Weekly Game Questions and Help Thread
Greetings all new, returning, and existing ARKS defenders!
The "Weekly Game Questions and Help Thread" thread is posted every Wednesday on this subreddit for all your PSO2:NGS-related questions, technical support needs and general help requests. This is the place to ask any question, no matter how simple, obscure or repeatedly asked.
The official website has an overview for new players as well as a game guide. Make sure to use this obscure drop-down menu if you're on mobile to access more pages.
If you like watching a video, SEGA recently released a new trailer for the game that gives a good overview. It can be found here.
SEGA run an official Discord server for the Global version of PSO2. You can join it at https://discord.gg/pso2ngs
The Phantasy Star Fleet Discord server has a channel dedicated to guides for NGS, including a beginner guide and class guides! Check out the #en-ngs-guides-n-info
channel for those.
In addition, Leziony has put together a Progression Guide for Novices. Whether you're new to the game or need a refresher, this guide may help you!Note: this uses terminology from the JP fan translation by Arks-Layer, so some terms may not match up with their Global equivilents.
The Arks-Visiphone is a wiki maintained by Arks-Layer and several contributors. You can find the Global version here. There you can find details on equipment, quests, enemies and more!
If you are struggling to get assistance here, or if you are needing help from community developers (for translation plugins, the Tweaker, Telepipe Proxy) in a live* manner, join the Phantasy Star Fleet Discord server. *(Please read and follow the server rules. Live does not mean instant.)
Please start your question with "Global:" or "JP:" to better differentiate what region you are seeking help for.

!(It Has To Be This Way starts blaring loudly in the distance)
I am curious just how the rest of the community has faired with this infuriating title.l, ihave managed to complete all 500 of it but I wonder how far has everyone else gotten.
To those using ranger sub to gain the damage buff for not hitting the blight round but one being applied to a different fragment, please take off stealth strike!
Reducing your aggro leaves a chance that actual ranger players are gaining aggro, this is removing Long Range Advantage from my, and every other Ranger gaining aggro because everyone is Ranger subclass with reduced aggro gain.
Long range Advantage is 15% bonus potency on PAs which is a lot for a ranger, so be considerate and take the point off stealth strike.
You still get the blight round buff for it being applied and you're not actually targeting the blighted limb, and we keep our damage bonus. It's a win win.
Sorry, and thank you gamers.
I get it, y'all want to optimize every single millisecond of your grind, but at least make sure the quest is actually complete before you dip? Just had a guy leave Leciel like, two or three seconds before we got quest completion because while the boss was dead, the adds needed to die too for a clear and dude totally missed that fact. I can't imagine doing the entire Leciel run amd getting literally nothing out of it.
So give it literally just a few seconds to make sure you're not screwing yourselves over, yeah? Once you see that clear pop-up you're safe.
anybody know any good trench coat/long coat type outerwear or outfits in phantasy star ship 1 (feoh) either in the personal shop or something else i just need to complete my reaper/wesker type look
I recently came back to the game after a 3 1/2 month long hiatus, and I've seen the new LC Camos. But when I try to look up the drop rates, I get nothing. I know it's probably astronomically low, but I'd still like to know it.
People who leave dark falz dalion are disrespecting other players. It's also something I see very common with streamers, including official NGS content creators. It's very poor etiquette, please make premades if you're going to leave because you aren't nice enough to stay around. I also have several clears myself and stay in terrible runs to let people learn.
So I grew up playing PSO on GameCube. I tried pso2 when it dropped for Xbox, and while I was happy, it just seemed like... Too much? The story never made sense, I never really had any challenge, and I just felt like everything I did kinda went nowhere. Then I get into NGS and I'm getting the same feeling.
Am I missing something? What even is the damn story at this point? I just need someone to tell me what I'm screwing up so I can enjoy the game more and maybe get back into it.
Clarification: I wasn't saying I expected the same thing from pso2 or NGS that I did from PSO on GameCube, sorry if it came off that way. Just setting up how I came to play pso2. Hell, the first 4 PSO games are WAY different than online, and let's just ignore ep3 lol. Also, ps portable wasn't too bad (long winded, but not terrible)
My main thing is just felt lost in the game. Like I was just running around and not achieving much. I suppose I can give the base game a try again, but idk about NGS. It doesn't seem to be my deal right now.
I had read that the potency floor has no effect on Rod or Talis because they are mostly magic and I base my entire build on pure Tech power, now I read that for Dalion it is necessary to raise the potency floor, which I do then I raise the potency floor in exchange for may i lower my tech power?
Not sure why anyone was selling three Lux at 6k each but I snapped that up. Sold two, kept the last so now I have four I'm thinking of either using or selling.
was staring at this view and went "this is a good view....I wonder if I can meme it"
You know, for a group of people that are pretty technologically advanced, they seem to be just out of the stone age. You can stand in one spot and see all areas, practically throw a stone to another, but the crew is shocked when they go to Retem, Kvaris, or Stia like it's the other side of the universe.
What's that big floaty thing above us? How bout giving the Wright Brothers a call and start working on an airplane seeing you have freaking laser guns already.
I love the sci-fi aspect, but the denizens of Halphia seem like a bunch of dumd [redacted]. Maybe it would be better if the Starless wiped them out due to basic stupidity.
For those like me who like keeping things thematic in your CS, and in the absence of any ship BPs from Sega, I've had a very hard time finding really good thematic ship designs for my CS on Ship #3. There are certainly some very good ones out there created by some very talented players, but nearly all of them are either from other IPs (e.g. Halo, Star Wars, etc.) or they simply aren't sci-fi.
With some inspiration from an Alliance member design, I decided to create my own to scale version of an ARKS fighter/interceptor. There's a lot of attention to detail in the design. I've been getting a lot of personal messages about it both in game and via XBox, so thought it might be worth posting about it here for wider community awareness. The design does not incorporate lights or other animated BPs that more heavily impact CS build capacity limits, but it does extensively use BPs from the mining rig pack.
I'm not posting a pic here intentionally so that you'll need to visit the CS to see it, but I promise you it's worth the trip. The design is of course shared, and the CS name is HALCYON. I hope you enjoy it.
(P.S. Unless you are in my Alliance, please don't ask me to change the color scheme for you. I will have a different color scheme available whenever Sega releases the Stia theme and I build out that CS.)
Fight is pretty fun. Takes a while to get down.
Fully-built basic gear (Xover and Einea with LC/Triyal) is capable of clearing it. Won't be easy, but it can be done.
Aim for at least 7k DPS throughout the entire fight. 8k is ideal.
There are three phases: fragments, cannons, and mini-Sodam. Fragments are counter city. Cannon has no countering. Positioning is important.
Phase One - Splitting up the gang
Each zone needs at least one player in it, otherwise the fragment will start to snipe distant players. These snipes are from the player's blindspot, so they have no time to react. They also hurt.
As long as any fragment has Blight, you'll deal 15% more damage to fragments without Blight.
Phase Two - Cannons
You can move and jump freely. Letting go, getting hit, or dodging will reset the ramp up. Enemy attacks can be evaded by moving or jumping.
You can melee during downs, after dash attacks, and that center enemy when it appears.
The orange cap must be damaged for the weak point to be visible. Once the location is known, the entire team should focus on it.
Phase Three - Mini-Sodam
I think the first part is ok, but I hate the cannon phase. I've barely seen the third phase since all of my friends quit or don't gear and pugging is currently impossible to clear in. Imo this is the weakest falz fight yet.
What does everyone else think?
