The unofficial sports subreddit for the Pro Volleyball Federation đ PVF

Iâm trying to get a finger on the pulse for the Emberâs Nest Pod (available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts).
Iâm trying to see what these teams are doing in year 2 (or year 1 if youâre Indy!) to get people in the door.
What ticket specials did your favorite team offer? Did your season ticket renewal go up or down? Single game tickets increasing or decreasing? Sound off!
Grand Rapids has the âseasonâs greetingsâ pack: $95 for a beanie, 2 tickets to the home opener, and 4 undated flex vouchers (basically, pick any other 4 games).
We are 7 days out from the Season Opener. So, if things are as they were last year, Orlando and San Diego have to have their final first week rosters in to the office today.
Here's hoping they announce opening day rosters for those two teams this afternoon or early tomorrow.
I saw this trailer about a week ago, and I'm posting it here in remembrance of the year that was.
This past year we saw the birth of, not only the PVF, but the PWHL. And, we saw the first female D1 coach to lead her team to a championship... while fightin for her life. And that's only a small portion of what women and womens' sports has accomplished this year.
This trailer made me realize how long the fight has been.
And, as one of my other interests is the fascinating entertainment oddity that is professional wrestling, it also reminded me how much a "fake" sport is more historicaly important to this country than many will know or admit.
This is a CBS Sports podcast. You know, one of PVF's broadcast partners?
They supposedly about women's sports, but about 90% is basketball, 5% is tennis... I think they've mentioned PVF once in the last year.
Volleyball is not mentioned once in this video and the PVF LAUNCHED this year!
I don't want anyone to be mean or disrespectful, but please let these ladies know we as an audience are here and we need more volleyball analysis in the "talking head" sports world!
The link to join fantasy volleyball, set up by me, is in the discord under the more volleyball section. We donât need another person, but we sure would love one to join. We have a spot for one more, so check it out.
Aimed at your favorite player
1: Have any teams announced local broadcasts for this season? What has amazed me is that Grand Rapids and Omaha were able to get all their games on the radio (though Omaha came as no surprise given that Nebraska is a volleyball state)
2: Is there a PVF Discord?
3: What are the chances a PVF team could pop up in Boston anytime soon? Being from the New England area... I would love to have a PVF team to support (for now, I'll remain a neutral fan)
Streaming services are: www.youtube.com/@realprovb And for FS1, FS2, and CBSSN (legally,) you'll need something like one of these
The matches on cable service will probably start later in the season, so I would wait to start a subscription. If you already have Disney+ or are going to follow LOVB also, then I suggest just getting the Disney Bundle that includes ESPN+
Hi everyone, I've created a google sheet that should have all players who are currently on PVF rosters. Please let me know if you think there are any errors or omission.

A few notes --
I've tried to place them in a mostly non prejudicial order (PVF experience, free agents and rookies).
The "R" designation means that they are a rookie (i.e. they played in the NCAA in 2024). The number afterwards indicates their draft order. "RU" indicates that they were undrafted. Last year teams were allowed to keep two rookies on their team (who were not eligible to play in matches). I'm assuming that's the same this year.
I've also indicated country of birth if it is not the United States. Last year, teams were only allowed two foreign players on their roster. Again, I am assuming this is the case this year as well.
I believe PVF rosters need to be pared down to 14 on the full roster, plus 2 match-ineligible rookies. 14 players usually means 4 outsides, 4 middles, 2 opposites, 2 setters and 2 liberos.
You are welcome to copy the sheet if you would like to make your own predictions or notes.
I am curious to know, is whether or not people that have already established themselves as fans of one league will give the other a fair shot once both are going head-to-head in the upcoming 2025 season.
Many have their reasons for siding with one league over the other, but at the same time many players people have followed through college, international competitions and overseas leagues are going to be part of the rival league (guess the same could apply to coaches). That could leave some of us a little conflicted.
Speaking for myself, I became aware of LOVB's effort to start a pro league first. With some of my favorite players already being attached to it, I was ready to pull my full support for LOVB. Then I became aware of the PVF and started looking into it. PVF appeared to be forming a (for lack of a better word) proper American pro sports league. I'm still not quite sure what LOVB's business model is. PVF's team branding easily won me over, while LOVB's team branding left everything to be desired. Ultimately PVF won me over.
With that said, I do plan to watch LOVB matches when I can. I hope the players in LOVB are successful. I realize both leagues cannot coexist long term, but I hope for both PVF and LOVB to grow for as long they can.
So, what about the rest of you?
Who do you think is coming in second to the Valks this year??
Weâd take a pick but we arenât concerned about who finishes behind us.
Most of you have likely seen the confusing post that initially seemed to claim that PVF contracts would be guaranteed for the upcoming season. Amy Pauly, who posted the news, later walked back that claim and said that not all contracts will be guaranteed. This whole fiasco has made me think about the potential for a player's association for the league.
Despite being marketed as a player-first league, PVF does have some unsavory practices that I don't really like, such as mid-season cuts. These cutthroat transactions seem to have few consequences for the teams, which takes away from the strategy of teambuilding and leaves players in a very unstable position.
In other leagues, player's associations use collective bargaining agreements to ensure that players are being treated fairly. While it is only the second season of league, I think it might be time for players to begin to seriously consider this option. Obviously, as fans, we aren't really involved in the relationship between the teams and players, but I think we all want to see our players treated with respect.
There's definitely overseas opportunities for many PVF players and the team owners have invested lots of money into these franchises so I think the players do have some leverage when it comes to negotiating.
What do you guys think though? Do you have other suggestions for how to get the league to improve some of the worse rules?
There doesn't seem to be a central website to keep track of the 2025 draft signings. The best guess is to check the volleystation website, where the PVF keeps their official match statistics. It seems like signed players are showing up there.
https://pvf.volleystation.com/en/players/
Checking on draftees, it looks like with less than 2 weeks before the season begins, it appears as if 25 of 40 draftees are in the system currently. Many of the big names, such as those who played in the NCAA final four, have not appeared yet (though there are exceptions such as Valerie Vazquez-Gomez (Pitt) and Lindsay Krause (Nebraska). Also, it seems as if no foreign players have officially signed as of yet.
This chart shows who is in the volleystation system (shown as "Recorded"). It is likely these players are signed. It's not clear what the current status is of the remaining players is at this point.
As of yet, all of the unsigned do not appear to have signed elsewhere, with one exception, Jess Mruzik. Each LOVB team has signed one graduating player, and these are mostly names you would expect: Lexi Rodriguez (Nebraska)- LOVB Omaha, Madisen Skinner (Texas) - LOVB Austin, Sarah Franklin (Wisconsin) - LOVB Madison. Additionally Jess Mruzik signed with Houston, Onye Ofoegbu (Oregon) with Atlanta and Sophie Fischer (Georgia) with Salt Lake City.
Hello everyone! Please pardon if this type of post isn't allowed on here.
So I discovered the PVF a few days ago and have already selected my team: Go Vibe! I have a basic understanding of the rules of volleyball, mainly stemming from the NCAA game. Having found this community, I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could answer for me to help get acquainted with the league. Thank you in advance!
I was thinking about owning a volleyball team someday, but, I want to known that how much to own a volleyball team.
If your still on TwiXtter, check out Amy Pauly's latest post.
Whoâs the best team in the league and why is it the Valkyries???

The R2 is moving to the table to do video review, net contacts will be caught by video. There's no plan to add a VNL 'admit touch bonus'.
LOVB had to pay ESPN to carry their matches, CBS is giving PVF a portion of the ad revenue.
Profitability target is for the middle of year 3.
Schedule is so much better because arenas are picking PVF over G-league and PVF was able to get better dates, which will hopefully lead to better ticket sales.
Everybody got to be a free agent after year 1 so that Dallas and Indy would be able to pick up players.
She seemed a little irked by the online accusations that they missed great players in the draft. Some still have spring on campus classes they need to attend, some told them they intend to go to LOVB/overseas.
Draft rights are for 2 years, so they're hoping to get some of them back from overseas/LOVB next year.
They didn't have a formal 'declare for the draft' procedure because if a player isn't drafted, they need to do a ton of paperwork to regain their amateurism with NCAA
To unnamed coaches who were unhappy with the draft date "give me a better date" since she's landlocked on the season dates. Her coaches calling is no different from LOVB or European coaches and agents calling.
CEO gets several ownership interest feelers every week. The price tag is a couple million with some strings attached (liquid value, asset value). Expansion is a matter of when not if.
She seemed pretty irked that their season is landlocked. They don't want to start before NCAA is done, they have to have time for those players to come into training camp and ramp up, so they can't start before January. They also can't go deep into May because they risk losing all their national team players and she doesn't want a championship without those stars.
There's a medical manual that is new this year, that details how the clubs have to handle injuries. I didn't have the courage to ask if that was a reaction to the Danielle Hart situation. I also didn't have the lack of manners to ask why they didn't have that in place day 1. But it seemed like she'd seen some feedback and wanted to do better there.
She seemed really irked that LOVB is taking money from club parents, just as a general principle.
She decided to put the draft together 3 weeks before it was due and her staff was ... super happy. /s
Looks like she's now at least with the rest of her team at the bench. Hopefully it is not a serious injury.
In an Ember's Nest first, here I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Marin Grote who is entering her second season as Middle Blocker for the Rise. Marin had a strong season last year as she was #3 in the PVF in blocks, but it's clear in my time with Marin that the focus is squarely on next season.
It was a joy to chat with Marin about the new squad, how she feels about playing against her sister in the PVF, and Sarah J Maas of all things! I hope you the listener enjoy listening to the pod as much as I enjoyed making it. As always, leave your feedback on Reddit, Spotify, or write the show at embersnest@gmail.com.
