FIXED**
If anyone runs into this issue turn off triple buffering, worked for me.
Johns outfits, specifically the duster coat and the poncho, all are twitching up and down and clipping and will not stay still as they should be. Have not seen any solutions anywhere, does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this?
Also… it seems to get worse and better depending on where I have my camera angled.
Game crashes when switching to RDR Undead Nightmare fast travel
I play on a square monitor and right after opening the game I noticed no black bars (Top and bottom) to regulate it and right in the first cutscene parts of the names written weren't fit on the screen, I searched the options but there was no option to change aspect ratio so is there like a config file or some other method to solve this issue?
There's a sentiment going around that rdr1 should have gotten a rdr2 style remake, but I believe the result of that would have been very poor, and the game would lose a lot of what makes it special.
Red Dead Redemption 1s aesthetic was based on old western movies, particularly spaghetti westerns, which were always cartoony in their aesthetic to a degree. RDR 2 goes for a more realistic life-like level of detail and visual style, similar to what a modern period drama tv show looks like. They are 2 completely different visual styles... the easiest comparison to make would be to simply compare the areas of the map that are in both games, they are the same location but aesthetically they are completely different. The desolate baren feel of rdr1 is completely gone, replaced with a more vibrant lively look. The aesthetic is different, the color palette is different, the vibe is different.
When you upgrade the graphics to current gen standards, it demands a more realistic visual style and more aesthetic details and effects, which do not inherently make the game better. It changes the art style and can hinder the games visuals. Sometimes simpler is better. The order graphics actually complimented rdr1s art direction and the old west aesthetic they were going for.
There's also the gameplay, with that classic euphoria physics, and I think a lot of what makes the combat special would be lost with a remake.
I'm not defending the 50$ price tag (even if it's a good business decision, regardless of how many people complain, it will sell well) but I think a modern well performing 64 bit port of this game without any cancer DRM like denuvo is the best thing we could have gotten for this game. I'm very happy with this release, pricing aside.
This mentality that games always need to be changed and altered to fit modern times sucks and is destructive towards the artistry of older games.
I wanna be able to instaly reload checkpoints when i fuck up instead of waiting for enemies to kill me and bind a hotkey for that with cheat engine or another trainer
does anyone know it? it was O / B on consoles
Idk why this happened, but I’ve tried nearly every solution I could find and arrived nowhere. Decided to entirely uninstall the game and reinstall it, still no luck. The game appears in task manager but seems to time out, like steam detects the rockstar launcher but never opens the game. Please help
I remember that being my favourite way to play the game as it really nerfed the player, but I half expect Rockstar to be lazy and not include it. If anyone can check this for me, I'd appreciate it.
Hey everyone! I saw a post where u/SickTriceratops were able to upgrade DLSS version by just swapping the old DLL with a newer one, and it works fine. But since I don’t have an RTX card, FSR 3 is my only option, and I’d love to use it instead of shitty FSR 2.
So my question is: has anyone tried manually updating RDR2’s FSR 2 to FSR 3.1 by just dropping in the FSR 3 DLLs? If so, how did it go? And if this is possible, any idea where I could get the FSR 3 DLL files? I know DLSS DLLs are fairly easy to find, but FSR DLLs seem a bit trickier.
One more thing—if I’m not mistaken, FSR 2 DLLs use a different name compared to FSR 3, so it’s not as straightforward as just replacing files like it is with DLSS. If anyone has any tips or experience, I’d appreciate the help!
TIA
Since the PC port of RDR1 only supports DirectX 12 i was wondering if it would be possible to make a Vulkan compatibility modification? Could be beneficial for users that currently have a GPU that does not support DirectX 12.
I tried red dead 2 scaling mode config line in RD1 config to make 1.25x resolution scale and it seems to work
<scalingMode>kSettingScale_Mode5o4</scalingMode>
This command makes it 1.25x specifcally the Mode5o4
but i want to go higher than that.. i have no idea what the mode numbers for 1.5x, 2x, 2.25x would be. I got the 1.25x value from google but cant find the other ones
What do you think?
In the console they when you moved forward they would be turn by themselves making them hard to control but in pc port they behave like regular horses for some reason it might be bugged
Has anyone figured out how to have higher than native resolution scaling?
Some games you can force the resolution to scale higher than your native monitor resolution
(for textures not downscale and upscale for aliasing)
Red dead 2 had an option to do that included and im sure its possible here too i just dont know the command
Here are the file paths to the config files if anyone wants to try
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption\Profiles\[USER ID]
C:\Users\paper\AppData\Roaming\.1911\Red Dead Redemption\title
I wanna be able to do like 1.25x-1.50x res scaling
I dont have red dead 2 installed right now but if someone who does can set their in game res scale to 1.5 and then look at the config file to get the command and try it in red dead 1 config file to see if it works.. or if anyone knows other commands that do this
Red Dead 2 shipped with DLSS 2.0, I believe, which is now outdated. Turns out you can very easily replace the "nvngx_dlss.dll" in the game directory with the latest version, and the game will massively benefit from it. It looks way crisper, with less eye-melting over-sharpening, much better looking hair (no more pixelation) and eyelashes.
I grabbed "Nvidia DLSS DLL 3.7.20" from TechPowerUp (also available elsewhere e.g. TechSpot). Installation couldn't be simpler: drag and drop, replace the existing .dll. Keep the old file around if, for some reason, you want to swap back. I don't play Online, so not sure if it affects that.
Hey, anyone has any idea how to fix or at least what causes the glitchy blocks to appear in the sky?
I just started the game and everything running smooth until I notice a blocky artifice in the sky during the cinematic, I'm thinking maybe it's only in during that scene, but then as soon as I get off the train, there you have it.
Of course I'm talking about the recent PC version of the game.
as soon as i enter the starting cutscene the game seems fine for a bit but then it starts doing this weird black flickering for a few seconds. game runs fine though idk, anyone know a fix?
game auto saves and also I found the save files but every time I launch game there is no option to load anything just starts new game.
When using Progress to lauch a certain mission, game stuck and FFF pops out. I tried to take out the scripthook, it worked, but with the scripthook, it just keeps crashing. Anyone knows why all of a sudden it cannot work with scripthook?
started a new game, when i was about to enter the bar, i noticed that the horses and the people disappear for a second then pop up again. it was like flickering, help?
I heard the people who used to own the old euphoria system that Rockstar uses gave it up (idk exactly what happened), resulting in a LOT of missing features in current games that uses their system. For example in RDR, I heard when you shoot peds in their legs, they're unable to stand up, but will still shoot you on the ground. Or other times, they'd crawl away from you when they're dying and both legs are injured. RDR2 doesn't have these kinds of things in its euphoria, making the current euphoria a downgrade from what it was before (imo).
I bought RDR2 in 2022 through Steam and played successfully. I went to reinstall it today for a playthrough before buying RDR and got a "This Steam account is already linked to a diffrent rockstar Games account. Please login with that account instead" on the Rockstar launcher. Theres no way its linked to another account, I havent played a Rockstar game or had a new email since 2022. I've contacted Rockstar support but had no reply. Anyone have any advice?
