I watched this show as a kid and loved it, but I’m rewatching it now, and one thing is really standing out to me: the male connection.
The candor within their conversations is so refreshing. I think it’s rare to see men portrayed as vulnerable or sincere, and this show is nailing this. All the different versions of masculinity, from Don to Larry, and seeing the respect and love they can all openly have for one another is so wonderful to see on screen.
The episode when Colby accidentally kills someone in the FBI office shooting stands out. At the end he and David are drinking beers on a tailgate and it is such a healthy show of support and camaraderie. Even a “macho” character like Colby is portrayed as being vulnerable and needing support. And David is simply present to his colleague’s pain. An amazing example of how to handle grief and show support for someone in need—simply be there.
I also love how the Eppes family is with one another. The men are open and engaged in difficult conversations. They listen with empathy to each other, are present but not pushy, they fight when they need to, forgive quickly, and know when it is time to put a subject down and simply eat some dinner.
I am pregnant with my first, and it is a boy. I’ve been nervous about raising a son in today’s hyper-segmented internet milieu; worried about how my husband and I will need to be to help raise a kind, empathetic, intuitive young man who cares deeply about life and others… and truthfully this family is giving me hope.
Really the take away from the show, for me, has been: be willing to be there. Be there for your family and your friends. You don’t need answers or solutions, you just need to be willing to sit alongside and listen.
Anyways, personal musings aside, I am shocked by how healthy the masculinity is in this show. It’s refreshing! I wasn’t expecting this from a 2000s crime drama.
Hi,
I have a question for real Numb3rs fans.
In which episode there is a scene of a man and woman jogging at Santa Monica pier, stopping and having a short chat?
Anyone knows in what episode that scene was?
I really wanted to watch this show but I can’t find It anywhere, somebody help.
Everything I've seen her in she is a terrible actress and I cringe everytime she speaks or reacts to something. She portrays Megan Reeves. She has been in Fire Country and she's even worse in that, I have no idea who casted her but they shouldn't have been in charge of casting lol
Figured if there was a group of people who would appreciate this, it would be Numb3rs fans!
I notice some of the scenes are filmed in how we see reality tv shows today ? I find that some of the scenes aren’t really produced in the same style of today shows. Some scenes are them in the water and a live show in the water with water on the lens of the camera. Very different.
Not sure if anyone here watches For All Mankind on AppleTV. But I finally figured out what the JSC building exterior and lobby interior reminded me of. It is the exact same exterior and lobby that was used for the LA FBI office in Numb3rs. Small world.
Does anyone remember what the episode was where Charlie reads keystrokes based on the unique sound each keystroke makes
Hi everyone! Coming here for some extra help. My mom and I love Numb3rs. She's been getting back into watching it every day and said to me that she's dying to have some of the little objects and gadgets that Charlie has on his desk. I'm not 100% sure which ones she's referring to since it's been a bit since I've binged the show. Can anyone help identify any of these objects? I want to get her something fun for Christmas. Thanks to everyone in advance!
I HAD TO SCREAM WHEN I IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED HIM, I WOULD'VE NEVER GUESSED HE'D BE HERE
Can you spot Colby????
Btw does anyone else just love hell's kitchen
I was always so pissed about the fact that we didn't get to see Donny get married to Robin, but now that I think about it, it wouldn't have felt right somehow. Just not fitting his character in a way, and because it wasn't necessarily the most important part in his storyline. What do you think? Should we have seen it?
Not sure if I’m exceptional but I was listening to the radio the other day. An ad for Chevrolet came on and I was like that has to be Colby grangers voice. Sure enough I checked and it was.
Is it sad or cool that I’m able to know things like that. I’ll never know. Haha
Hi everyone!
Does anybody know where I could watch the show with a Latin American spanish dub? All I can find is english language dub.
Thanks.
There was a Numb3rs reunion picket today at Paramount Studios. Lots of cast, crew and producers there. A great time was had by all, despite the heat.
This is my first time ever watching the show ans I've just finished the pilot episode. There's one thing I don't get or maybe ai've misunderstood? If the killer had been arrested before why would his DNA not already be on file?
20% of the population has detectable anisocoria. David Bowie had it prominently like Judd Hirsch, one pupil more dilated than the other. David Bowie attributed his anisocoria to a fight he had with a roady at some point.
I just recently noticed Hisch's/Alan Eppes difference in pupil size. I don't know a real life explanation for Hirsch's pupils or a Numb3rs explanation for Alan's.
At the end of the episode the Eppes are hanging out late at night. They have a conversation about Don's recent break up. Then Alan says Lets watch TV. The classics come on this time of night. Charlie says I'll make popcorn. Alan turns on the TV and the theme from 'Taxi' is playing as scene ends.
Now I'll be watching for other Easter Eggs.
Pandemic FLU! This was prior to the swine flu in 2009 but maybe close to the avian bird flu outbreak on 2003. So weird to think about it now post covid. It tells me that the methods of research where there but for whatever reason our system was not prepared to handle a pandemic. Crazy!
I mean 500 members for a show that Is genuinely pretty good for the genre it falls In.
I see it talked about every now and then but still there’s only 500 members?
A real shame.
Just found numb3rs and watching for the first time....some legit great punch lines and am loving it! I've only found it on feevee and HATE the commercials! So far my fav characters are Larry and Charlie 😁
“So the old FISH system is inefficient, but it kicked out a name - Lawrence Pike.”
Two subtle puns in one line. Nice.
I have rewatched this show more times then I can count. It had its ups and downs but the dynamic between Charlie, Don and Allen was amazing and Krumholz, Morrow and Hirsch were amazing choices you really can believe the are family.
Hi, does anyone here have a copy of the Numb3rs fanfic "Unsigned, unfinished and unknown"? It used to be on livejournal but it got deleted and disapeared from the Internet.
Just for information, binge watched it over Amazon Prime UK via FreeVee .
I had fond memories of this show from when it was broadcast originally, but never saw all of it.
I found the story of Larry particularly interesting, and also kind of sad. A man who almost kind of reaches some form of enlightenment about human nature.
I feel that where they ended it was very much cut short. It could have been interesting playing out another 8 episodes of season 6 to bring the show to a proper close.
We should have had an episode or even two in the UK following charlie and amitas term at Cambridge University, then their return to LA.
I get the sense that the writers were angling towards Don getting tired of being at the FBI like that.
A finale I would have liked to see is Don taking a new job at quantico or in DC following Sinclair, and Charlie and Amita getting invites to be visiting professors at multiple uni's around the world that will take them well over a year to do.
Maybe Granger becomes supervisor in LA, and the physics guy takes over as the LA office math advisor.
S1E8, Identity Crises. Most of Charlie’s math theory is way above my head, so when occasionally he says something like, “If I fold this sheet of paper in half 50 times, how tall would it be?”, I find myself actually verifying that (2^50) * 0.08mm is in fact far enough to reach the sun. I got roughly 111M miles.

I'm OK with janky free apps for binging my favorite shows, but Pluto is horrible. If it didn't mean having to buy all 6 seasons, I would rather pay to buy it on iTunes or Prime Video than have to deal with this miserable app and the endless commercials for Pluto's own library of shows not even remotely related to Numb3rs (The Family Ties channel, really?).
