Anyone know of any good bow fishing spots in the metro area! Will be fishing from the bank! Any good rivers or lakes that are hot spots right now?
Thinking about grabbing a cabin at the Beavers Bend State Park in March and just wanted to see what others thought of the park & what the weather typically is that time of the year.
I have read the Google reviews on the park & impressed that someone with the park is actually responding to reviews.
With the cost of fuel, gas and diesel, still on the rise, the topic of how much are you willing to spend to get to where you're going for rodeos, playdays, barrel races, camping, boating, hiking, and trail riding, is being brought up on Facebook groups I am a part of.
This article is from Sept 2021. With the recent scandal over Swadley's Foggy Bottom Restaurant (A cool 13 million dollars were misappropriated and there are concerns that this isn't the only grift/misspending occuring) at Broken Bow Lake, and the rising cost of travel, coupled with being nickel and dimed to park and use the lake, boat ramps, or trails for a day or even a few hours - how much travel to our state parks will be done this season?
The parking pass program has brought in $78 million LESS than anticipated (Parking Pass Program Failure?), and one official (in the article) states that perhaps they were oversold on the concept. He also brings into question why, if the parks say they're hurting so badly, are parks like Robber's Cave collecting funds but not using them? Improvements have been made there but IIRC, that was before this article was published in Sept, 21.
How do you feel about this seasons camping/recreational prospects at our lakes and parks? Are you more likely to stay local? Not go at all? What's the pulse like out there?
Dove season is close and coming in fast, who is Dove hunting around OKC ?
Howdy, heading over to OK this weekend for some (^(sadly rainy)) camping.
Where do you know of that I can grab some good ol' wood?
Ok so I posted recently looking for guided fishing recommendations, but it turns out my father-in-law was looking forward to just chilling while shore fishing and "losing some bait to a lake."
So here we are again. He'll be here in a couple of weeks. Where is somewhere nice and nearish Tulsa where I can take him to have a chance to hopefully do something more than lose bait. He clearly just wants to go pretty casual.
I am not sure if it is completely Paddlefish season yet (I am clueless, I just like fishing sometimes). I live in Tulsa and was looking to take my father-in-law on a paddlefish trip sometime in the next fews weeks. Does anyone have any experience with any Charter/Guide companies there are hopefully within a 45 min drive-ish.
I saw this guy, but not sure how "legit" he is. Again, I'm clueless, thanks for the help!
I’ve gone to dirty bird a few times now and have been skunked every time. Anyone know how to fish Thunderbird for sandies and crappie? Any suggestions on locations/baits/techniques would be helpful. Thanks!
I don’t want one for a primary since I already have a good rod, but I’m looking for something to keep in the truck just in case I feel like taking a random fishing trip while I’m out and about.
I would appreciate a few recommendations.
So I take a lot of trips to state parks and such for photography and videography. But I’m wanting to get off the beaten path and explore. I have a crew cab Silverado z71 that is stock. Do you guys and gals have any recommendations on trails I could go on to explore and photograph?
Has anybody here done the 52 hike challenge? If so, did you stay within Oklahoma, or find yourself driving out of state due to our relatively thin hiking offerings? Are there any trails out there apart from state parks and the Wichitas that would be a good addition to a full year's worth of hiking in the state?
