A place for lovers of old-time music.
A place for lovers of American Old-Time music.
Old Time is a specific genre and not just old music.
It generally refers to the dance music and songs that came from the European/African immigrant musicians living in the Southern Appalachians and Ozarks and less commonly other areas around the country. Typically involves a fiddle, banjo, guitars, or just solo ballad singing.
Feel free to post anything old time related especially audio/video of you playing.

This is a country blues original I recently recorded, called "Appaloosa Blues". Hope you enjoy it! For similar blues, folk, and roots music, you can visit my YouTube channel here: https://youtube.com/@roughguessmusic
I'm looking for some dark & spooky old-time folk and blues songs. Murder ballads are alright, but I'm looking more for ghost story songs--spirits, haints, and boogers of all kinds. Thanks in advance!
For A mojor tunes I will tune to cross A . Or calico of it's a calico tune. Some A modely tunes I prefer out of standard but cross often works too...
But D tunes, sometimes I'll go up to high base but as often as not I'll just play out of standard, Its nice having the low A but , I get lazy.
Do y'all retune for D tunes or stay in standard ? I feel like most D tunes can work just as well out of standard
