Pelargonium enthusiasts
Pelargonium is a genus of flowering plants which includes about 280 species of perennials, succulents, and shrubs, commonly known as geraniums, pelargoniums, or storksbills.
Pelargonium species are evergreen perennials indigenous to warm temperate and tropical regions of the world, with many species in southern Africa. They are drought and heat tolerant, but can tolerate only minor frosts. Some species are extremely popular garden plants, grown as houseplants and bedding plants in temperate regions. They have a long flowering period, with flowers mostly in red, orange, or white; but intensive breeding has produced a huge array of cultivars with great variety in size, flower colour, leaf form and aromatic foliage.

This is “pelargonium odoratissimum”. It seems happy enough and is flowering like crazy. However - its substantial size means it’s outgrowing its usual windowsill home. How can I take cuttings from it? It doesn’t grow in the same form as my angel eye-type and my “pagoda.”
I’m collecting seed but I would like to shape the plant if possible.
I need help with my pelargonium! I do not have a green thumb at all.
I grew this plant from a seed as a class project, started it back in September of last year. I didn’t know much about pruning or how to encourage the right sort of growth, so she ended up quite leggy. Then, all her lower leaves withered and fell off, while the top end thrived and has flowered several times over the past 4 months.
Is there any way to fix her so she isn’t so unwieldy? Is it a lost cause?
Hi, I’m new to this group. Just wondering if it is a place for pelargonium identification as well as pics. Thanks
Any pelergonium collectors in Minnesota? North Dakota? Looking to buy plants for my collection. I'm from Canada and there are only a few states from which I can bring plants home from
I’ve recently come into possession of some pelargoniums. They’re neat, but I just don’t get the same enjoyment out of them as I do with euphorbs, cacti, orchids, and caudiciforms.
I have small plants of the following species (links go to pictures of actual plants):
I’m looking to trade these plants for aroids or any tropical houseplants with interesting growth habit or foliage (mail or local).
If you're local to Scotts Valley, CA area, I'd also just give them to you if you promise to take good care of them :) They're interesting little guys and deserve a home where they'll be appreciated.
Just want advice on pruning a fairly old large pelargonium? It has become quite woody.should i cut it back to roots?
