OBLIVION SONG Comic Book from Image Comics and Skybound. This is a discussion group where we talk about each issue.
A decade ago, 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them, but after many years, they gave up. Nathan Cole...won't. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those still living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe...Nathan is looking for something else? Why can't he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?

The movie was a long time coming
The white and red cover looks tooooooo good!
Anyone know if we will get a compendium of Oblivion song?
Just picked up books 1 & 2 and I am hooked!!
Anyone know when book 3 is planned to release?
So according to the man himself in the letter hacks these next 3 issues are big ones.
The last 26 issues have really done a good job building an interesting world with intriguing characters but we really haven't had a big moment. At least not one that would shift the paradigm so to speak.
What i mean to say it i cant f*ckin wait for that first big character death that just hurts to read, or the moment that just feels like the story has been flipped on its head (im thinking about the first introduction to the whisperers in WD). Its really exciting to know we're finally there getting into the meat of this story.
So what are everyone's thoughts leading up to these next few issues?
This arc has me invested in the overall hierarchy of the Kuthaal. The Ghozan seem to be of an upper class in the scheme of things, so it makes my mind wonder what Dakuul has done to earn him a place in the “forgotten lands.” Was it simply because he was not of the best Ghozan? I’m sure Kirkman won’t disappoint in the Dakuul backstory, but any thoughts or theories?
So I really like that finally we’re communicating with the extra dimensional beings, but it’s weird to me that this isn’t a bigger deal on the human side. Does the government outside of director Ward not really understand what’s going on? You would think they would have ridiculous funding and security and people sent specially to communicate like the situation in the movie arrival. Since this is the first alien intelligent life and we know they have new technology.
Still this is making the comic so much more interesting in my opinion. The mystery unfolding of what these beings really are and how they function differently than we do in Oblivion is now what makes me eager for each new issue.
Who would you cast in the possible universal movie? Realistically, though. Not just A list picks all around.
One of the things I like about this comic is that the characters look realistically unattractive. This would be unlikely to be true of a Hollywood movie.
I get serious willam dafoe vibes from images of Ed but I don’t know if I would like him for the role.
I could throw a few names at the wall but I’d rather see what you guys think first
Took this from an earlier post...
Im a little confused by the ending.
"Nathan and Ed are in Oblivion. Nathan hits Ed with the dart to send him back to Earth (Ed sees a helicopter flying overhead). Nathan fires up the transference machine so now he and Ed switch places and Ed is back in Oblivion.
If Nathan is going to let Ed stay in Oblivion, why not just let him leave ? These extra jumps seemed unnecessary. Also, why stick him with the dart? Just have both of them jump back to Earth and Nathan can send Ed back to Oblivion. Is this because darts are only one way (Oblivion to Earth)?"
What an amazing chapter, I'm really loving this faceless men plot twist and how it developing. Now we have both brothers in oblivion looking for the faceless men and their respective people. One with a batman panel overlooking the aliens and the other about to mount those void creatures from ben ten. Even the emotional beats of them visiting the "WALL" were amazing. The art, oh lord don't even get me started on this amazing art. My only gripe with this series is I must wait monthly for it knowing that the other chapter have already when completed. I'm a manga fan but Kirkman always pulls me to the dark side with his work. At the base and in oblivion I kept imaging this as an Amazon live action series lol. This is all of the the place cause I'm so hyped, forgive any typos.
Hi everyone, I just finished the first Oblivion Song volume and as a native Philadelphian I have some geography questions. Based on the artwork it looks like the entirety of downtown Philadelphia (colloquially known as "Center City") was transferred. The expanse beyond the Ben Franklin bridge would imply that parts of South Jersey were transferred as well (no big loss there). However, there are some shots in the "real world" that would be contrary to this notion, for example, Jefferson Hospital remaining intact. Unless the transference was somewhat patchwork, I don't think it works out. Or is it more of a "Stranger Things" like dynamic where there is a light/dark version of each area (which I assumed based on Jefferson being OK but the rest of Center City was toast). Any map or explanation?
The new issue is out! What does everyone think of the conclusion to the second story arc?
… because I just found to what he did and what is in the storage unit!
Every freaking issue I get more and more impressed with the artwork! I'm happy Nathan can finally accept letting Ed live in Oblivion, even though I don't agree with out Ed went about proving his point. I'm also pretty happy we got to learn a little more about the creatures like the teeth aren't really sharp and it's hard to hit vital organs. Overall really good and I'm excited for the next issue!
P.s. is anyone else looking for any signs of the faceless men? Next issue is going to be 24 pages so hope we learn something about them.
Let’s follow up the best heist in comic book history!!!
Hands down the best issue of oblivion song yet. Got to see in real-time what happens during the transference and also saw a lot of Edwards true colors in this one too. I’m predicting that the other dimension has something that can save him though.
So much character development here in this one and setting so many story arch’s up.
Hey guys! Didnt see another post about it so I took the initiative. LETS DISCUSS THE BEST HEIST IN COMIC HISTORY!
Holy shit this story awesome! I can't wait for Chapter Two to drop.
What are some other graphic novels you've recently read, currently reading or planning to read?
I need me some good recommendations to hold me over.
Did not see that coming but issue #8 cover makes more sense now- poor Ed got left in the city lol
Any new thoughts/ theories? I'm very curious about the photo on #7. Pretty sure Duncan is in the photo?
