I hope the formatting of this post will turn out okay. Yesterday the Pennsylvania Harris team sent out this email (posted by @luckydiorxoxo on tumblr) to encourage bilingual speakers to join them with phone banking and reaching out to voters! 

I’m sure y’all have heard/read about how the latest Republican rally in Madison Square garden featured a ‘comedian’ who called Puerto Rico ‘a floating island of garbage in the ocean’. He also said ‘Latinos love making babies, there’s no pulling out - they don’t do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country’, and then continued to talk one of his ‘black buddies’ and how they carved watermelons together. This is the event that Tr*mp described as a ‘love fest’. 

Many Puertorican and Latino folks, including in the entertainment industry, have spoken up in the past days about the disgusting demeanor that is right in line with how that campaign has been talking about immigrants and people of color. Yesterday Pedro shared a short clip of Benicio Del Toro talking about the pride for Puerto Rico, which was part of a longer video that is now posted to Bad Bunny’s Insta that talks about the beauty of the island and the resilience and talent of the population of Puerto Rico (which IS part of the US). With less than a week until the election, there are massive events like phone banking sessions to make such every voter - especially in swing states - is reached, and personally I’m glad to see how Pedro seems to be joining the PA outreach team 🙌

I’m including screen captures of further instructions for people to join this bilingual phone banking effort tonight - plus instructions on how it’ll work. Also included is an important note by @wyn-n-tonic to ONLY JOIN THIS EVENT IF YOU CAN SPEAK ENGLISH *AND* SPANISH so you can actually help in the way that has to happen, and not just stare at an appearance by Pedro. Please take this to heart!! Someone will end up recording this (as always happens) so you’ll get to see it somewhere online afterwards; don’t slow the outreach down. 💜
