/r/PaperFlowers is a subreddit for crafting flowers and foliage from paper.
Not only is it a fun way to transform something as simple and rather boring as paper into something beautiful it's also something that quite a few brides are considering for their wedding as it's much less expensive than live flowers or even fake plastic flowers.
Plus these handmade works of art will not die. Which, to be honest, is one major drawback to having a fresh flowers.

The gift is for my husband, so I'm after something beautiful for a person who loves to make and give people thoughtful gifts. I figure he will love making flowers himself to gift.
I've found many, but have had difficulty finding reviews. Thank you:)
Hello, everyone! I'm planning to take up making paper flowers as a new hobby. I've been wanting to try this since August. May I ask, what are some things "people don't tell you about making paper flowers"? Specifically, the realities and challenges in the process of creating them.
Could you also share your best advice or lessons I should know before starting this hobby?
Lastly, could you recommend the essential tools or types of paper I can use as a beginner? I tend to overdo things and end up buying items meant for professionals, so I want to avoid that this time.
Thank you so much for your help!
I’ve only just started making crepe paper flowers so I didn’t want to invest too much money until I found out if I really enjoyed it or not (I do, a lot). So to start I bought quite cheap paper. However I feel like it’s a waste to not use this paper before moving on to a better quality. Its 35g so very thin and not the most flexible but I’ve still been able to make quite a few different petal shapes with it. It also does not stretch much. Anyway, I know some flowers are best made using thinner paper, if anyone could recommend me a few flowers that can be made with thinner paper, I would really appreciate it!
What is ur fav flower to create? Mine are dahlias.
A bit long, but these take some patience to make
Hi all. I'm currently working on a project creating many large curved stems that I want to look as smooth as possible. They are currently wrapped in waxed florist's tape, which I like the appearance of, but I'm concerned about long term durability and the propensity to collect dust, since it is tacky. I've already attempted covering the stems with strips of paper in various ways and have been unhappy with the resulting texture and appearance, so I'm back to the bare waxed florist's tape.
I have a few ideas for sealing it:
-Powder- probably just translucent face powder (the cosmetic for skin) as I happen to have it on hand. Pros- will make it less tacky and less likely to collect dust; Cons- may cause it to dry out and unravel; may look patchy or alter the color
-Linseed Oil- self polymerizing additive to oil paints that should solidify into a hard clear coating (may take months). I think it should be compatible since wax is also oil-based. Pros- If successful, hard durable surface should appear smooth and be durable. Cons- testing would take a long time (months to cure), may or may not even be successful, and possible fire hazard as the polymerization reaction is exothermic and the substrate is literally tinder
-Varnish- the kind used for oil paintings - since it's suitable for use on oil paintings, it might work on wax tape, which is also oil based? Pros- fast drying and not a possible fire hazard, Cons- might not stick; may chip off over time
Has anyone tried any of these or tried any other methods of sealing waxed florist's tape successfully? I'll probably do some tests but would love any other suggestions. Thanks!!!
Hi everyone!
I am doing some research for my next paper flower project. I'd like to make a Helleborus viridis but noticed the stem and back of the leaves have a fine rough/fuzzy texture to them (this picture of Helleborus odurus shows it best (wikipedia)).
It's a minor visual element but I'm curious to see if it's possible to add some textural depth to the paper piece. I'm thinking of embossing tools, but can't find any for this type of fine textures or wether it would hold.
Does anyone have any experience creating this type of fine texture on paper? or is there a paper out there that already has this texture (and can withstand painting and molding it into a leaf)?
Related, but different: any experience recreating fuzz on plants? example of fuzzy plant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulsatilla_cernua#/media/File:Pulsatilla_cernua_4.JPG
cheers!
Hey y'all, I started making crepe flowers in April after my older cat passed away and I decided I needed something to keep my mind off it. Happened to see an article about Tiffanie Turner, picked up her book and apart from a brief break to adjust my life around a new puppy, haven't looked back.
Most of the community interaction seems to be on Faccebook and I'm not really a FB fan or user so it'd be awesome if there were some more activity here... be the change time I guess!
Do you have any YouTube videos or instructions for how to make paper flowers with wire stems so they can be put in vases? I have the stiffer floral wire and have tried to make some before but they just looked messy and a bit flimsy.
I've got dies for the actual flower part-just need to know the best way to "stem" them 🌻
I made these roses to make my house beautiful. This flower is very easy to make. I have told you very simply how to make it. You can also use this flower for your home, office and even a festive occasion. You can also use this flower to give to your loved ones. They like it a lot too. Because your handmade design adds value. Then you too can make a beautiful bouquet.

Hi, I am making paper flower arrangements for my wedding soon, using both colored printer paper and crepe paper, mainly roses, wisteria, and maybe some other small buds.
Does this cool community have any advice or helpful strategies? I got a hot glue gun to use and will follow youtube videos/pinterest pins that I like.
My youngest made me a paper flower for Mother’s Day and here we are now as I am ordering coffee filters ( which my spouse is being very smug about when I got the metal one and how I need them now...) and food coloring. What are y’all’s favorite flowers to make? How meditative this looks.
Hey guys check out our new craft https://youtu.be/seCJ5MZzurk please tell us what am we are lacking. Please give us suggestions.
We bought some beautiful paper flowers off of Etsy for our daughter's nursery. Because we may be moving within the year, we are using command strips to make sure we don't damage walls when removing them. We are following the directions for the command strips, but we are having trouble pressing the flowers hard enough to stick to the velcro strips on the wall because we are afraid to mess up the flowers! Any suggestions for pressing the two strips of velcro together solidly without damaging the flowers?!
Thanks!
I've tried free hand cutting them but I'm a bit OCD and like the neatness of using dies ☺
Which would be your recommendations for decent sized realistic-ish flowers? X
Has anyone ever made Indian Paintbrush flowers? I love wildflowers and those are one of my favorites, but I can't find silk ones for sale anywhere.

I just started making paper flowers and was amazed at how these turned out. I made daffodils first so these roses are only the 2nd variety of flower but definitely feel they will continue to be my favorite. The first took well over an hour to make.
I've been making a bunch of paper flower crafts lately for fun and wanted to share with everyone my templates. I have this free small rose paper flower template and tutorial available on my blog.
