Paint for metal roof?

Hello All!! I ordered 2 carport kits from Amazon and it turns out they painted the wrong side of the roofing panel. So I’m trying to repaint panels now. I originally just used “ rustoleum, rusty metal primer” and “High Performance Protective Enamel Gloss Black Oil-Based Interior/Exterior Paint”. I thought this would offer the most protection. However, it was not shooting out of my my airless sprayer correctly and I contacted Greco and they said that I couldn’t use this kind of paint because it’s flammable. So does anyone know what kind of paint would be best? I’m thinking about just using the Valspar water-based DTM paint. I don’t know if it’s gonna offer as much protection though.

BM paint harmonization

I painted my trim BM Chantilly Lace with BM Advance in satin about 4 years ago. I recently had my doors painted BM Chantilly Lace with Regal Select semigloss.

Two issues... The color of the Advance is noticeably warmer (more yellow) than the doors. I do not like that it yellowed. The other issue is the mismatched sheen.

I am afraid of redoing all the trim work as it was so much work... I guess I'd prefer to repaint doors. But I want it to look good and not crazy about using Advance again because of the yellowing.

How would you correct this situation so the end result looks GOOD? What should I repaint, in what paint and what sheen?

Best way to handle this.

Some areas in this room are peeling paint, which I took my scraper and shop vac to. The area started much smaller, but I kept going until no more seems to be easily coming off. My concern is the blue underneath is very smooth whereas the top seems to be like an eggshell. What is the best way to prepare these walls for their next coat of paint. The two options in my head are to essentially take all of the white off exposing the blue and sanding, or continue to take off all chipping paint and go that route.

What paint to use to re-paint wooden porch columns?

A family friend wants me to re-paint her front porch columns with the same color. They're still in good condition with only a few places where the paint is peeling off. I'm thinking of giving it all a light sanding and then a fresh coat of paint, but I'm unsure what exterior paint to use. Any suggestions?

Painted my cabinets, small little lines bleeding through

My cabinets, which were a honey oak type, have these little lines bleeding through after finishing them up and multiple coats. I’m okay with them right now, but might try to remediate in a couple months. Any recommendations on how to remediate or is this just a fact of painting oak cabinets?

Graco Magnum X5 Vs Wagner 250M

Hey All -

I want to buy an airless paint sprayer - I’m a builder that does 2 renovations every year and need to repaint 3 bedroom houses (internally).

I understand when not using often you need to store with pump armour or similar.

Tossing up between the Wagner 250M and Magnum x5 - I can get the Magnum X5 for 770AUD and the Wagner 250M for 800AUD.

Read reviews on both and the magnum is double the PSI of the Wagner but the Wagner seems to be a brushless efficient motor vs a brushed in the Graco.

Seems like the Wagner is a little easier to spray with and the Gun is a little better on the Wagner as it swivels and is a two finger gun vs the Graco.

Also the Graco made in the States, assuming the Wagner is designed in Germany - built in china.

Also - the Graco has a 1yr warranty where the Wagner has a 4yr warranty.

What would you choose and any experiences with these?

What's the biggest, baddest angle brush I can get?

Until recently I've been cutting with a regular 2" stubby. Super nimble but unfortunately they don't hold a huge amount of paint.

A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to a 2.5" oval Arroworthy and I can probably get 2-3x further before having to dip my brush again.

For context, I mainly do small patchwork type stuff. I work full time in a hotel so I'm mainly repainting one or two walls rather than an entire room/multiple. Based on how the time works out it's usually quicker for me to dip into a roller tray or can than it is to use a dedicated paint kettle, so having more paint in my brush is a huge bonus.

So, what would you recommend in this situation? I've been looking at the Purdy XL high capacity stuff but as I'm in the UK it's pretty expensive. I'm also wondering whether there is such a thing as overkill - I don't want to feel like I'm painting with a broom.

I have a painted chipping wood coffee table i wanna sand, prime, paint, and finish. What do I use?

I really wanna be able to make it quick and easy and hopefully be able to find everything at Walmart, i know oil based paint can yellow over time. Can I like sand it, use Kilz original primer, an acrylic paint, then like a lacquer clear gloss finish? Or whats the better recommendation?

In the US, what paint brand is most preferred?

I've had a couple painters in for a remodel we're doing. I notice almost all of them prefer Sherwinn Williams. A select few chose Benjamin Moore.

Question is, why is SW so popular over Behr or others?

Urethane and Latex Color Match

Looking for some help with painting our bedroom.

We wanted to paint the walls, trim and doors the same color. To make the trim and doors a bit more durable we opted for a urethane paint in Satin in the same color as the walls which were done in Flat. Now that we've painted, however, the trim and walls are a noticeably different color and doesn't look great. The walls are a good match to the color chip but the trim is not.

Is there any way to get the urethane trim paint closer in color? Would we be better getting a Gallon of the Latex paint in Satin/Semi-Gloss and using that instead?

This is using Sherwin's HGTV line from Lowe's (probably not the best choice we now realize).

Does anyone make their own house paint? Where can I get started?

I’m struggling to find paints that have any pigment in them so I’ve decided to start making my own. I need to paint a lot of items and importing paints from Europe will break by bank.

Any tips?

Why do American paints skimp out on pigments?

I’ve been color searching for the right color—for weeks—to no avail. The colors I want are always available but totally dull. What’s funny is that American brands have millions of colors available but all the colors are just flat.

I started looking into European brands and I’ve found all the colors I’ve been looking for and in the right pigments. Just wondering why the same can’t be said of the US ex: fine paints of Europe, farrow and ball

I have a question

When I first moved into my house, I put up LED light strips on the walls and I’m redecorating my room and I took them off and the paint chipped. Do I need to do anything before painting over this?

New house, painted, poorly. Best way to fix.

Our house is 3 years, I’m an electrician, family owns a construction business so we built and finished most of the house.

When it came to painting, my father in law stepped in and while we needed the help to get the house done in time… it was painted poorly. All the trim is streaky and there’s about 1,800sqft of wood shiplap/panel throughout the house that is bad.

What’s the best way to fixing this? My initial thought was to drop some cash on the best palm sander with legit suction and vacuum system that I can to minimize the dust then sand it down and have it sprayed properly.

1200sqf of this shiplap is in a vaulted ceiling. When the sun comes in, every blemish stands out and it’s a lot. This summer I’m making and putting up faux beams. So I’ll need to remove all the furniture and out of scaffolding, I figure this is the best time to repaint as well.

Any tips? Best practices?

All the trim and wood was painted with SW emerald urethane enamel paint.

Thanks

Can I prime the walls now?

Hi all,

I have tried cleaning this off as much as I could. I was wondering can I add primer to it or no? We had to rip down wallpaper which had mold under it so we did it, but in regards to the wall I have tried everything to get the bits of glue off but it’s not. Any idea if priming is a good idea?
