Is it ok to play with dolls/toys if my inner age is older?

Hi....

My inner age is 12 going on 13... I like lip gloss and nail polish and cute fashion... but I also really like to buy dolls. Especially fashion dolls like monster high and the disney descendents dolls... And American Girl.

I do collect them... but I like to play with them too... I remember feeling embarrassed when I was biologically 11 to play with dolls.... I'm scared it's weird or means I'm just roleplaying if I play with dolls at my (kid) age...

Struggling with Adult Life

Hoping some other perma kids can relate to these feelings. I'm just having a really hard time coping with being an adult and having what seems like sooo much to take care of.

I miss when the consequence for not doing my laundry or cleaning my room was that my Mom would be annoyed and I wouldn't get as much pocket money. Or when I did my chores well, having somebody else be really proud of me and even give me a reward.

Now the consequence is I have dirty laundry and nothing to wear, and my room is messy. Doing my chores isn't something I will do cuz I'm a 'good kid' - it's just expected. It's really hard to motivate myself to do any of this stuff lately, honestly.

Your ideal PermaKid space!

Hey kiddos,

If you could have one space to make completely your own, what would it be like? Maybe a bedroom with a comfy bed and lots of stuffed animals, and a nightlight? Or a playroom with neatly organized toys and space to play?

It could even be outside! I know a lot of kids who'd love to have a playground or swingset in a big yard to play on.

Talk to a Grown-Up

Hello all :)

I had an idea for a thread where PermaKids can speak to an adult as their real age. I know this isn't something every PK wants, but I have seen how validating and affirming it has been for the children (and teens) in older bodies in my life. So hopefully it will help others too!

Reply to this post and I (Jacob, he/him) will respond appropriately. Feel free to talk about anything, positive or negative, that is on your mind. :)

Do you prefer kids stuff from your first childhood, or newer stuff?

Just wondering how other people feel.

In the past I've always wanted to have things from my first childhood, which was in the late 90s, early 2000s. I bought a Pikachu Nintendo 64, and I put a virtual machine on my computer so I could play my old PC games x3 And tbh the fashion is way cuter from back then - I'm glad it's having a revival now.

But there's also something really exciting about NEW stuff and media. Reading kids books from 2002 makes me feel like I'm going back in time for a moment, but I feel like myself (aka a kid) the most when I am amazed by new games and fun stuff for the first time. I love trying new things - I'm learning to sew!

...But I still definitely wanna have an old Windows 95 computer with a big CRT monitor one day XD
