Hello! I’ve been looking for some red wire baskets for my bathroom, but haven’t had any luck finding ones pre-made, and thought I’d try and paint some existing ones red instead.
Ive got these baskets from IKEA that are already coated in white that I thought I could repaint, but knowing how notorious painting over glossy paint can be, I’m wondering what my best approach is here.
I was thinking of priming with a water-based polyurethane primer like this, then just going over with red craft acrylic after, is this a recipe for disappointment?
**Unfortunately it’s below freezing where I live right now, so spray-painting is not my first choice right now, so ideally I can do this inside with a sponge or brush!
Painting this small laundry room and want to experiment with using a single color for the walls and trim.
I'm getting hung up on the door. It's almost always open, do I paint both sides?
If I paint both sides, do I paint the doorway trim inside and outside the room all the same color?
What is the best primer that I can use in a Graco airless sprayer for covering tannin bleed through. I have several projects coming up where I know this is going to be an issue. I greatly prefer something I can buy locally. I have access to Lowes, Home Depot and Sherwin Williams. Benjamin Moore at Ace is also an option though not as convenient.
I was looking for to hire a marketing agency to adverise my painting business. Would you recommend hiring an agency? how was your experience with marketing agencies for your businesses?
We purchased the same color paint for our home. Our home is 1 year old. The touch up paint we purchased is so much darker than the original color but it’s literally the same color. Will I need to repaint the entire home now?
I am applying grey Matt paint (Dulux Easycare Kitchen stuff) to white Matt walls. White Matt beneath was left for 3 days before applying this coat so is completely dry. The grey is being applied directly to the white without sanding, etc. beforehand.
Within seconds of applying, the paint seems to become quite pasty and starts peeling away from the wall and sticking to the brush/roller. Not continuing to make more mess until I get to the bottom of the problem. Would thinning the paint with water help?
Room is not particular hot and there is no damp/moisture.
Any advice appreciated, TIA!
Anyone have experience with new water based kilz primer? Supposed to work as well as shellac. Hoping to use it to repaint smokers apt.
Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice on how to best manage my time when painting so I can improve my efficiency and pace. I have a steady hand and I think I paint well. I just sometimes struggle with time management on jobs. Does anyone have any personal tips/advice that has helped you improve in this area? Maybe how you typically break down a room or starting with specific areas? Most of my jobs are currently apartments/houses. Let me know! Thanks!
I’m painting my first home for the first time. Removing awful dark grey. I thought a classic look would be BM Mayonaisse but it is coming off so yellow! We be already painted a lot and I kinda hate it. We have one more coat to do. Would it be possible to lessen the point of yellow in it? Would it blend okay or would we have to do more coats?
I should have just went with my gut and used Simply White. This house has been such a job already, please help.
Hello I’m new here with a question.. I recently hung osb in my garage. I’m wanting to paint it white.. google says Acrylic or latex paint? Hints I can paint but I know OSB is kinda a pain just want to do it right. If I can get by without using a primer that would be great. Any tips or tricks? Thanks in advance!
Hi there! I am looking to get copies of some of the Martha Stewart Craft Pearl paints, but I am overall unsure of how to go about it?
if I take a bit to home Depot or whatever, would they be able to make a massive amount of the colors?
Specifically, I am after the mint chip, twilight blue, and aquarium, but I really do not know how to go about finding matches or anything.
Thank you so much for any help or advice!
I'm finishing my basement and almost at the prime/paint step. It's all new drywall with skip trowel texture and we're going back and forth on matte or eggshell base. All primer and paint will go on with a roller.
If we go with eggshell, is there an issue with Kilz? Label says not to use with sheen bases and I can't really tell if eggshell is considered low or medium sheen.
There are metal bullnose corner beads on the outside corners, should I get the rustolium primer for those or will the other two be good enough?
all Behr and BM paints at the stores by me are paint + primer, was planning on 2 coats of PVA primer but with the paint + primer is that needed?
1" microfiber nap for both?
Thank you!
It’s in really good shape and a really good deal, financially it makes sense so no worries there
Looks like I would have to drill through the roof to mount ladder racks, has anyone done this and how did it work out?
Inside is big enough for my needs, actually has more covered space since I currently have an F-150
Has anyone worked out of a mini van and how did you like it?
Im a new painting contractor in the LA area (California).
Currently looking to figure out some prices as I keep getting denied jobs. Am I charging to little or too much?
I currently charge $40 an hour and do high end work in all of LA. From the rich homes in Beverly Hills to San Bernardino. Is this price decent? I always do higher quality even if I don't make profit so to leave the client happy but it seems I'm not getting clients.
What would you guys charge per hour? If I wanted to work for someone I'd easily get $30 an hour so I think I'm really low but idk.
We have 3 very bright colors in this house my brother is looking at buying. Bright bright pink, bright bright blue , and a Teal. Would 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint be enough? I want to know how much to expect to have to do/spend... they're probably going to be painted either a sage green or light to medium grey.
So it's the first time I'm painting a ceiling. This is, I guess, textured or popcorn. I was going to paint straight on, but then decided I should clean it first, so I used sugar soap 1:5 parts water, a roller on a stick and a lot of elbow grease to get it into those dimples.
Next day I was in a lot of pain. I was reading on the sugar soap instructions that I should wipe afterwards with water. I am really not looking forward to feeling that again just to clean it some more.
So I was wondering, can I skip the rinse and go straight to the painting or does the sugar soap contain something that will affect the paint adhering to the ceiling.
Thanks.
Me and my friend are planning on painting over this old mural in our school (with school permission ofc). The mural seems to have been done with some sort of graffiti spray paint directly on top of the brick wall. Would we be able to use regular interior/exterior house paint and paint right on top of it? Or should we prime it first, and if so what kind? If we were to extend the mural directly onto the brick would it need primer? Thank you!
I blacked out the name of my school btw.
I'm trying to spray some interior doors I'm using white latex door and trim paint. How do I get it to spray smooth. It's giving me a lot of spatter and I can't get a nice smooth coat
Its just the first coat, and it's going on top of a yellow-ish color, and I'm definitely no expert in painting, so I feel like it must be me. But, I've painted my apartment walls many times and I've never had it come out so thin and streaky like this before.
Looking for a good online store that sells caulking and other related supplies.
Just finished an interior job where the homeowner got majorly upset that I removed about a dozen nails and filled the holes. She states the nails were marking where her set went back up. Boss didn’t say anything f s out it and when it came up he said “that’s captain obvious stuff”. Over 7 years painting and I have never ever had this come up. The nails or screw or hook sticking out creates a drip spot and a line in your roller in my experience. For certain will be checking going forward, but curious what has your experience been with regard to nails left in the wall?
Ideally, I’d get this cleaned up and repainted with the same color of paint, same sheen, etc. Understand that I need to caulk the gap first. Any caulk recommendations? How do I get a paint that will match the rest of the trim? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
I sprayed some interior doors and had a couple paint runs and wiped them off want to say easiest way to fix this and make them look good
