Olympia is the capital of Washington State and the Thurston County seat.
Olympia is located at the southern tip of Puget Sound.
I wish I was on a highway back to Olympia...

My first time at the capital for a protest, where do people normally park and walk from?
Looking for recs for a remodeling job of turning a 8x6x2 foot pantry into actually useful rollout shelves. Searched the older recs and found one potential (First Finishers Yelm) but looking for other recs (gotta get your 3 quotes ;-)
Hey, some protest/activism opportunities for Antron interested!
If you didn’t know, there’s an Irish céilí (traditional music session) that goes on every Monday at Wild Child (next to McCoy’s) in downtown! Fiddles, pipes, banjos, and more show up and do about two hours of music.
Downtown is usually an annoying ghost town on Monday, but this is definitely something to check out. The closest thing I’ve seen to this was in Ireland.
If you're the kind of person who normally gets seasonal flu vaccines but didn't because there has been so much to think about the last few months, MAKE THE APPOINTMENT NOW! Especially if you have school age kids. One of mine brought it home and they have been sick for a week. Now I'm sick too. I felt this bad when I had Covid a few years ago, and when the kids brought home hand foot and mouth, but neither had me feeling so bad for so long. Save yourself!
Hey all, I have a friend with a birthday coming up. They’d like to find a quiet spot to enjoy nature and have a little trip 🍄 with all due respect, of course. Not looking to disturb anyone. We’d love to find a place in the woods, near a body of water, etc. where we can just escape reality for a bit.
Any recommendations? We were considering the waterfall up in Brinnon, but I think we’d probably freeze this time of year.
Just wanted to shout out a very cool local nonprofit that I think isn't very well known. It's called Enterprise for Equity. https://enterpriseforequity.org/
They run 100% free (grant-funded, I believe) programs and training sessions to help people of all backgrounds (and particularly low-income folks) start their own businesses. I believe a lot of the programs are pretty intensive/require a commitment, but they are free and I have heard great things.
Separately, if you're not ready to commit to a big program, I know ORIA, a WA government program, helps new entrepreneurs navigate things like business licensing, regulations, etc. https://www.oria.wa.gov/site/alias__oria/368/Home.aspx

Do yall know if anyone in town makes these? Preferably at an actual bakery and not Walmart or something. Wagner's and Left Bank do not have Coconut flavor and I am on a mission!
8:45am spotted a grey pitbull with neon green collar near Mitchell Ave NE and Chambers st. NE.
May have to drive down to the Centrailia area. Does anyone know what are the roads like are like out there?
My wife and I are on a kick of trying to find the best hidden gems in and around Oly for restaurants. We're talking places that aren't as well known, whether due to their location, being new, etc., that are 100% worth trying! Extra credit for budget friendly options that still have great food and don't nickel and dime you and add up to being the same price as everywhere else.
All recommendations welcome! We are particularly fond of burgers, Mexican/TexMex, solid comfort food, and good sandwiches, but my no means limit your recommendations to those.
Thank you!
We'll have more on this dramatic story as it unfolds.
I know it's February, but I'm finally taking down the Christmas tree and wanted to know if anyone wants it for their animals before I dispose of it.
Cheers
Decent budget friendly suit rentals in Thurston county? I see a lot of $250 per suit, is that really the norm for a rental? Need some for groomsmen and haven’t done it before so I’m not sure what’s a good deal/normal. Thanks for any info!
Is anyone able to provide an update on what the snow is looking like on the streets of downtown olympia right now?
They'll be joined by hemlock and local love comes from Remainders. Tickets available at www.purplepass.com/theslapsinoly
Recently divorced and working on picking up some new activities around town. I would love to start climbing at Cirque and was wondering if anyone needed a climbing friend? I'm mostly interested in the bouldering wall and have only gone once a few years ago.
If anyone knows of a good community to join as well that would be awesome!
We are an inclusive rugby club serving the south sound area.
Never played? Thats okay! We will teach you.
Not in “shape”? Girl. Same. That’s why we practice.
Too “old”? As if. We have players on their 40s.
Social anxiety? That’s okay too. Just DM me and I can be your buddy so you know someone.
DM me for any questions and we hope to see you out this week!
