Hey everyone,
I have a windows box with a bad nvme m.2 drive. I have some background in troubleshooting through my degree and job, but I have never done any hardware upgrades/repairs. The laptop is a couple years old and I got it from my fiancee when it broke and she upgraded to a mac. Any recommendations or tips for installing a new m.2 drive.
Hi there - I am trying to add some ram to an old iMac for a friend.
Mac "Core i3" 3.06 21.5" (Mid-2010) 3.06 GHz Core i3 (I3-540)
Order MC508LL/A Model A1311 (EMC 2389)
It has 4GB (2 x 2GB 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 1.5v sticks)
I added 2 x 4GB 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 1.35v sticks to the two open slots...
This is where it gets fun - It boots into Mac os. I don't have the password as my buddy isn't here.
I boot into Ubuntu on my but external ssd. Works fine with the original 4gb. But now - it boots to a blank tan screen and just seems to sit there. I am not much of a Mac guy - so I don't know the key combos or anything to see what it is waiting for.
So - do I need to get into Bios someway to have it acknowledge the added ram?
Is the Ram I added too new for the mobo?
Are there any key combos that I can use to see more info?
Any Mac tinkerers out there?
Thanks in advance,
Last week I updated the drivers on my computer using a trusted software I've used for over a year (IObit Driver Booster). Things were running smoothly until all of my USB ports except two became inoperable.
All of my attempts of fixing this issue consisted of:
-Rolling back drivers (was not able to)
-Uninstalling and Reinstalling drivers/devices on Device Manager
-Making sure my Processor's and Graphics Card's software is updated properly
-Making sure my computer's Windows software is updated properly
-Cleaning out the ports
-Making sure my machine doesn't have permission to turn off power of the devices/ports
-and finally attempting to use pnputil on Command Prompt to enable/disable devices
I would really appreciate some help here! It honestly seems like it's time to upgrade my computer after a long 5+ years.

I've had this PC for 5 years, never really had any issues with it. Recently i disconnected it from the power outlet because we were doing some repairs at home, when i plugged it back, it didn't turn back on, when i checked, some of the lights of the motherboard light up but LED doesn't. I'm not really sure what the issue might be tough.
Hi. I used MsConfig to boot in safe mode. When my pc started, there is a black screen after the bios window. I tried to restart multiples time and nothing. I also tried a recovery tool on a USB and there is a spinning circle after the bios, but nothing else, still a black screen.
Anyone else had this happen or have any tips how to fix this?
It’s a Lenovo Yoga 910-13ikb. I replaced the battery and the PC worked for about 5 minutes (residual charge on battery I guess). It would not take a charge though. I then put the original battery back and replaced the USB C card-thing. Still nothing. The first thing we did try was a new charger, nothing. Any idea on what else it could be?
Pic is the laptop, circled is the USB C card thing that I replaced.
My computer makes a weird rattling noise (Video below) it only happens when I play graphically intensive games, never when I'm playing easier to run games or browsing. It's a grating sound and just makes me think something is wrong but it's existed for a while with no noticeable issues other than the sound. The sound is not constantly but it will happen about every couple minutes or so, as the scene gets more intense in game it usually ramps the sound up more. It's driving me crazy, any insight would be appreciated.

This pc had possible water damage. No video output but everything turns on except graphics card fans. I don’t know much about computers so my son’s friend attempted a fix. He replaced the GPU and RAM. Computer worked for about an hour then once again, no video. He then replaced the power supply. Worked for 2 restarts then the same thing happened. Just replaced the graphics card and this one’s fans are working but still no signal and now there’s no power to the mouse or keyboard it seems. I’ve used the HDMI cable on other devices, it works and I’ve used other devices on the monitor and it works. I’m at a loss now.
the OS and desktop funtions are slugish sometime they frezze. the task manager says that my SSD is being used by 50% (and 100% in another app) while i use steam to download games also they take longer than they should to download. also the other components are working fine and games give me no issue it's mostly regular apps and Windows.

A while ago electricity went off and back on in an instant as i had my laptop plugged in, after that it just stopped charging, i tested the battery , the port and the charger and everything had power through it still , the laptop was still running after that but still wouldn't charge at all till the battery died , i'm not sure exactly what could the issue be to figure out if i can fix it on my own or at least know if it's worth fixing at the moment .
Hey just built a new pc. Was running great until my gpu crashed. I knew that was a common problem with the AMD 7000 series of cards. But now my pc is basically not working. It will boot but I can run any applications and it just starting loading the second I do. Also, tried to use a flashdrive to run startup repair but there was no display and but when switched back to boot from my ssd I have display again but pc is still slow. Any idea of what is going on? Please help.
Last night, it was working perfectly, until in the morning, all the apps are super slow. I tried opening Fortnite but I got this message.
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 5500
16GB RAM

Like the title says, i have an Alienware R8 from 2019 that suddenly decided to die and wont come on, no blue screen no nothing was like it had sudden power outage. the PC is clean, it has the orginal power source besides some maintenance I didnt do anything. and for the past 2-3 months i didnt open the case.
I built a computer a while ago and it worked fine for about 6 months and it started blue screening. At first it would blue screen once a week and overtime it got more frequent. It got to the point where whenever you turn the computer on, it does boot to the screen to put in the password, it just blue screens. I replaced the HDD, and the motherboard. I tried to override the windows 10 and that didn't work either. I gave up because I had to focus on school but I'm trying to give it another shot at fixing it. Do you guys have any idea what is going on with my Pc and how to fix it?
Came to the Reddit to get some opinions on what the next steps should be. Woke up today and for some reason I can’t run cod for more than 10 minutes without blue screening. I’ve tried to scan and repair through battle.net. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Ran a virus and malware scan which both came back clean. Pc was built ~4-5 years ago with newly installed gpu and cpu in the past year. Never had an issue until today. Tried to get an error code from the blue screen but my pc rebooted too quick for me to see. I’ve been playing this game since launch which was almost a month ago and had zero issues until today.
Specs: RTX 4060 AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D RAM: Corsair DDR4 idk the speed but not the best
If any other specs are needed let me know. Don’t know them off the top of my head but could grab them from the settings. Any help would be appreciated. Idk if it’s repairable or if I need to get diagnosis ran through a PC repair company.
My issue is the screen going from perfect to flickering/grey-scaling/being useless. I have tried HDMI and Display Port from two different computers. It seems to happen as soon as i hit darker graphics/videos/pictures either online or in eg. Dota. When it happens, I've tried using the internal diagnostics (basically makes the whole screen green) to show that the monitor's picture is fine, but something is odd from pc to monitor. Here's a link to a video! The monitor is a s34A650UBU from Samsung.
I know it might be cheaper to just get a new one (and I am) but I was wondering if this one can be fixed with a new panel. It’s a HP Omen 27 inch 144hz QHD monitor. I got it for like 50 USD after using some gift cards so it’s not really a big loss for me but this gives me a chance to tinker around with it without worrying about losing an investment.
The screen is cracked in the corner (accidentally flung my mouse at it when I was moving things around). Can I get cheap panels from alibaba or something similar? Also does the panel itself need to exactly match what the original manufacturer used? I know the dimensions need to but I heard people use different panel brands sometimes and was wondering if it applies to HP as well.
It won’t reset I’ve done many fix’s and only recent change to my pc is the search bar and bottom left won’t work anymore. I have a photo of what comes up when I try resetting my pc.
i boot my pc everything works normaly but the screen is black it does react when i start up like a little change from black to pure black but then i only see the screen led flashing and nothing else i tried to remove rams but when i start up without rams pc still the same didnt even make beep noise without rams
Hello I wanna know pls causes of this, what can i expect if I open the monitor case or should I just leave it be. It slowly gets bigger as time passes and the back panel behind it gets warmer than rest of it.
Any solutions? Cleaning? Led is dying?
this is asus ultrabook its fan was making weird noises so i opened it with a knife any solutions on how to stop the noise
This fell out of my PC with the hard drive anyway I can out it back?
Hello Everyone! I was hoping I could get some guidance here… My computer shut off and wont power back on.
I was playing Dragon Age Veilguard, when all of the sudden my computer died. I always play like 1 or 2 hours max and also use the PC for other stuff and still never experienced an issue lately. Before I start freaking out, I like to think it overheated and wont power on until it cools down (which I highly doubt)
Just in case what should I start to look for during diagnosing the issue. I have had problems with the power supply when I purchased this PC, claimed the warranty (which took forever to be repaired and sent back) and a few months later it failed again. So I decided to buy and replace the PSU on this same computer, from a trusted brand MSI and solved my problem (it’s been over 6 months since I replace the PSU so I also doubt this could be the issue again.
PC Specs: Asus prime b550-plus ac- hes | AMD Ryzen 7 5700G | AMD Radeon RX 6700 | 32 GB DDR4 | WD_Black 1 TB (OS) | Samsung SSD 2TB (Games) | 8TB HHD (Miscellaneous Storage) All paired with an MSI MAG 650W 80+ Bronze
It used to come with an unknown brand 600W PSU
I really appreciate your input on this.
