Olympia is the capital of Washington State and the Thurston County seat.
Olympia is located at the southern tip of Puget Sound.
I wish I was on a highway back to Olympia...

Thinking about moving? Coming to town soon? Post here. Or Else!
^^^^^mwahahahahaha!
Went last weekend and didn't see any at McLane Nature Trail. Anywhere to see them in the next few days? Or better yet is there an online tracker that exists?
Any bars/restaurants playing election coverage this year? Debating whether to stay in and stream it or wander out.
I stopped at Big Stump Bikes today at Division and Harrison. I’ve been riding bikes pretty much every day for 35 years, and this place checked all the boxes for me. The mechanic got my persnickety bike’s shifting dialed in, they have a great array of new, used, analog and electric bikes, and they seem to really get it.
Best of all there was no weird attitude. Just nice people who are into bikes. It was…refreshing.
Thought some of you all would like to know.
Title says it all, I just need basic polish and cuticle maintenance. No acrylics, no dips, no gels!
Just like the title says. Looking for recommendations on any local vehicle wrap locations. I’m looking to get a single vehicle wrapped. Nothing special.
Come get funky and dance off your Halloween candy!
**Edit: It was the Women’s March. Thanks everyone!
Was having a coffee when I heard a marching/brass band playing “This Little Light of Mine.” When I finally tried to look, I saw what appeared to be a march on Capitol… Anyone know the context?
Hello everyone! My wife and I moved to Olympia earlier this year and we were hoping for some recommendations on restaurants. We used to love going to Koizi in Tampa, FL and I've seen a lot of great recommendations for sushi restaurants on here but I was hoping to see what everyone likes for AYCE. Thank you!
Hi, I'm looking for a jeweler that works well with silver in Olympia/Lacey. I need a ring resized and it's a complicated design. I don't want to go to the big-box jewelers for this one. Thank you in advance!
I'm seeing a lot of hungry birds this fall and and new to this. Looking for a feeder that won't get robbed by squirrels and can feed the most types of birdies. Thanks in advance.
First, is Sleater pronounced Sleet-er or Slate-er?
Anything else I'll inevitably fuck up? Just moved here last week from an area of Texas that everyone not from there mispronounced everything, so I'm trying desperately to not be that person.
By the way, are y'all aware that this place you live in is freaking gorgeous? Holy shit.
Hey All, curious if anyone knows what's up with the former Levels building in downtown at 425 Franklin St SE? It looks like it's being restored, lots of work fixing it up, adding new doors, painting etc, but no signage yet for what's going in there. Any ideas? It's been closed since I moved here and it would be cool for something to open it again.
I was downtown last week and just noticed the little art supply store was gone. Where do people go for good supplies?
Book and Brush in Chehalis has a decent selection, but what about closer to Oly?
Years and years ago, Kenny who owned the Eastside used to have great Cheesesteaks. It was rumored he shipped in the rolls and peppers. They were amazing. Now, living in cheesesteak land, I wanna know...were the rolls Amoroso's and were the peppers long hots? If anyone knows, I'd love to hear it!
I'm really excited for Olympia readers to meet Elaine U. Cho and check out her debut novel, Ocean's Godori. She will be in conversation with me at Browsers today: https://browsersolympia.com/events
We'll talk about Korean food, how book publishers are like record labels, the relationship between women and science fiction, and more. Perfect excuse to get out of the house! Come by and say hello!
"A vast and complicated political landscape undergirds the resulting adventure, which is full of slow-burn romance, tense negotiation, and close shaves. Every scene builds suspense and illuminates fascinating themes of exploitation, privilege, and identity, all held together by a sweet found family narrative. Ambitious and heartwarming, this is a treat."

While living in Olympia for the past year- why is it so hard to make friends here? Washington feels like it’s such a hard place to meet others because most people are introverted or stay in their small groups lol. Or maybe it’s an after effect from COVID???
Since my husband is Deployed I want to make more friends. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on where to go to meet more people?
Would it make any difference if I just posted about myself?? 😂😂
(UPDATE: for shits and giggles I did it. https://www.reddit.com/u/SoftJunjun0/s/q6qConk7jE)
I’m wondering what places local we may have that appears similar to the Architecture pictured as Hogwarts in Harry Potter ! I’m hoping to get some photos done !
So far I have
However almost all of these are in Seattle and I’m hoping for something more local . Any ideas ? I’d love to find a spot like Hagrids hut ! (Dream big, I know lol)
Posting on behalf of a friend.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. I was outside enjoying the night sky looking at the stars looking towards the Puget sound from the Tolmie State Park area. Suddenly, I see a burning green ball falling from the sky. It didn't look that big, but it wasn't tiny and far off, I'm not entirely sure how close it was to me it is difficult to judge. It fell for a few seconds, and then burnt up. No impact heard. I'm not entirely sure what it was, I'm fairly certain it was some sort of space debris, but who knows.
Does anyone know where I can find beet kvass?
Looking for a tattoo artist in the area skilled at both traditional and realism! Thank you in advance for suggestions
I'm putting together a cooking class event for a community organization I help with. Looking for tips on rentable kitchen spaces that are big enough for 6-10.
I've seen Lacey Community Center, although it looks like only weekdays?
Any feedback on the LocOly space in the mall?
Other likely spots?
Hey guys! So I have a friend who is trying to throw herself a baby shower. I feel terrible because normally your not supposed to plan your own babyshower but all her family lives in Nebraska. We had a venue set up for November 16th but that plan fell through. She was thinking about having it outside at a park but I'm worried it will be rainy and cold. Do you guys have any recommendations on where to look for party room rentals for around 17 people? We are in nisqually area but anywhere around Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater area is perfect.

Does anybody in Thurston County make dutch babies/german pancakes, or do I really have to go all the way to Tacoma? 😩 (I already looked at the German Diner menu in Lacey and they don't seem to have breakfast)
