Hello Oshkoshians,
I was wondering if anyone has seen any plans, for Oshkosh to join in the nation wide general protest on Feb. 5th?
If not, I would like to get one going as I will be there regardless. You are all free to join. It will be peacefull and we can talk and educate each other.
I want to emphasize, I would love to make it a productive and fun event while also standing against the selling/purchase of our governement.
If anyone has questions I will be downtown at the plaza by Main and High ave around 3:30-5(If I am alone. Time is set to change if more people plan on being there. Updates to follow.). You won't miss me.
Thanks and have a great day! -()
Did you hear? Missy Green and Mike Melter have appointed themselves to the Oshkosh School board!!!
Joking aside, Kelly DeWitt and Timothy Hess (aka: Missy Green and Mike Melter) are an embarrassment to Oshkosh. Creating fake aliases online is desperate and deceitful. Then pretending that was a first amendment issue; well that is beyond pathetic.
The joint statement said they will continue to defend themselves. Of course it did. Because they know damn well they will have to defend themselves. Continuously and forever. Their deceitful actions have marketed their opinions untrustworthy and meaningless. They will forever be trolled. If not out loud, in the back of our minds. Any amount of public time they are given in the future will be unproductive and wasteful. Missy and Mikey's ethics will always be questioned. And their presence forever be a distraction from the true educational issues at hand. Missy and Mikey hired lawyers, so obviously they intend to keep these jobs. But I still think the whole thing is gross and the morally correct thing would have been to resign.
I'm specifically looking for old wwe/wwf title belts for my siblings, I know the area is big in the pro wrestling scene, so is there anywhere that sells old toys like that around here?
I am getting anxiety tonight - getting updates from this week news about planes.... anyone else starting to get nervous especially with the 2 accidental sirens going off last weekend????
Do you think the city should hold an open meeting for assurance regarding safety drills or preparations? Is there a safety group or national guard plan that know what to do for unpredictable events? Does the EAA have a secure and well organize structure flow even with the recent change of TSA?
I wish I wasn't thinking this way 😕 anyone else secretly thinking this in the back of their minds wondering what to do for the impossible but hoping it never happens? Trying to speak with the older folks who also want to answer but don't have a confident answer during these unsettling times.
Is there a liquidation store or anything in Oshkosh or near by that sells super cheap wedding dresses? Like under $100 cheap? We are having a simple courthouse ceremony and don't want to spend hundreds or thousands on a dress I'll be wearing for a few hours at most, and I'm trying to avoid places like shein if possible. Any tips greatly appreciated!
Curious if there are any bars or hang out spots that skew more liberal. Alternatively if there are any MAGA places to avoid for sure. Thank you
Hello all! I own a home in Oshkosh and I am going to be working overseas for a year or two. I don't want to sell my house, because I will most likely be coming back afterwards. I have never rented out property before, and this is my only home. I'm hoping to find a reputable property manager since I won't be in the area to take care of anything that needs to be done, repairs, etc.
Its a nice decent place, near the college and big enough for a family or multiple roommates. I'm not sure what is reasonable rent, but I am hoping to get around ~2000 if possible.
If anyone has recommendations for a management company, or any advice about renting a property out for a year or two, I would love to hear it!
Title - Looking for an artist in the area or surrounding areas who does good blackout work.
Bonus if they have a studio website with their portfolio.
Near Menominee zoo. On and off sirens for the last few minutes.
Anyone know a good local farm to buy eggs from? If I’m paying 10 bucks for eggs I might as well directly support a local family instead of Kroger.
Hey Oshkosh community!
I have lived in Oshkosh my whole life, and a major reptile lover. I am looking into chasing my dream of owning a reptile store. Oshkosh really only has two places that provide reptile supplies, neither of which is great when it comes to what they carry and misinformation is rampant in these places. I want a store that will provide the best supplies and has a knowledgeable staff to help people do the best for our animals. Our community deserves a place that’s close and friendly.
My idea is simple: I want to open a reptile store somewhere in Oshkosh, likely downtown. I want to have live plants suited for various terrariums, tanks, heating equipment, tank supplies, live feeders etc. Everything you could possibly need to take the best care of your animals. This would also be perfect for anyone who owns insects or amphibians as well. I’ve seen similar stores in bigger cities, as well as in Appleton. Such as Wild Habitatz or Reptile Rapture for a general idea of what I am looking to do here.
I’m just curious if anyone is actually interested in this type of business here. I’d love some feedback as to if this would be a viable business, if you’d like to see a store like this or even just ideas.
What the heck are the sirens going crazy for?
UPDATE: apparently it was a system malfunction
I have worked in factorys and general labor jobs most of my life I have a disability that has made it difficult for me to work in jobs that require a lot of standing and physical labor. I have applied at so many places work from online etc I tried Walmart and nothing seems to want to hire me. I have worked with DVR but my condition is limiting to jobs I can work because it's so unpredictable.
Planning a birthday for a girl turning 16 in a couple months!! We’re both not really sure on where to have this party. All she’s told me is that’s it’s got to have food and needs to be fun for her and her friends. I don’t think she’s going to be inviting more than ten people. Anyone got any ideas?
Any recommendations before it ends on Sunday?
best places to look to stay for air venture ? i will be traveling from Pennsylvania so its about 10 hours. looking for best locations in relation to the airport. preferably within a 35-40 min or closer drive (the better!!) i would personally love to be able to walk a mile from somewhere to the airshow but i also do not want to break the bank 😂 TIA!!
Hey, community, I'm starting to shop for insurance companies to switch to because my current insurance has gotten out of control, even with a clean driving record. Do any of you have recommendations on people you use or know that offer decent coverage at a reasonable price? Thanks all.
I’ve never gotten my beard professionally trimmed or “lined up”. Where should I go?
My wife and I live here in Oshkosh and have met several people in the local community that enjoy electronic dance music (EDM). We've attended several festivals over the years (EDC, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, Tomorrowland, etc.) and rarely run into anyone from Northeast Wisconsin. We were super excited to find out about a new EDM festival happening up in Cadott called Force Fields. This morning the lineup just dropped, and it is stacked for bass lovers like us. Liquid Stranger, Rezz, RL Grime, Peekaboo, Marshmello - and dozens of others.
We're buying camping and tickets this Thursday when they go on sale. We'd love to meet others from the area that are going! We already have a fun campsite layout that we use for festivals, and now we're going to UFO-ify it for this new festival. Let me know if we should keep an eye out for you!
Hey everyone!
I’ll be moving to Oshkosh in the next few months for work. I’m Mexican, and one of my biggest concerns (not to say fears) is racism/classism. Since I was young and worked for Americans in call centers, racism has always been an issue. Regarding Oshkosh, I’ve been seeing that it has excellent schools, a climate that I personally love, and the fact that it’s a small town is something I’m really excited about (I currently live in a very large and overcrowded city, where the distance from the northernmost point of Appleton to the southernmost point of Oshkosh is roughly the diameter of my city).
About us: Honestly, neither my wife nor I are problematic people; quite the opposite. Our home is always open to others. We’re clean, we like helping the community, and we’re happy to assist anyone in need. The thing is, as I mentioned before, I’ve already dealt with a lot of racism and classism just for being Mexican. What makes it worse is that it’s never been to my face, it's always been over the phone or in a meeting. It’s not pleasant to be ignored or to hear a random “f***Mexican” for no reason.
So, my questions are:
Thanks so much for reading this, and I hope to meet you all soon!
The husband and I are planning to remodel at least one (if not both) of our bathrooms this year. Does anyone have recommendations of companies/contractors in the Fox Valley area they’ve really liked? (Or ones they’d recommend we stay far, far away from?)
Has anyone ever had Wagner’s market, make venison Brats from their deer trim? If so, was it good and which ones would you suggest getting?
Anyone else been looking for drones? I’ve been seeing quite a few and lot of pin points of light shooting across the sky in multiples of 20 or more. Crazy stuff.
I just got the tax bill and the escrow check from my bank. I have to pay the city a difference of $640.
Last year I had to pay a difference of around $70, and there's never been that huge of a discrepancy before.
Anyone else see that this year?
Hi everyone,
I moved back to Oshkosh from Madison about 6 months ago and honestly, it can get boring and lonely around here. I'm 23 (almost 24) and love things like playing music, making art, reading, board games, working out, cooking, video games, etc. I constantly look for things on sites like meetup, Facebook groups, and the public library for things to do. It seems really hard to find something to do around here and meet new friends unless you go out to bars and stuff. I don't drink so that atmosphere just isn't my thing.
How can I meet new people around my interests while living here when other than bars, the social scene seems to be not very existant? Have any of you ever had success at creating a group/event of your own? I want to meet people mostly around my age who I can get together with and have fun and explore our hobbies and interests.
