I just recently found out about Pathfinder Adventure Card Game after finding a bunch of decks on sale on Paizo's website. I'm sad I missed out on when this game was bigger, but that's just how it goes. If I wanted to play now, how would y'all recommend I do so? I saw that there is a steam version (that's currently on sale), and people seem to say it's pretty serviceable for solo play. What about if I wanted to play with friends? Should I just pick up the core set, or are there other add ons that yall recommend (like additional decks, APs, etc)?
Hello!
Just picked up this game and creating my character deck now. Thought of giving 1p go either Merisel in skull and shackles.
Curious why the game recommends pistol and dagger for base deck when there is pistol +1 and dagger +1. Should I pickup +1? Feels weird but I the same time I see nowhere it saying you can’t?
If anyone knows!
Didn't find any mentions of this card in any rules. Is he an extra card that always goes into the deck on top of all other cards? Or does he go instead of one of the companion cards? Or is he just automatically placed on the table near Varian as soon as the game starts?
As an adjacent question, is there some booklet that says which cards are recommended for Crimson Throne expansion characters? Am I missing it in my box?
Thank you :)
EDIT: Looks like it's sold. I hope someone from here snapped it up!
I know it's tough to come by, so if anyone is looking for the Ultimate Combat Add-On Deck to complete your collection, there's one currently on eBay (as of 8:36 AM Eastern time, 12:36 UTC).
I was so happy when I found my copy, I hope this helps someone else the same way!
Good morning, I plan on getting some promos from the paizo site to add some flavor to my game. How many blessings are too much to add to the game and how many are too little? I feel like adding 4 of the same one makes the most sense, but I was wondering if that was too many and I should keep it at 1. What do yall think?
Is curse of the Crimson throne the only expansion for the core set? It looks like the rest are different base games.
Howdy! I’m Dink and I’m inviting any who might like to try a Play by Post Adventure Card Game experience. We will be playing a version of the Rise of the Runelords game - a variant called Shield of Rannick.
Happy to walk any inexperienced folks with Play by Post card game through it. Follow the link below to the recruitment for the game and we can chat there.
Hit me up with a DM for any other questions. I’ve got seats for 3 more players! Recruitment will stay open through this coming weekend (ending ~72hrs after this post, or when we fill the seats, whatever comes first).
Happy Fri the 13th!

I'm really enjoying my first base set , but I generally dislike the randomness of dice rolling. Like, getting a 5 when rolling for max 20. I know some people like dice chucking, I'm just not one of them.
This might be a silly question, as I can't seem to think of one, but are there viable alternatives? Like maybe using the median number for dice rolls (eg. assuming a 10 when rolling for max 20)
So I played with someone with the physical version. I had heggal and really liked him. But I dont have it in the steam version. Anyway to buy/unlock him?
I'm trying to give myself grace with this game, otherwise I might just start hating it. B2 (Elven Entanglement) is kicking my ass, burning through my decks.
I rewound one poor decision I made on one turn because, with this being my second time ever playing this game, I really did not feel up to having a character die.
Are their common home rules to make this scenario playable? I was thinking that allowing tangle traps and the carnivorous stumps to trigger location closing would make this scenario manageable (I've already killed that damn stump twice and I'm only a third way through all the location cards)?
I've read that this base set is hard, so am looking for some beginner advice regarding set up (character/class, how many hands to play solo (I can manage 2-3, but as a beginner less is better I guess?)
I only started on WotR because I got the base set new for $13 on Amazon.
I’m trying to find a set of the CoCT promo cards. Specifically, I’m looking for The Unveiling, The Tall Knife, Asyra, The Real Rabbit Prince, and Corpse Plate. I’ve got Embiggen.
Nothing on EBay or other online sites. Anyone want to sell them to me? I’ll make it worth your while. DM me if we can talk.
I was thinking about making a lackeyccg plugin of the game. Does anyone know of a website that has pics of all the cards for the entire run? If so i will work on the plugin and make it available for everyone.
I have been wanting to play a solo run through of a Pathfinder Adventure Path. Solo’ing prewritten APs is difficult, especially for systems/stories meant to be GM’d.
That said, I wondered if the PF ACG campaigns could be a way to get the story instead of buying the traditional AP books. Like, I wouldn’t play the ACG, but instead use some cards to get the same narrative for my solo ttrpg play.
Is there a way to use the cards to give me the story for a solo play of my own actual PF/PF2e traditional game/play style?
Or is that just not possible? Having never played, I have no real concept of how the actual narrative/story gets told through the cards.
TIA for any ideas/help.
Me and some friends started playing "Island Hopping" last week. We played with 3 people, so we had 5 locations out. We were able to work together and defeat lots of baddies, but ran out of time way early and still had two locations open, one unvisited with a full compliment of cards.
We've perused the rules, but can't seem to figure out how we can churn potentially 50 cards in thirty turns. We got a few extra explore actions from blessings, but even when all went fairly well, meaning hardly any cards put back into the deck, we ended up beating by the timer.
Can anyone guess what we did wrong?
Second problem, if playing the adventure path, we lost one, so if we understand correctly, we have to make new characters and start over. Is this correct?
Hey folks! So I recently started playing the app, and I'm pretty confused at all the bundles and character purchases and such. I did buy the Sorceror plus a skin, I think, because I wanted more than two characters in my party, but I'm hesitant to pick up anything else in the shop because I'm not sure what content is available in other bundles or packs or whatever, and I'd like to make sure that if I buy anything else, that I'm making the most of my money.
Is there a buying guide anywhere or can someone help me understand all the options in the store?
Hi,
This is my first time playing the game, and I've just completed the beginner adventure. I have some questions about the rules:
If I understand correctly, if I fail the banish check after using a spell, the spell goes back to the vault. Isn’t it really restrictive?
Can allies assist me using cards during an encounter even if they are not local to me?
If I don’t have a weapon for combat, can an ally use their weapon to help me?
Is this game dead? Curse of the Crimson Throne came out a few years ago and that was the last I've seen anything. Any word on future releases?
I found the character sheets of three witches in witch deck and have a question about them. Do they have no arcane skill??
Friend and I ran through the first four core sets and I bought all of the supplemental decks, but when 2E came out, it didn't hit right and we never followed up. I've since moved across the country, but it's been so long since I've played, I can't remember - is it feasible to play the old sets with five players? First guess is that it wouldn't work well, but I honestly don't remember and am curious about other people's thoughts or experiences. Thank you!
My whole deck runs off spells. How does this work?
I vastly prefer the second edition (or however it is called officially) to the first. I love the first, but the second is imo just a lot better. So, when I set out to create my custom Kingmaker campaign conversion, I based it on the second edition and used Gimp to create my own very, very bad templates (like, copy&paste stuff around in gimp and hope it looks fine in the end). The results are definitely not fit to ever print, and look alright in the Tabletop Simulator, but even there they are looking rough.
That's why I will probably need to redo the existing cards (I am up to Adventure 3 currently) I created completely from scratch. Are there any tools that are helpful? I have found card templates for 1e cards, but not for 2e - I assume no official templates exist, right? Are there any user made tools or something, like there exist for e.g. Magic cards?
I'm looking to get into this game and heard it's on Android. I see it when I Google it but it won't let me download. Is there a way to download it on Android 14 now?
Edit: Figured it out! I went to moddroid and downloaded the apk and obb files. I had to put the obb in the correct folder then install the apk. It works great now!
I'm currently trying to beat the first stage after the tutorial with a squad of six, and I am constantly getting shit on by RNG. three runs in a row, the villain never turned up, and now two runs in a row, my hyper-specialised mage is failing to close the fucking academy. I've tried having multiple people closing a location at a time, individuals closing their own locations, all 6 ganging up on each location at a time, and nothing seems to be making it any fucking easier. What am I doing wrong?
Using paladin, barbarian, mage, sorcerer, ranger, and bard (admittedly, the bard is not doing me any good right now).
I, like many, have been trying to get my hands on the Ultimate Combat Add-On for ages.
I was browsing Amazon for an unrelated item, and Amazon showed me that an item on my Wishlist was available. Looks like a shop called Bankstons has a handful of copies in stock.
I don't know how reliable the listing is, and at $49.99 it's well over MSRP, but anyone who's been searching for a while knows that's not an unreasonable price.
I've included the link below for convenience, but the listing is atill a bit hard to get to; you have to click the "see all buying options" off of the main Paizo listing.
are the adventure decks for any given base set intended to be played in order or can you a la carte them?
Like do you level up continously over the course of 6 adventures? or over the course of many sessions per adventure deck?
How many skill, power, and card feats are usually earned over the course of an adventure path (and before/after role cards)?
