Q3 facial interface broken, will Meta replace that or want the whole HMD sent it?

Common sense would suggest they either request the interface alone be sent in, or even just send out a new one. Anyone have experience with this please? Will they want the entire thing which is of course a huge hassle.

Basically the adjustment has broken, I like it one notch above minimum, but with the slightest pressure it gives in and clicks to the closest notch.

    Thanks.

    Glasses with quest 3?

Anyone who uses prescription lenses, do they help significantly?

Also first time user, I can hardly read the words on the basic main menu, is this an everyone problem or are script lenses helpful towards this?

Using LINK CABLE, I'd like to see my mouse and keyboard (passthrough?)

I'd love it if anyone has an idea/solution for how to activate the cameras (or remove the virtual environment) while using the cable connection to view my desktop...

... exactly as it works when connecting wirelessly...

... as a means to be able to see my mouse and keyboard (and the room I'm in) while editing in Adobe Premiere (for instance).

The wireless connection is simply not fast enough for a smooth work environment while at 4K resolution, but I can see the input devices. The wired connection is fantastic, but I can't see my input devices.

Ultimately, I'd like a nice, big PC desktop surrounded by the camera passthrough. As if a giant monitor was hovering before my eyes.

I've looked quite a bit and am prepared to be disappointed, but figured I'd ask before returning the unit.

    Thanks in advance.

Yet another: Retropolis 2 is on Quest 2 and 3 but not Quest Pro. Devs must be forgetting that headset exists due to the abysmal sales.

SO glad I ditched my Quest Pro the day the Quest 3 came out. Not one regret!

Are claimed games from the MetaQuest+ base catalog permanent?

E.g. „Walkabout Minigolf“ and „Red Matter“: once these games get removed from the base catalog, will they remain available in our MetaQuest+ subscription if we had claimed these games back when they were part of the base catalog?

    Recommendations for Looting Games

    Hello all,

I'm a 38 yo F mom of two who enjoys my quest 3. I'm a hoarder/looting sort of gamer. I'll put up with a little combat to get that. Any ideas on games? I love the quest 3 but I've been disappointed in the lack of games so far. I hope that will change in the next few years.

I've done Asgard's Wrath 2, TWDS&S, Raccoon Island, Morel's Farming Simulator (but it felt kind of "empty" to me). I couldn't ever get the mechanics down for Township Tale and have played through Hexaverse several times. I've played Cave Digger 1 (felt unfinished or "empty?") and Cave Digger 2 was so glitchy. Terrible. I tried the demo of Into the Radius but it was so involved and kind of too creepy? I've done Medieval Dynasty, but it got kind of repetitive after a while. I've done Harvest, but there isn't much to do after an hour or two. I've also done several fishing games.

I've played many other games, but those are the best looting games I've found. I wish there was a metal detector game.

Anything you recommend that I haven't tried already?

    Thanks all!

Apps being unavailable but they are supposed to be available

This is a very weird problem I have, and Meta Support's response can be summarized as "you're on your own" I tried to buy the game "Ragnarock" for my Quest 2, but it kept saying that app is unavailable in my region. I even made a brand new account that isn't connected to any accounts I have used before, and yet it still thinks I'm in Mars or something as many of the apps I want are suddenly "unavailable". I had to contact the developers to get a key, THEN use it to add it to my account. This enables me to install the game through the headset, but not through my phone or desktop app. (DLCs are not affected -- it just lets me buy them, even though it would be useless if the game wasn't provided by the devs) Meta Support simply closed my ticket saying "it works on our end lol shrug emoji" despite me showing a screen recording of the entire thing. No VPN, no proxies, account was created with my real name and not a nickname, my own CC is registered, and I am indeed in Korea. What rhe hell? (Keep in mind: Ragnarock is 100% authorized for sale in Korea, verified through the government agency AND the developers) Oh and another one, Steam Link is somehow unavailable in Korea, but only for me, I guess? It even appears in the store when I search it, but it tells me to contact support when I open the page. Any ideas on why this is happening, and how I could potentially fix it? Thanks in advance.

    Buying a used Quest 2

So I was thinking of picking up a lightly used Quest 2 so my son and I can play together. Many of the listings say “comes with games”.

I thought when I factory reset the headset and sign in with my Meta account it will show the games that I purchased available to download?

How would games pre-loaded on the headset help me? Would they all get overwritten in the factory reset?

Quest 3. Ir camera conversion to RGB for passthrough?

Hello there, Ive been steadily looking for, and I to InfraRed illumination, for better tracking.

I have had the pleasure to test the quest 2 and quest 3 separately, and I've found that, Atleast for me, IR does not show up in the spectrum visible to the passthrough mode, and I believe that's intentional.

My question is, would it be possible (hypothetically) to mod on a separate IR camera/camera which can see IR and display it or access the onboard IR tracking camera, and use that to show or in passthrough?

This is of course just hypothetical, but I'd like to see someone mod their quest for it :D, I'd dig being able to use my Q3 as optional night vision goggles

Audio only works once per headset power cycle - Quest 2 Link (wired)

See title. Upon pulling the plug and thus disconnecting, zero PC audio will be forwarded to the headset.

Graphics driver, Quest PC app, and headset are all up to date (and yes, audio output on PC is set to the headset). I really don't feel like having to restart the headset every time I pull the plug.

    Ultimate Swing Golf first impressions

I really enjoyed the Clap Hanz golf games on the PSP and PS Vita handhelds many years ago. There was an addictive quality to those games that made me play them over and over again. While I am really impressed with Golf+ for some reason I have not stuck much with that game since they removed the ”Pro Putt” mode that was the game play of original version; I mostly play Walkabout Minigolf for my golf fix.

Given this, it was an easy decision to try out Ultimate Swing Golf. Happily, it very much feels like a great VR version of the handheld console classics. The physics seem fairly realistic in an arcade-like way and the graphics are lovely. All the game modes you would expect are there and seem solid. I played one online match against random players and everything worked perfectly and fluidly. You get all the slightly cartoony features you would expect; one feature I love is the reactive crowd which jump out of the way of errant shots and gleefully cheer when you raise your club. There is some customization of your avatar (an in-game one; not a Meta avatar) as well as selection of different rather chatty caddies and their outfits (fortunately my understanding is there is a switch to silence the caddies). There are even a couple of decent MR mini-games. This is really lovely for an initial version and I would certainly recommend it if you want a casual full swing golf game. If you already own Golf+, you may still enjoy adding this to your collection.

One feature I would love to see is a way to replay videos of your last shot.

PS - DM me if you are looking for a referral code.

    v65 dark passtrought!

I just updated to v65 and the brightness dropped a lot in passthrough, and the contrast dropped too! now it's really bad to play, it has lost all the brightness in mixed reality and also the color contrast! It's depressing!

it's true I can read notifications on my smartphone better now, but if I'm playing mixed reality with my Quest 3 the most important thing is to play well with bright colors, and not with these dead colors! I'm not interested in being able to read the smartphone, I'm interested in being able to play well!

and this update has significantly worsened the gaming experience in mixed reality it has made all the colors dead! the environment is so dark! even if I put the brightness at 100% it is still very dark!

I believe that meta should give users the possibility to adjust the brightness and contrast of the passthrough as the user wishes, or at least give two or three settings to choose from!

and not that Meta chooses for everyone, because not everyone has the same tastes! But beyond personal taste, undoubtedly playing is worse now, you can only read the smartphone better, I invite those who think like you to write a letter to Meta to report this thing through the error reporting of the viewer, so that in the future they may give us the possibility to choose to increase or not increase the brightness as it was before!

    Minimum Play area

Hello, my available play area is a 1.92 m (6.30 feet) and 1.35 m (4.40 feet) rectangle. Do you think it's good as a play area or is it too small? Also, should I put the longest part or the smallest part as a frontal view?

I have downloaded virtualdesk, but when I try to play a game the game projects in my monitor instead of my headset. Also the sound cuts in and out when playing a vr game. The music could be playing then it stops and goes and process repeats. Its like when someone repeatedly resume and pause a video. Please Help I have wifi6. Intel i5 1660 Gtx gpu amd ryzen 5 3600

    removing the battery?

has anyone tried removing the quest 3 stock battery and replacing it with a much smaller lighter one that way the headset weight can be more evenly distributed with a headstrap battery? im not too concerned about battery life getting really low on stock compared to making the headset more comfortable as its a bit heavy on the face and causes some pain after sustained use, if i end up getting a battery strap anyway this seems like it would be a convenient modification

    drilling air holes (quest 3)

ok so i had another account that got banned for other reasons and i had posted this question on there but got lots of people saying the air flow would be ineffective as its designed for a tight space but im kinda confused.

in the ifixit teardown it was found that almost no air makes it out of the vent areas and that actually most heat dissipated just gets through the outter plastic which obviously is inconvenient since its heating the headset directly instead of really utilizing air flow. ive seen mods where people drilled their quest 2 to have air holes and had massive cooling gains and im curious if anyone has any knowledge on why that would be different for the quest 3

it gets uncomfortably warm to the touch and luckily that doesn't end up affecting gameplay but it would be satisfying to make that less of an issue with some airholes and dust filters to protect those holes, especially since i already plan to mod my quest with eye and mouth tracking anyway so this just feels like an extra little project, is there any reason this would actually be a bad idea last people being concerned about dust(i can clean the headset myself i work with tech a lot already and do not mind cleaning it occasionally for potential cooling benefits)

Brazen Blaze: It’s like smoking a little too much weed

I’ve been playing some VR games lately to take the stress out of my life (in my 30s, you know - finances, family drama, and all that), and I stumbled across this game due to their relentless ads. Luckily, they’re on Open Beta - and I could play almost immediately. So, here’s an incredibly honest take on the game.

I have a half-full box of pizza just lying on my bedside table waiting for me to devour it - but I just can’t. I feel like a projectile vomit a la Family Guy will just come out of my mouth even just thinking about it. After taking off my headset, I just felt so disoriented. I know all about the “new VR gamer” kind of nausea, but this is different.

HOWEVER, I just witnessed a “Goku vs. Vegeta” kind-of-fight in front of me. A true-blue anime fight. There’s this character, or “Runner,” as the game calls it - named Riot. I just saw this “Riot” take on my ally “Skybolt” - both of which are incredible VR gamers, I should say. They’re like dashing around the air, one shooting at another, the other just zipping around, trying to find the best time to close in on one to punch the hell out of. With buildings exploding left and right - I just stood there on the street watching them like a child who first witnessed Dragon Ball Z - just jaw-dropping action.

The match ended with our team losing, of course. Lucky for the enemies, they didn’t have a “Legacy” who just stood around watching the mayhem unfold. Sorry team.

Instead of being disheartened - I felt like playing more. I want to be like THAT Riot or Skybolt. I wanna see myself on one end of that fight - I don’t care if I’m on the losing side. It would be so badass to see myself becoming part of those fights someday.

Now, I’m just charging my headset - and myself. Gotta take some Advil or something - and hope to god that I don’t waste my Pizza either waiting for myself to go back to normalcy or playing Brazen Blaze for far too long I’ll just ignore it.

Maybe play with me or something?
