I have an advisor appointment soon for one of my top choices and I have no idea what to ask them. Ik I have so many questions, but I don’t want to ask anything stupid. Help!
Hi! I just got an acceptance to UConn, which I'm very excited about because it's my first acceptance! However, I am an out-of-state student so the tuition is much higher than I would pay for an in-state school. I've had 2 interviews in my home state, but I haven't heard from one and was waitlisted at the other. I have 3 more interviews coming up for in-state programs in the next month. I have two weeks to make a decision and put down a deposit for UConn's program. It's a high deposit of $1000. Would anyone happen to have any advice for me? I'm struggling with having such a short time to make such a big decision. Thank you so much!
Hi all, I recently submitted my applications for PT school and am now waiting to hear back from them. Yay! Anyway, I’m stressing out and need a little reassurance that I’ll be ok.
I hand wrote all of my essays—pen and paper, thesaurus and dictionary and then typed the final draft directly into the application website. I didn’t have access to a computer 24/7 (saving up for one) so the library was my best friend to set up my application and write down the prompts. Anyway I wrote them, edited them, then typed them up directly into the application site and submitted them. I recently saw a post on here about someone stating their own essay came back as AI generated when they checked though it was 100% self written.
Curious as I am, the last time I went to the library, I checked my own. All of them. Every single one came back as 100% AI. How is this possible. So now I am freaking out that my chance at getting in is shot.
Anyone have any similar experience? Am I going to be okay? How is this possible?
What do I do?
Hello, I wanted to see if any professional in Kinesiology could help me out! I have to interview someone who specializes in the field of Kinesiology for my assignment. I have a few questions to ask and would just need a name and place of occupation if you’re comfortable ^ ^ Thank you so much for your time!!
Starting this thread for anyone else that was accepted into USF DPT! Just got mine in an email today and accepted shortly after. Feel free to post questions or anything else!
Just a heads up University of Pittsburgh has started sending out decisions. Heard from them earlier this week
Hi all. I am a former prospective PT student. At 30, I decided to attempt college again to delve deeper into my understanding of the body and how it heals. Becoming a PT just seemed like a reasonable step. Unfortunately, I discovered I still vehemently despise our educational institutions for multiple reasons and refuse to attend college for years on end until I finally get to the point of learning the material I seek. So I've decided to abandon the idea of becoming a PT, but I still want the ability to assess, understand, and rehabilitate for personal use as I age, and I was wondering what textbooks you would recommend for things such as manual therapy and therapeutic exercises. I already work out of the Book of Body Maintenance and Repair, but I would like other options. Thanks for the read!
I am a junior year student (Bachelors in Kinesiology) and am looking to start building my stats for pt school. I currently have a 3.9 GPA (have not taken physics yet), hoping to maintain it for the remainder of my bachelors.
I have 200 hours in a PT/AT setting, 100 in general nursing, minor surgeries and dermatology combined. I am hoping to get employed in a pt setting sometime in the next 6 months.
I am also hoping to do a semester or 2 abroad (currently in California).
Other than maintaining my GPA, getting in more shadowing/interning hours, and hopefully getting more professional experiences, what can I do to make my application strong?
I do know that the interview as essentially what decide whether or not I get in and that is when I really have to make a mark and have them think "Yes, She is the one we want in our program." I do have some personal experiences in my education that might give me a shot and have them think "oh so she knows how to work hard and what to learn from her experiences" but i feel like that is not enough.
Can I get some guidance on what I should be talking about in my interviews?
I was wondering what sort of questions students who are currently in PT school (or those doing interviews) asked or had wished they’d asked in the interview process
I just got an interview for UTSW Dallas DPT program. Has anyone ever gone through their interview process, or does anyone know of someone who has? I know that they take 3-4 applicants and pair them with 1-2 professors. Does anyone have any insight or advice beyond that?
Hello everybody! I was offered a zoom interview with MCPHS Worcester and I have it this Wednesday at 10 AM. Looking for any advice on preparation and what sort of questions I should have prepared. I’m starting to get my game plan laid out so that I am prepared! Thank you in advance
Hey everybody. So a few weeks ago I heard back from my top choice that I had gotten into their program, no interview or anything. Since then I've started hearing back from the other programs that I've applied to about interview dates. There's no point in me going to these interviews right? And should I respond to their emails and say something along the lines of "Thank you for your consideration... I've already accepted an offer from another program..."
If a school says its deadline is November 1st can I submit it on the first or does it have to be submitted on October 31st?
Hello! I have my interview for Tennessee state’s DPT program tomorrow and I’m wondering if anyone has advice or has gone through this and remembers the questions they have been asked. Thanks!
Anyone else tired of reviving rejections? I'm starting to feel like I'll never get a chance to prove myself 😭
Does anyone know when UNT or UTSW will email about interviews? I have seen some people have heard from UNT earlier in September. If not, do you know when any rejection emails will be sent? I’m just wanting to know when to expect emails by. Thank you!!
Anyone hear back from usf yet? I applied for the priority deadline and was hoping to get some update soon! 🤞
Anyone hear back from UCF? First interviews start November 15 so wondering if anyone had been notified.
Hi! I have just recently submitted my first set of applications for DPT school. After reading a lot of these threads I'm extremely concerned about my GRE score. I have a 310 and a 4.0 in writing. The writing and the verbal are in the 59th percentile, but my quantitative is only 42% so I do not know if that will completely eliminate me from most programs. My overall gpa is a 3.9 and around a 3.7 in pre reqs. I have about 140 observation hours, which is also a low point of my application.
The schools are applying to are: MUSC, Charleston Southern, Mercer, Belmont and Baylor once it opens. Baylor is my last resort though, because I would prefer not to do a hybrid program.
Has anyone applied to any of the above schools and heard back with similar stats or do you think I will be completely eliminated because of my GRE? I could definitely get my GRE higher but it'll take me into the next application cycle. I only took it once and only looked at a study book a couple of days before, but that is what I'm super concerned about.
Thank you!
As title implies- I am worried about not getting into a DPT program. Just graduated from FSU this past spring- Public health major that took all PT prereqs- and I am in my gap year currently working as a rehab technician. My stats were 3.4 cumulative, pre-req 3.0-3.3 depending on the program, 161/161/4.5 GRE, 400 hours clinical observation all outpatient as a volunteer and as a rehab tech. solid letters of rec and decent extra curricular experience as far as strength & conditioning internship + elementary school student mentor volunteer + volunteer at outpatient PT clinic. As I mentioned currently gaining some clinical experience through my job as a rehab technician which also made up most of my clinical hours.
I applied to UM, UCF, USAHS Miami, Pitt, Delaware. Also applying to Florida Southern, Tufts Boston, and both Nova FL campuses in the coming week as they have later deadlines. I received notification from Delaware that my application is being placed "on hold" and it will be reviewed again later. Not sure if that means anything at all but thought I'd mention because I essentially took it as a rejection and it has me worried about lack of notification from the other programs I have already applied to and my chances of getting in in general. Thoughts on my stats/chances? and if anyone has already gotten into any of the programs I have applied to/am planning to apply to I would very much appreciate being able to hear your stats and experience with the interview(if applicable) and acceptance timeline. Thank you.
For context I’m a junior in undergrad and don’t really know anyone who has taken the updated version of the GRE. I was wondering if anybody had tips when studying for it? I’ve heard Manhattan Prep was pretty good but any tips would be greatly appreciated!
What are your thoughts? Now that the exam is over, I feel defeated, as if I didn’t study at all. There were questions that I believe were beyond what I expected to be included. It was so hard—harder than any PEATS and practice exams! Still praying WE ALL PASSED!!!
So I was just finishing up a draft of my essay (yeah I know it's cutting pretty close to the deadline) and I ran it through an AI detector out of curiosity. To my surprise, the essay was given a 24% AI GPT saying Chat GPT was likely used to write parts of the essay. I wrote the entirety of this on my own, totally off the noggin, so this is pretty concerning to me.
Do PT School admissions run these through an AI detector? If so, do you think the 24% is cause for concern? I might be tweaking. Thanks!
Accepted to:
Creighton AT Still UofA Wash U USC
I’m trying to decide. What would you do? Thanks for all feedback and input.
Got accepted into Plymouth State in NH! Anyone else?? Any current or former students able to share any experiences?
Has any SPT did really poorly on a skills check and failed? If so, what happened and were you able to recover grade wise. Really nervous for failing
I applied to Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island mid September and just received their provisional acceptance this afternoon. I'm stoked about this since I'm somewhat of a non traditional applicant and they were my top choice.
Good luck to everyone and hope y'all get in to everywhere you applied!
Please AMA if you need help applying or planning your statements.
Does anybody have any insight into this small PT school? I am intrigued, but don’t hear a lot about it anywhere. Thanks!
I am in a bit of a dilemma. I have a 3.9 gpa prerequisite gpa won’t fall below a 3.5. I am currently a student at Georgia College which is not the most rigorous school. I have an opportunity to transfer to the University of Georgia which has a great program for pre pt students. If I stay here I can maximize leadership positions throughout the school and have a better chance at maintaining a really good gpa. On the other hand I could transfer and be in the more rigorous program with less leadership positions. Does anybody have any advice on what would be my best bet for applications? I am also not worried about hours and test scores cause those will come along the way. Just purely from status of what I said.
