Low income elderly housing

I’m embarrassed to ask this but I don’t know where to even start with trying to help. My mom (65) lives in Pasco and recently lost her home. Right before the Hurricane she got diagnosed with lung cancer and had a medical emergency that led her to be staying in the hospital for the past two months. She is finally being released and has nowhere to go so she’s staying at motels. The only monthly income she gets is social security and it’s not enough to qualify for regular housing. How do I go about trying to help her get housing? I would love for her to stay with me but I don’t qualify for low income and I don’t think I make enough on my own to support her and me for a two bedroom.

Any local backyard pyro/firework enthusiasts?

Hey just looking for people local to Pasco who love putting on their own shows or backyard displays. To discuss and share tips on how and where the best product is in our area. Trade equipment or display pieces. Good safe places to potentially put on shows or even the best places to watch. I know we all want to beat our neighbors with the best show. I know some shops and stores can be over priced and not have the best product so this is the best way to avoid wasting money. PM me or respond to this if your love fireworks. Ps. I know many people think fireworks do more bad than good but think about this. We only get a couple days a year to light off fireworks and only a few hours of darkness on those limited days. Realize it's only for 10 or so hours a year that you have to deal with the noise. Fireworks have been a way to celebrate for hundred of years in our country they are nothing new.

Open burning allowed?

Is open burning allowed in Pasco? We live in a suburb and my neighbor is burning yard waste and it’s smoking the whole street out and we had our windows open and he smoked our house out. I know in Hillsborough it’s not allowed but I’m not familiar with the law here. I googled it and I’m even more confused. Any guidance?

Does Anyone Know Why The Power Keeps Going Out On Nature Trail (West Pasco)

This is getting so annoying. We didn't have any power problems during all three hurricanes and for some reason, the power went out in the middle of the afternoon Thursday and Duke gave us some stupid story about not getting energy back for 14 hours (it came back in 2 or 3). Now the power is out AGAIN (Saturday) and they're saying it's not going to be fixed for another 12 hours, by which time the perishables I bought to put in the fridge because I thought the hurricanes were done will have to be thrown out. Does anyone know what is going on over here at Nature Trail (off 52)?

I got some lame notice about trees, but the street isn't that long and after Milton I'm pretty sure there aren't that many trees left to fall on electric lines. It came up an hour later, but what's up with these 12/24 hour outage estimates?

Can legal action be pursued?

Hi! Posting this trying to find information for someone else and see if anything can be done. They bought a new house and property in Zephyrhills. Their neighbor was upset he wasn’t able to buy the property and got permits to develop and sort of fill in all the wetlands surrounding their property. The property is not in any flood zone or evacuation zone but during Milton flooded four/five feet of standing water and destroyed their house and the surrounding houses. The water hasn’t gone down at all in the past few weeks following Milton and many people are still stuck unable to get into their homes and don’t have access to fema aid because their houses aren’t accessible due to the water. The overdevelopment and destruction of the wetlands caused numerous properties to flood with the smallest amount of rain and become uninhabitable. Is there any legal action against the county that can be taken or any environmental organizations that can help? Or are these people out of luck :(

Reactive dog

Hi all, new here. Where do you walk your dogs that you’re working on reactivity with? I’m looking for trails that are pretty strict about leash laws or where you’ve seen minimal off leash dogs

Thanks!

Cleaning up/ rebuilding

Hello everyone!

TLDR: from out of state and need help on the process of clean up and rebuilding (permits. inspection, 49% rule)

I am from out of state and need some help with how to go about cleaning up/rebuilding.

I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions related to clean up and possibly rebuilding.

I was able to catch the last hour of the townhall meeting yesterday for Pasco county and heard a few things, but they are still not clear to me. I heard that an inspection is needed in order to start any rebuilding process, is this true? How long will it take to get an inspection if this is needed. I also feel like I heard that there is even a need for a drywall permit. What other permits will be needed to rebuild? The house falls in the high risk flood zone so I am not sure what this also means if we rebuild. The house is uninsured and was a 2nd home, so what I understood from the meeting yesterday, was that FEMA will pretty much not give any sort of assistance related to the home.

Is gas available?

Hello everyone,

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I am coming from out of state to help my in-laws clean out their winter home in Port Richey. We have been told by their relator that there is no gas available in the area. I was wondering if this was true? Also if there is not a gas shortage does anyone know if there is an ethanol-free shortage as it will be needed to run our generator?

Any help for small businesses damaged during Hurricane Milton?

I work for a boarding barn that currently has 26 animals, we had 33 during the storm. We received major damage during Milton, 2 barns were damaged along with a large pavilion and roughly 10 shelters. This has got to be tens of thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, none of these structures could be insured (I don’t have the full info on this, they were permitted and to code). We’re still without power. We looking into SBA loans, but does anyone know of any grants or anything? Anyone who works on wood structures? Maybe a TECO contact? It would be nice to have the well working again.
