Once upon a time anime could only be found on VHS and conventions were a lot smaller. Once upon a time Cosplay was new and differentiated from regular Costuming. Once upon a time we watched whatever we got our hands on, good or bad, because that was all we could fine. The struggle was real.

This is a place to talk about anime from before digital accessibility. The fuzzy-line is somewhere around 2003 but the hardline will be 2008 as that's around when DVDs started becoming affordable and you could start finding whole seasons on store shelves. Let's talk about life pre-YouTube, pre-Torrent, and for those of you who are "Really Oldtaku," pre-Pokemon.
