingly in another universe
What kind of name is Hub?
I'm guessing it's maybe a one-syllable short form of Hubbard.
So, odds are it may have been a nod to his last name as lots of other short names can sometimes be, seeing as Hubbard is often a last name rather than a first name, so maybe his first name is undisclosed (adjective).
The character I'm talking about is from that episode where a phone rings for 27 years, and the pavement is scorching hot.
and, another thing to know, hub is mostly known as a noun referring to an object, or metaphor for the "center" of something, so maybe he used it as a street name with his ties to the "center" or something.
One thing I did, I went onto YouTube to inspect the tracks to make sure they weren't blocked. I tested most tracks heard in the show, except for some tracks from APM Music, and well, none of them got blocked!
thank god most of them are still streamable in the USA.
One of my favorite tracks from the show is Circuit Diagram by Nice, I was particularly worried that, that song would get blocked by SESAC.
Does anyone know what episode contains the lawn mowing footage used in the show’s opening?
I’m making an homage video and wanted to use clean footage.
Thanks!
That album is so incredibly good and totally underrated. I get it’s not an official band. And with that, Miracle Legion is also such an underrated band, it’s a shame.
But anyway, the soundtrack to Pete and Pete is so fucking amazing. Literally every song on there is perfect. Nostalgia may have a part of it, but if you play it for someone who has never seen or heard of the show or knows who ML/Polaris. I guarantee they will be a fan of that album.
Also, She is Staggering is such an amazing love song! I would put it amongst my favorites along with “Something” by the Beatles.
And “Everywhere” gets me emotional everytime I hear it. I’ve lost two friends that I knew in high school. And I miss them dearly. So when I hear that song, I remember them and all the memories we had. And I know even though they’re not here. They literally are everywhere. ❤️❤️
He’s in more episodes than Artie or Nona. I can’t seem to google it in a way to find out. I’m sure it’s a background actor or something but I can’t figure it out. Anyone know?
