Sure wish there was a real restaurant like storkys here .
Do prisons ever get inspected? After seeing the surveillance camera question, I’m curious if any type of regulatory inspections are done bc I’m sure faulty cameras wouldn’t pass inspections…but it’s a show 🤷🏽♀️
So I was chatting with my mom about orange is the new black and I mentioned how as the final season went on, I started to hope that piper would end up with Zelda. And she looked at me like I had just grown 4 heads.
If I were piper, I would have probably gone with Zelda in the end. I loved alex and pipers relationship, but it was so toxic and they did so many horrible things to each other. I mean the ending was sweet, for them atleast, but I would've been happy with whoever piper ended up with. If only Zelda had more screen time
They may be annoying, but the scene of them trying to order a pizza during the riot had me pausing the show wiping tears from my eyes😂
I'm not sure if it was ever stated but in the first episode when Nicky was in the bunk with Piper cause she was in solitary. How long was she in solitary?
If you were an inmate at Litchfield what would you dress up as, and what items would you use to make your costume?
What do you think the characters would’ve dressed up as?
season 2 episoade 9, in the flashback scene, vee’s girls beat up red because she refused to give them her Chanel… what happened after ? its never explained. Did red give it up? How did Vee get out of prison. Let’s say red has been in prison for 10 years, when did Vee have time to take care of taystee, go prison, run her business out of prison and everything ? Also it’s never explained HOW Vee gets the tobacco and drugs in the prison through custodial anyway. Someone explain it to me
In season five the inmates have all the guards in a room as hostages, Zirconia forced them to watch "Two Girls One Cup."
Does that count as torture?
Comments!
Last week I learnt, the guard death was kind of inspired by Darren Rainey, the riot by the Attica Prison riot, (so many of these things were shown). I believe Beth the baby killer is also inspired, I saw a documentary on that. Poussey death by the George Floyd incident.
So I'm re-watching OITNB S7 E6, Caputo gave inmates an assignment to write a letter to a victim of theirs. Maria doesn't think she has a victim she reads her letter and Caputotells her to try writing it again. Cindy Hayes reads her letter dedicated to her daughter, and that made it seem like Maria was thinking about out her situation with Yadriel.
The scene then cuts to an earlier version of Maria on the phones trying to reach Yadriel. Amazed he picked up the phone, she tells him she's pregnant and says "you're the only one I've been with".....but wait she was screwing Miguel or whatever the guys name was that she had sex with in her store in the mall. She even had sex with him right before getting busted.
So were they trying to say Maria realized she victimized Yadriel by claiming the baby was his without knowing for sure?
And for some reason I like Barb and Carol now. They used to be annoying af, but this time around I found them interesting. The one who truly annoys me is Badison with her sad(ison) made up name. Also I know ppl don’t like Daya very much but I love her and Daddy in the show.
why does her uniform say “B. McCullough” in Season 7 when her name is artesian? so weird!!
This might sound a little stupid but I was just wondering what was the creators trying to convey with the scenes with bayley trying to send himself to jail and to apologize to poussey’s dad. and the whole thing with him on the bus and the lady with the kid. That and his backstory. I just feel like it didnt really add much to the plot or the show in general. Like was it trying to evoke sympathy for him? What are your thoughts on this.
So I'm barely into episode 2 and I'm extremely pissed off at the way they are being treated by the guards. Idk if I'm gonna be able to watch this. I want to finish the show but it may not be worth it to me if they aren't treated better soon bc the absolute injustice is too much of a trigger for my brain. Does it get better? I'm okay with any spoilers honestly bc I'm about to just find a litt charts kinda thing for this and just watch the last episode of the series.
Should I even bother watching the rest of its stressing me out? Will it stop being like this or only get worse?
At a certain point the women in Litchfield grew tired and saw a danger in Vee. They did a spell to get rid of her and she escaped only to die on the highway when Rosa nailed her with the van.
Could be argued the Santeria worked.
Gloria had flashback memories of a ritual for a boy in the doctor's office, and when they did ultrasound the child was in fact a boy.
Norma followers were talking about a miracle and then there was a hole in the fence. Every woman felt "normal" for a brief moment, a miracle in some form.
Then that damn chicken.
I know magic is not the main focus but it seemed to play an important role in season three. Didn't Poussey ask for help too, Norma broke the egg remember.
Someone please explain what is the meaning of the chicken.
Ok so we see many side plots that have aren’t with the girls in prison but the free people. I want to know what is your favorite side plot from the people not in prison?
Ok so I’m kinda confused on how Gloria committed fraud with food stamps Ik they explained it in the show but I’m still so confused.
They justify this weird name in the series by having her say it's a French name. It's not. Nobody is calling their kids Poussey in France, and I do mean nonody. I obviously include the Black French community.
This name is completely made up and has nothing to do with France.
What upset me even more than Poussey's death was watching those two MCC fuckheads try to paint her as a thug behind the scenes to cover their asses. I am autistic with a strong sense of justice and I only mention this because I know that this exact thing happens in real life and it makes me sick to my stomach. It really reminds you of how little humanity these people have at the end of the day.
It also occurs to me that it makes me so uncomfortable that if I want to, I can turn the TV off. But other people aren't so lucky. If anything I'm so thankful for this show because anger is one of the best catalysts for change. I hope white people like myself watched this and maybe it got them angry enough to start actively trying to make a difference.
The 13th episode of season 7 was heartbreaking. Everything that happened especially with doggett was so sad. And the flashback with poussey reminded me of how sad her death was, and alex breaking up with piper was horrible but also understandable. In the last part of the show I was honestly kindve hoping that piper would get with Zelda. And everything with reds dementia hit way to close to home, with Nicky especially.
I'm so glad the 14th episode ended things on a happier note! I loved how doggett was miraculously resuscitated and how Cindy came clean and taystee was subsequently freed, getting back on her feet with the poussey Washington fund she started. It was also nice how Zelda found the woman of her dreams and now piper and alex, Zelda and her new wife, cal and Neri, polly and Larry, and Joe and Natalie all moved into the same cul de sac and got up to all sorts of 90s sitcom hijinx together. And how it turned out that a clerical error lead to the doctors thinking Sterling was dead and now Lorna gets out and lives a happy life with moochio. And how alieda and dayanara reconcile. And how through a series of unrelated events Mendez, heilman, and that guy who sold donuts become prisoners together. Also many years later red dies in a hospital bed surrounded by her children, both biological and adopted.
Do any of you think that taystee was able to forgive baylee for the murder. We know that she was able to forgive piscatella to some degree but we never hear about baylee again. i would assume she also kinda forgives baylee as the main villain in the story was piscatella.
I know it’s a tv show but it’s so hard for me to believe there aren’t surveillance cameras all over prisons…. It would obviously poke holes in tons of plot points but I can’t stop thinking about this lol
(Sorry if my grammar is poor, English is not my first language) Okay this is my honest opinion about season 6. Why is it so depressing? It makes me so claustrophobic, the guards are all assholes (excuse my language) The first few episodes I just felt this kind of rage, the fact that they try to setup Red and Tasha… there is almost no justice for them. I’m sorry but Tamika? Being mean and aggressive just doesn’t fit her. You immediately feel that she’s forcing this persona.
And don’t get me started on the male guards :( it makes me so frustrated It was pretty difficult finishing this season I don’t even know if I want to watch the last one I feel like season 6 was very chaotic and the new characters didn’t have positive storylines, it felt like you couldn’t empathise with them
Hey, I'm rewatching oitnb again after a few years and what can I say, I still love the show.
But I have a question about a scene/ a joke that I didn't understand. It's about the scene where Nicky and Luschek sitting on a bench and Nicky is smoking one of Vee's cigarettes. Caputo arrives and suspects Luschek of having just smoked. Luschek answers: Why do you assume I‘m a smoker? And Caputo says something like: Cause you‘re from Oswego.
So what does this town have to do with it? I'm from Europe and can only guess what it means from the context. You can probably only understand it if you're from New York or the US…. So, can anyone explain this for me?
Did anybody else notice that when a character became like a gang leader that they started wearing slick back ponytails. Like piper, Maria, and daya like they all started wearing those ponytails when they were leading the gangs
So I tried watching OITNB a long time ago but didn’t manage to get through the first episode. However I went back to it recently and sped through the first season. I’m now a few episodes into season 2 but the weird thing is that I don’t love the show. I don’t find it that funny and only really like some of the side characters (although Piper has grown on me) but I still can’t seem to stop watching it. It feels kinda like a comfort show in a way but I don’t think I’d actually rate it that highly. Anyone else feel like this?
Anyone know the name of the actor who plays Maritza’s boss during her backstory scenes? (The one who offers her a better job in the nightclub and car dealership scene)
ever since the beginning of the show they try to push this narrative that piper is a horrible person who everyone hates and that she's some kind of cold blooded heartless monster. i really don't see how that's the case. piper doesn't really DO anything to anyone on a large scale. at most she gets into little quarrels with individual people. when she insulted red and was starved, that was really only between her and red. when the whole larry/alex drama went down, that was only between her and alex and larry. when the drama with tiffany went down, it was only between them. same with healy. i guess the furlough was a good reason for everyone to hate on her, but this whole narrative was established well before that. it just feels so forced
