What's a payphone? Payphones are phones found in public that are coin operated. You insert quarters, dimes or nickels and can make a call anywhere after inserting the coins and dialing a number.
Payphones used to be found all over the place but are disappearing very rapidly.
Most businesses these days have removed them from their establishments by now.
At /r/Payphones, we're here to remind people of their endangered existence and soon to be extinct existence.
They're a technology that should be used more often.
We allow pics, videos and discussions, and news about payphones including abandoned ones.
Don't be a jerk. We're here to enjoy the sub.

Bought the kiosk a few years ago and restored it. Picked up the phone later. Original Michigan Bell livery. It works great and can make and receive calls. Still has the coin relay, but of course that requires CO signaling to actually work.
