Trusted mechanic

I’m in the process of buying a used car in Parker. Does anyone have any trusted mechanics they can recommend for a pre purchase inspection?

Beware of Lifecare at Stonegate's wrongdoing and mistreatment

I was a PRN RN at this facility. They wrongfully terminated me (by mistake allegedly) then made me come in for my shift anyway through a third party, then humiliated me and told me I can't work there through an agency after being terminated. I still have my shifts in my employee app and I had no idea I was being terminated. Allegedly a 5 star facility, this is so disgraceful. I have filled complaints with the Dep of Labor, the EEOS and the state. Don't send your loved ones there, this facility is not a 5 star rehab as stated, it's a joke and is doing a lot of illegal sketchy stuff.

Walk in chiro... what happened?

Anyone know what happened to Dr. Joe? He was my go to guy for adjustments (I am a chiro up the road from him). Just all shut down and closed. Hmmm.

Stop signs

Do people just not know how stop signs work? Is this a forgotten practice ? I was near Parker road going to pick up a food order I placed and I stopped and this gentleman looked to be in a hurry to my left so I let him go and he thanked me. Then I look left and right and proceeded forward. To my amazement a woman GUNS it through the stop sign to my left. I honked at her because she nearly caused a huge accident. She didn’t like that so she laid on her horn and so did I because I was at that point livid she even thinks it’s ok to drive that way and blow a stop sign to a right away driver. She didn’t like I honked back again and slammed her breaks as she was going way to fast and opens her car door. She proceeded to tell me did not have a stop sign on her side so there for I’m wrong. I look to my left to Awh what a shocking shape an OCTAGON 🛑, stop sign, S.T.O.P Sign clear as day to my left where she was coming from. I try to tell her she has a stop sign but she just got more and more aggressive not understanding what she just did and could have caused. I almost felt gas lit! I told her to learn her shapes and rolled up my window as she kept yelling like she was correct. If I could ever come in contact with her again. To bring her allllllll the way back to preschool to learn how to read then learn shapes. Then take another drivers ed course to THEN bring her back to where we were to show her the infamous stop sign she said doesn’t exist. I would.

Where to sell jewelry

I am looking for a fair place to sell some estate jewelry. I went to gold rush in Littleton and I had a very degrading experience so I would like to avoid that company.

Cost to finish a basement in Parker

I’m not sure if this is the best group to put this in, but we are moving to Parker from across the country and some of the houses we like do not have finished basements. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of a general cost of say 1000 square-foot basement And how long the turn around would be. I know there’s a lot of variables, but for conversation sake it would be drywalled, painted, carpeted, lighting electrical. No extras beyond that.

Music teachers for adults?

Hey neighbors,

I’m hoping to find a chill music teacher near Parker. I’m an adult, took lessons up through high school, but have been self taught/not a regularly practicing student since then, and I’m looking for a music teacher. I get bored (hello late diagnosed neurodivergence) with one instrument so it would be great to find someone who has the skills and patience to meet me where I’m at. Im currently passable with sight reading on piano and ukulele, picking the flute back up, most comfortable as a singer, and interested in being able to pick up any instrument with enough confidence to jam so need some support in general theory. I’m not flush with cash but happy to pay a living wage and then some for someone who can support and build my skills. Any recommendations for teachers in or around the Parker area? Thanks!

Daycare/Infant care Recommendations?

Hi everyone! I just gave birth and am looking for daycare recommendations for my daughter when she turns 6 months old. We’ve done some research and tours, but many programs seem to have mixed reviews. I would love to hear from anyone who has had great experiences with their daycare! Any insights or suggestions are much appreciated!

Help me, help you!

Free dental cleaning!

Hello! My name is Katy and I am currently in Dental Hygiene school at Concorde in Aurora. I am in desperate need for patients! Since it is my last term, patients are free! That will include x-rays, dental exam by our Dentist, a cleaning from me, oral cancer screening, and a 6 month re-eval. What you pay for really, is your time. I am starting a new term, so I have new times and a lot of availability! Appointments are 2.5 hours long, and because I am a student it might take 2 visits. Please message me if you're interested! I'd love to get you in!

Metro districts for dummies?

I'm considering a move to the Denver area and Parker is high on the list. I am looking specifically at the new construction homes south of town (Allison Ranch, Cherry Creek, Looking Glass). I'm currently in PA, so the tax system of Colorado is rather confusing. I've heard that taxes in Parker are high, but everything is relative. For comparison, we paid ~$10K for an (overvalued) $800K house. The majority was for the school district, followed by the county and then a tiny bit for the township.

Can someone explain what metro districts are? How are these taxes different from other taxes? And what are ballpark annual tax bills like? Thanks.

Moving to Colorado

My husband is being transferred back to the Denver area and we’re trying to figure out where to live. We used to live in north Colorado Springs but I would prefer to be closer to his office this time. Originally it was between castle rock and co springs but the homes in Parker also caught my eye. Can anyone give a comparison between the springs and Parker?

Propellers in the mornings

Hey guys, We just moved to Parker a few months ago and love it. Neighborhood is awesome, good location, nice people and more affordable than a lot of other Denver metros. One thing we've been noticing though is the training propeller planes flying over neighborhoods at like 5 or 6am. Today I heard one at around 4:30am. Obviously Parker is relatively close to the centennial airport, but I didn't realize planes could fly so low, so early around neighborhoods here. For all you Parker veterans, is this pretty normal or is it seasonal?

Thanks!

Resource Central: Gardens and Grass Removal

With all the new build communities popping up, just thought I’d share some neat FREE state water conservation resources I found this summer.

Resource Central came out to my house and did a sprinkler evaluation on my system - hooked up gauges to each head to judge water amount, etc and then customized and programmed my controller with a personalized water schedule. Grass looks greener and healthier afterwards.

They also have a program that pays you to remove sod and plant native water conscious plants. I did the labor and removed 300 sq ft of sod from my front yard, and they provided $1k in credit which I spent on their Garden in a Box program!! New garden in my front yard that lowers my water bill, looks great, and helps the pollinators.

All for free!!

Commuting to Downtown Denver

I have only heard great things about Parker from people who grow up there and people currently living there. My wife (29F), baby (14monthM) and I (31M) have a few questions that will help us decide if this is the right move.

  1. does anyone commute to downtown Denver? The idea of sitting on I25N forever is difficult.
  2. same question for 225 to aurora (children's hospital)
  3. how is being east of I25? Does anyone who enjoys hiking etc still feel it's accessible?

Thank you! Will take any other local tips

EDIT: Thank you for all the responses. Still conflicted but love the honesty and now I have great data to back up decision.

Allison Ranch?

I'm considering a relocation from Chester County, PA to the Denver area. Having lived in a Toll Brothers new construction house for 24 years with almost no issues, the first places I looked were there communities. And Allison Ranch is about the only one in my price range with 1-story ranch designs. Does anyone on here have thoughts about the development? I've been reading about some of the strict rules that some of the Parker HOAs have. Anything extreme there to be worried about?

As for the living in that area, anything you wish you'd known about it before you moved there? What do you love? Hate? I work remotely, so commuting isn't a concern. Due to dietary restrictions, I rarely eat out, so access to restaurants also isn't a concern. The area seems fairly convenient to supermarkets and big box stores (Target, Home Depot, etc). What about health services? Is it easy to find good PCP and dentists? Thanks!
