Question: How Contact

Hello! This is a question! How does one go about not talking to a cafe manager but rather a support person? Thank you for answering my question in advance. I ponder this question!

Finally did it

Finally quit after 2 years of working my ass off. Was taught on every position and was passed over for team lead multiple times. Tipping point was when I had to manage Friday bc manager was in the office with a breakdown and nobody came in to relieve her.

Pay Card - Panera Employees

To the current employees of Panera - if you choose to get paid via Pay Card from Panera, is that still considered direct deposit/W2 in documents? Thanks in advance.

Brioche breakfast sandwiches

Are they gone at all locations or just mine? As someone with no teeth that soft bread made me feel like a normal person eating a sandwich and I’m sad to a larger degree than I want to admit now that they’re gone.

how to deal with rude coworkers/associates

i have been on both manager side and associate side of things and oh my god, i have seriously thought about putting my two weeks in due to the way i am being treated by associates. i have talked to my superiors about this and they haven’t made any comments yet. i understand most people on this subreddit has shitty managers and completely understand you. i genuinely try to do my best and accommodate everyone but all i get in return is attitude and no acknowledgement🥲 i have gotten yelled at over things that has nothing to do with me and i have no idea what to do.

are there any other managers in here who can give me advice or do i need to find another job and put my two weeks in

Wait times for RPU during rush?

Not a complaint- Just trying to gauge average. I’m thinking Sunday lunch crowd. Yesterday (and frequently) I waited 30+ minutes for 2 entrees. Is this normal across many cafes or just mine?

application status

Hi! About 2 weeks ago I had an interview at panera, I’d say it went well and there were no issues. I was a little nervous but nothing awful. Anyway, the manager said I’d have to give them a few weeks to look over my application because there were currently two other people in training. I assumed that meant 3 full weeks before any checking in but I’ve been told to go in and ask about it? I don’t want to come across as rude or pushy although I know I’m not. And most of all if I ultimately didn’t get the job it will probably be awkward but I assume I would’ve gotten an email telling me that I didn’t. Any advice on how I should go about this would be appreciated 😊

What’s in the tuna??

I’ve ordered Panera about 20 times in January … Officially going to start making my tuna at home… and buying the pre made tomato soups lol. I’ve spent wayyy too much lately on the tuna sandwiches.

Ps I always do delivery so at least you know I’m not one of the crazy employees walking in so often

Recognition

To the FDF driver who saw me get promoted, dropped off our order today and said, “it’s about time you got promoted” when he saw my new name tag. I was speechless, it was so sweet of him when all I’ve tried to do was make sure the back door was open when he pulled his truck up and say hi and bye.

Thank you so much!! Sometimes I wonder if the small things matter and this was one of those days that I saw yeah, they do.

You’re such a sweet man, thank you!! Always a pleasure to see you ✨

Panera App stuck on Order Received?

I ordered delivery through the Panera app, and it’s been delivered, but the tracking status on the app is stuck on “order received.” I confirmed with the store on the phone and they said it reads order completed on their end. And the doordash link to track the driver shows the order was delivered as well. So it appears it’s just an issue on the app. Has anyone encountered something like this before?

... You're father smelt of elderberries.

I overheard some playful banter between employees in the kitchen this morning. I didn't really catch what they were saying till one came up front and yelled back, "You're a blueberry muffin!", clearly in an insulting tone.

It made me chuckle. But now I want to know, from an employee's point of view, is there something about the blueberry muffins that makes them good fodder for insult arsenal? 🤔😂

Waiting by the counter

Hi! First off, I sooo enjoyed the new chicken salad and the return of the chocolate syrup today!! So excited they are back 😊

So… I wanted to know thoughts from employees on when customers are waiting and etiquette/your feelings about it.

I was so excited for my coffee with chocolate syrup (in case you can’t tell 🤣) and thirsty that I was waiting kind of to the side of the pick up counter. I didn’t ask for it or anything. The employee asked what I needed and when I said I had a coffee with chocolate syrup, the other employee looked kinda annoyed.

Does that bother you when someone is waiting by the counter? I hope it was something else and not my presence. I have no problems waiting, but I was just so thirsty I was ready for it when it was ready.

I hope you all remember just because a customer is waiting at the counter, not all of us expect our food to magically appear in 10 seconds or we are upset/mad/expecting instant service. I imagine some customers are like this.

With that being said, is this annoying when customers wait near the counter? I didn’t have a pager either, so maybe next time I could let them know I’m not trying to rush them or be in there way.

Best selling pastry?

I’m new to the Sip club. I’ve used the $2 pastry add on offer twice. Both times, the pastries were dry and stale (brownie and chocolate croissant). What are good pastry options that sell quickly so I get fresh ones? One order was in early morning and the other after lunch. Or should I just give up?

Literally cannot login with SMS code

When I try to login I get asked for an SMS code. Previously when logging in I got the code fine, but since 2 weeks ago I don’t anymore.

I tried contacting support and they said it’ll take 10-15 business days for a response. I’ve also tried sending RESTART to their sms number since the docs said to do that, didn’t work.

Does anyone know how to login when you don’t receive codes in your messages?

How to Get Panera’s Leftover Food Before They Toss It

I’ve heard that Panera donates or throws out unsold food at the end of the day. Does anyone know the best way to get some of that before it’s wasted? Should I ask a manager, go near closing time, or check if my local store donates? If you’ve done this before, I’d love any tips!

Baker whose training period was only a week before being left alone

Hello! I have been a baker at Panera for 2 weeks now. My second week has been spent completely alone 90% of the time, doing $3,00-$4,000 bakes. It has been incredibly overwhelming being immediately thrust into so much stuff to remember and I have made a good couple mistakes unfortunately. I recently learned that not only does this establishment hire many bakers as they get burned out incredibly fast, but also that the training period before being left alone without a senior baker has been drastically shortened, and usually they’re given around a month to two months. Does it seem like I am being taken advantage of here?

Additionally, I applied to do front end work, and they asked if i’d like to do baking on the side to receive more hours, but I have only baked these two weeks.

I would love to try and compromise with the management in some way to perhaps split my time between front end and baking, but what do you guys think?

Lady stuck hand in someone else's food and ate it

So today, at 6:45 a.m., a lady came in and ordered her food to go. She came to the pick-up counter and saw a plate with a bowl of cucumber slices and a ranch on the side for another customer. This lady reached onto the plate, took a handful of cucumbers, and asked, "Can I have some of these after putting her hand in the food and munching on them as she walked away. I was so dumbfounded that I stood there in silence. Its too early for this

Does this happen to anyone else while taking orders?

Kind of a poll I guess? One of the many “oops, said one thing but it sounded like another over the intercom” moments.

I started in bakery then moved to drive thru pretty consistently, so I was very used to taking orders and dealing with customers. I ran into an interesting dilemma when a customer thought I said “apple chips” instead of apple OR chips. About three months in I started to change the wording so I would never say the word apple directly before chips when asking for someone’s side. But also, do customers really think I’m going to hand them a bag of the apple chips as a side?? Three singular apple chips would probably be no cheaper than five dollars, how the higgedy heck do they think that’ll be one of the “free” sides?

Anyway, I was in drive thru today and my coworker made the mistake and…of course the customer exclaimed, “Apple chips!” We were busy so I just hopped on and went oops sorry he didn’t mean that!! Apple, bread, or chips??

So was curious because I was reminded today - does this happen to any other store?? I noticed it happens when I’m register too but not as often as DT

Cherry Pastry tastes like vomit?

I was excited to try the cherry pastry today and took a bite and was immediately grossed out because it tasted like bile. I have had a lot of things with cherry filling before it’s never tasted like that. Does anyone else think it tastes this way? I might have just gotten a bad one.

boss appreciation (tw cw // brief mention of car accident and injury!)

I will always stand by the fact that having good or bad bosses will dictate how your job experience will go. Thankfully I've been lucky enough to have super great managers who have the "if you keep your employees happy, they'll keep your customers happy" mindset.

Today I got in a pretty serious car accident, and took the brunt of it as the passenger. (nothing requiring a hospital, just lots of rest) So I texted my managers just telling them "hey so I got in a pretty bad car crash and im not sure if I'll be able to work [shifts] with my injuries, if anyone can help me try to find coverage that'd be appreciated blah blah blah." And they were literally like. oh my gosh don't even worry about it, take as much time as you need, we'll handle it all for you.

An hour later, my mom went to pick up dinner from there, and my GM took her order. Which is nothing new, our managers thankfully help out employees where they can during rushes. But my GM COMPED IT COMPLETELY????? My other managers all came out and expressed their worries, I just felt super valued as an employee? It has its rough days like anywhere else, but I do really appreciate being cared about as a person?
