Does anyone remember any of the questions that were on the Csmc today? If so, could you dm me them? Thank you
would we get participation for csmc no matter what? Even if we didn’t meet the cutoff?
im applying to mac life sci and im so worried that the cut off is gna be higher than a 93%. do u guys think grade inflation is gna be a big issue this yr?
Dear Vectors, fuck you
honestly what a waste of my brain power when i even remotely think of you
rest of calculus unit, thank you
(exception given to curve sketching, 2nd place to worst unit)
I actually have no idea how the application process works or which marks the universities look at. I just know that the deadline is January 15th or something, and I apply using the OUAC website. I heard a couple people at school talking about getting accepted, and receiving scholarships already, which is insane. I had pretty good marks in grade 11 (90 average), but I'm not doing as well this year so far. I still haven't received my actual midterm marks, but I'm expecting an 85+ in Kin, a 90+ in English, a low 70 in Chem, and I'm not even sure if I'm passing functions right now! I think I'm just going to apply to a bunch of programs, and then hope that I get into something somewhere. If I don't, grade 13?
I'm thinking of applying to Arts and Science at McMaster, UofT (St. George), Guelph, and Queens. I might apply to Western for bio, and to Mac for kin.
Do I have a chance of getting in anywhere? Does it matter when I apply? Is it too late for early acceptance?
Iam applying for post secondary institutions through ouac right now and I realized that I cannot pay application fees for different institutions separately?? Im applying to Queens, Western, and Uoft, but I want to take more time to finalize my UofT personal profile and submit my applications for the other two first. Would I be able to come back and apply for uoft after submitting applications for other institutions?
How to get in with 91?
the website says the requirement for science can be bio, chem or physics but the ontariouniversities website and their schools booklet is saying either chem or physics is required.
which one do i follow because i was planning on dropping chem next sem??
for finance, or accounting, what matters more? does it matter?
I want to apply to UTSC DD (BBA + quant finance)
either i’m stupid or this is just known but apparently if two programs have the same requirements then you either get into both or none. like can someone confirm that for me. the thought of not getting into any programs feels so nerve racking. also what are your guys thoughts on marketing management and hospitality and tourism management.
for context i got accepted to western cs today!this feels like a really stupid question but should i apply for residence right now, even if i don't know if i'm going to commit? (also if anyone has any recommendations for residence that would also be helpful!)
I want to go to the Physics field, preferably Waterloo astrophysics (admission averages are low-mid 80s but I'm sure it's a bit higher than that).
I'm in grade 11 so grades aren't a huge priority but they concern me since I feel like they represent how well I'm doing in grade 12. I'm likely averaging an 85 for my top 6 U courses. I am taking all 3 sciences and am in the gifted program, meaning that 5 of my 6 courses will be pre-AP difficulty.
Will I be fine in grade 12 if I study a bit harder?
Rant:
Hi yall, so this is about my grade 12 biology class. And those taking it know it's pretty challenging. We haven't had a teacher for more than a month now. I don't know what happened to him. While he was here, we only had one quiz. Three assignments were handed in by the class after he left. And the school is giving away random fucking grades. They claim that the assignments we've handed in have been taken into consideration in order to determine our midterm grades. Except I didnt even hand in 2 of the assignments until 2 days ago. So why tf isn't my grade like a 60? Instead it's a 88. Completely made up grade. Nobody even received their graded assignments back. Meanwhile I overheard a this guy saying he got a 100. How tf is that even possible? I know that guy, and he didnt even get 100 on the first quiz. Anyways what the actual fuck is going on? And thanks for reading my rant :)
I’m seeing a lot posts about English being the most challenging class in which to achieve high marks. Here is advice from someone who had a 97 in English and now works professionally as a writer (in a very lucrative field). You might not like it, but I can guarantee it’s likely one of the biggest factors contributing to your struggle to becoming an A student in English.
In order to be a strong writer and do well in English you need to read, and ideally write, a lot more than you already do outside of class. Our culture is not conducive to reading books and newspapers. We tend towards the instant gratification of social media rather than reading good quality long form content. You won’t develop a diverse vocabulary, eye for good grammar and sentence structure, and critical analysis skills, unless you are reading regularly on your own time.
Frankly, it doesn’t matter what you read as long as it’s high quality and at minimum long form journalism if not actual books. Read about whatever interests you - feature articles in newspapers and magazines, fiction, biographies - it doesn’t matter.
If you want to take it to the next level, write as well. Journal, write a short summary of your thoughts or feelings about something you just read. Write a nice long email to your grandparents or a family member updating them on your life (they will love that). Find a pen pal (there’s a PenPal sub on Reddit). Write fan fiction about your favourite show. Anything.
I bet if you talk to one of the top students in your English class, you will find they are voracious readers, and may have some kind of hobby that involves writing as well. I was on the school paper and generally read 3 or 4 books a month for fun outside school.
The people with super high marks in social sciences and English are going to excel in careers in those fields and probably have a natural ability and inclination towards writing. Remember the high marks in these classes are going to people with these gifts, just as you might struggle less in Math and Science (I did well in calculus but really struggled in chemistry and physics- dropped after grade 11). There seem to be a very high proportion of STEM inclined students in this sub (which is awesome) and English might never be your best subject (that’s ok and why I am able to be successful, so thank you!) but my advice could help you find more ease with English and help increase your grades. I also promise that you will never regret reading more and bettering your writing skills (especially for anyone going into business!)
Hope this helps and good luck. You are all doing amazing!!
I’ll keep it simple, my 4 Choices are:
York- Crim or Poli Science
Tmu- Crim or Politics and Governance
Seneca- Crime Intelligence and Analysis
McMaster-1. Justice, Political Philosophy and Law or Poli Science
I’m an average student with an estimated average around the low to mid 80’s. That should be fine bcc these are all Bachelor of Arts
Residency is not an option for either (bcc of money) so I’ll be communicating from Brampton everyday.
Parents want me to go to York or Tmu bcc they are the closest (~ 1:30hr commute one way). But I know they are commuter schools and don’t have that traditional college atmosphere. No school spirit, parties, big sports games etc. That’s why I rlly wanna go to McMaster. I’m a guy that likes to have fun. If I’m gonna be in debt bcc of college, I might as well get the full college experience right. It will be about a 2 - 2:30 commute one way. I know it will be hard but I hope I can do it everyday.
Anyways any advice, tips or past experiences will be much appreciated. Thanks
Sorry for the long read
I got an early acceptance letter from LU however it has not shown up on my ouac and I cant figure out how to accept it. Ps should i be worried? I dont know how early acceptance works. Is it first to accept the letter gets in? Let me know Thanks
Pardon my French, "fuck up" is the only word I know to describe the way I've behaved these past 4 years of high school. Academically, whatever, there's been highs and lows (chemistry). But socially and romantically....fugwouwengaibgrireg. I've been such a fool. It's not funny, it's not cute. I can't even laugh and say I'm an innocent high schooler, I genuinely wish I could amnesia myself, and I genuinely need to get as far away from this town as humanely possible thank you for coming to my ted talk also i hope everyone reading this is having a good 2024 and good rest of your life and i hope you get into your dreamprogramokaybye.
Hi! I just had my trig test and I think my grade is going to drop at least 5% (have a 96). If anyone has taken the course, how is the vectors portion? Hoping to be able to end with a 95.
Question
Here are some good YouTubers that helped me out last year:
https://www.youtube.com/@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234 (she has tests she takes up and an sample exam)
https://www.youtube.com/@MrJensenMath10 (visit his website so much practice questions a lot of teachers even re uses his tests)
https://www.youtube.com/@AllThingsMathematics (he doesn't post much often but the questions he takes up are challenging in some units)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtHOb82g760&list=PLOOybF6Fi6MLygDcDy9iwbQw_crCxXaP0 (he doesn't have much videos but might be useful)
https://www.youtube.com/@TheOrganicChemistryTutor (honestly he doesn't go over hard questions this should be good for just learning concepts)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKdLLzsdke0&list=PLJ-ma5dJyAqrorsmw4Vk90I9r7GvvQtT- ( he just takes up questions his questions are pretty challenging because its AP level so if your teacher puts tricky questions watch his videos)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZwTxxKfj2o&list=PL0G-Nd0V5ZMrKn3ed9LXqp9n4avvpYwEd ( he also has challenging questions however he goes a bit fast and his teaching may be different then what your teacher shows because he is from America)
Do you get stuck on a question and need help to solve? These are certified teachers who can help you out the first one you need to go on a phone call the 2nd one you can just chat these are like free tutors (they also help with other maths) I dont know if you need to be in TDSB only to access theses though
If not dm me and ill try my best to respond I dont know how fast ill be though
(helps with English, chemistry, math every subject and for any grade)
What I suggest is that every unit after doing your homework watch videos from all of these YouTubers and do the practice questions with them you should be doing a lot of practice questions honestly for some people doing the homework is just not enough which is normal these YouTubers also post videos for calculus

Im planning on taking it next semester because our teachers are all very hard markers. Anyone taken it in TDSB know what it’s like?
i’m in grade 11 rn what do i need to get in math and english or just in general to actually get into a finance based business program or commerce ? i see on the myblueprint app it says 70 required but obviously i need to get higher then that to actually get in
Hi I'm quebec Cegep 1st year student. I am currently in dawson pure and applied program, and it is hurting me so hard and my average is so dropped, around 88 (+-5% since im not sure about my final mark) right now with 98 in programming, 100 in calculus(it will be dropped soon cuz my professor didnt correct some tests), 80 in mechanics and 81 in ecology. I already applied for uoft life science for st.george, mississauga and Scarborough campus as well as waterloo health science. I would like to ask how many possibilities I have to get into those universities. I'm so nervous right now 😭😭😭
Okay, so I have already received a conditional offer from Laurier and my average cannot be lower than 80. My biology class rn is killing my average and it may make it less than 80, will Laurier revoke my offer or will they not care about midterms and only care about finals? I think for finals I should be able to get my grades up, or is there one of those student profile forms I fill out where I state why my average is lower than it should be?
im currently in gr 12 rn and i want to go into law, specifically criminology. my mom wants me to go to mac but the issue is, they don’t have my desired program and it’s only justice/political philosophy/law in the humanities program. my other choices are tmu and brock for criminology but due to financial issues + it’s far from when i live, i can’t apply to those university atm let alone get residency 😔 does anyone have any recommendations for what i could do? would i still be able to pursue something in criminal law if i go to mac? i’d really appreciate it, ty
If anyone has any OVS grade 11 chem labs and tests PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE message me !!!
Im currently struggling so bad.
I studied at an adult High School. Is school matter to get into UofT?
Every English teacher I’ve ever had is such a hard marker, I literally put my sweat and tears into writing an essay just for the teacher to give me a good comment but a bad grade, also our midterm reports came out yesterday and the class average was less than a 75%.
I really want to become a dentist and don’t really know what undergrad programs I should apply to. I’m applying to medical science but I want more options. The only issue is that I did not take advanced functions because last year in grade 11 I still didn’t make that decision so I don’t even have the pre req for grade 12 advanced functions. Could you give me different options for programs and I’ll look to see if I have the requirements!?🫠
