/r/noveltranslations
A community for people who cannot read but join together to read the same 5 translated webnovels over and over again in an attempt to decode the mysteries of written language.
Note: This is a moderated subreddit. Please read the rules before posting. All new posts will require manual approval from the mod team.
1. Discussion is the goal - All posts must be directly novel related, informative, and discussion focused. This can be about a scene from a web novel you particularly liked/disliked, the novel as a whole, or issues related to the community.
2. Recommendation Requests - Requests for personalized recommendations or suggestions are not allowed. Post instead to our Weekly Recommendation Thread (stickied at the top of the 'HOT' page and also accessible through the subreddit's nav menu or through the buttons on the sidebar widget )
Posts asking users to list their favorite/the best book of a genre, style, etc that don't include an answer and why in the body will be assumed to be recommendation requests and removed.
3. Don't be an asshole - We understand that many of you are angry about your generally pathetic lives. Do not bring that into the subreddit or the community. Do not enter a discussion with the intent to "prove" that you are the superior being. None of you are. Just be chill.
4. Toxic Reader Behavior - The wonderful web novels that we talk about and share with each other here are translated and produced through the hard work of REAL PEOPLE. The translators and editors who work on these novels spend hours of the their free time translating these novels for you guys. Do not be assholes, or we won't have any novels to read.
Comments like: "Translation too slow" when chapters release several times a week or "I only read after 200+ chapters" will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned.
5. No Platform-based Hate. - This subreddit is for discussion on web novels and their intrinsic qualities. Not about the platform they are posted on, the various business dealings of the players in the industry or any thing of that nature. How other people conduct their business and relationships is of no consequence here. Do not attempt to create drama regarding platforms. Do not promote hate for a novel based on where it's published.
One warning. Any violations of this rule after that will result in a ban.
6. Do Not Post Links To Aggregators - Many of the web novels here are made freely available to everyone to read. Aggregators steal free content to make advertising revenue. Do not send people to read on an aggregator website. Do not recommend an aggregator website. Use NovelUpdates to find the official source for any web novel.
Should the novel be paywalled, do not recommend an aggregator. We do not stand for or encourage piracy on this subreddit.
This is a zero tolerance rule. All offenders will be banned. No ignorance excuse.
7. Spoilers - If you do not mark your post or comment as having spoilers it will be removed. Any posts with a spoiler in the title will be removed.
Spoiler tags in comments are done like the example below if you are using markdown or use the built-in spoiler tags on the redesign.
How to spoiler tag: >(#)!spoiler here!(#)< remove the (#) and this appears as <!spoiler here!>.
8. Inappropriate Content - This isn't a NSFW subreddit. Don't post that stuff here. Posts will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banne

I lied. I know exactly who needs to hear this. Aspiring authors. Those that want to make it in this great, but torturous field. If you just want to write for fun, this isn't for you. If you want to make money, to be successful in this field, to be named amongst someone's favorite authors (other than mom, of course. She'll always be your biggest fan <3), then read on.
I've been there. I've wanted to hold onto my baby and not let a single greedy bastard get their clutches on it. But it wasn't worth it.
I wasted three years, buried myself with college debt as a "back up plan", when I should have just done what someone in any other job does: Start from the bottom and work your way up and prove your value until you can demand what you actually want.
And the funny thing? I never actually signed away my IP rights. I just thought I had and yet still didn't care.
For context, I'm an author on webnovel. There's a lot of misinformation about their contract floating around, many of which I once took seriously, which is why I wasted those years in college. It's just that I came to the conclusion you can read in the title and took the plunge while I stood at a crossroads.
Those words were words I had to look into the mirror and tell myself.
To be clear, though, webnovel has a "No transfer of moral rights", clause 2.5 of their contract. What they actually have it a perpetual license, not IP rights, clause 2.1.
|| || |Clause 2.1|In consideration of the undertakings of Party A contained in this Agreement and subject to the payment by Party A of the remuneration to Party B pursuant to Clause 5 (Party B's Remuneration Composition), Party B hereby grants to Party A and its Affiliates, and Party A and its Affiliates accept, a worldwide, exclusive (to the exclusion of any and all third parties including Party B), perpetual, irrevocable, freely transferable and sublicensable license of the entire copyright subsisting in the Work, including, without limitation:... (lists a bunch of things including film, audio, comics, etc).| |Clause 2.5|Party B shall retain, and Party A shall not be entitled to, Party B's moral rights to the Work, including the right to object to derogatory treatment and the right to be identified as the author of the Work. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any exercise of moral rights to the Work by Party B shall not in any way interfere with or affect the exercise of any right by Party A pursuant to this Agreement.|
And one final clause: Based on the above, and for the protection of Party B's rights as the copyright holder and realization of the commercial value of Party B's work, Party A and Party B have entered into this Agreement after amicable negotiations subject to the following terms and conditions regarding collaboration in connection with Party B's work...
Party A: Webnovel; Party B: Author.
Meaning, they have rights to distribute your novel in all forms, assuming revenue share, into perpetuity. When I read the contract, I didn't understand the difference. I thought if they have a forever license, isn't it just the same as having IP anyway? But no. Without IP rights, wn can't take your novel and get someone else to write it, for example, like I've seen many claim before.
That has no factual basis.
Regardless, that isn't the main crux of this isn't a webnovel versus the world rant again. I just wanted to highlight the legal jargon I was reading and how my lack of understanding of it colored my perception about things... and why that didn't matter to me anyway.
What I realized back then was that my IP was only worth as much as the eyes I could get in front of my novel. Being scared of publishers or distributors is often warranted, many an author has gotten screwed. They have deals as bad as 7% on the publishing side of things, and they STILL expect you to do the marketing legwork.
In the end, I chose to take the "risk" because I had nothing to lose. I was stuck in a program I hated, but knew I would have to finish it if I didn't want to be homeless in the future. I was probably a split second decision away from being stuck behind a computer desk for the rest of my life... and actually not being able to wear my boxers as a fashion statement at the same time. Can you imagine the horror?
The irony is that all authors in that rut I had been in have nothing to lose. Could you be the next one in a million, long shot that skyrockets through the royalroad leaderboards and then sits atop daddy Bezos' nice list? Of course. But how likely is it?
This isn't even really about IP per se, honestly. As far as I'm aware, taking it isn't common practice in the webserial scene to begin with. This instead extends to all things in this business, because make no mistake... that's what it is. Whether it's turning your nose up at splits, or advanced payments, or if you've already taken that plunge and feel like you're getting screwed on the back end...
Use that as your motivation, use it as your drive. Take what money you can get, save it, use it to fuel your creativity, and then one day you'll hopefully be in a position where you can be the one to dictate things to the big wigs.
That's how every aspect of life works and authorship, even though we're creatives with bleeding hearts, is no different. Where there's money, there'll be greed. And where there's greed, there'll be sacrifice.
Ultimately, you have to make the choice for yourself if you're going to hope to strike gold and diamond, or if you'll take the long meandering path to the top.
There'll be people who don't like this, but after getting into a debate about it today, I feel like even if I couldn't get through to that person, I might get through to someone. Chasing dreams requires sacrifices. That's the bottom line.
The purpose of the thread is simple. We decide collectively if a novel is good or bad, that's it. You don't need to reason out why you think a novel is good or bad, no need to tease out the nuances, no deciphering the riddles of MTL to unearth profound truths. The rules are also simple.
EVERY COMMENT IN REPLY TO THIS SELF-POST MUST BE THE NAME OF A NOVEL! (Include the NovelUpdates link if you're feeling particularly helpful.)
EVERY COMMENT MADE IN REPLY TO A NAMED NOVEL MUST ONLY BE "GOOD" or "BAD". That's it. If you like the named novel, you reply with "GOOD". If you did not like it, you reply with "BAD".
ALL COMMENTS FEATURING ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE NAME OF A NOVEL, "GOOD", and "BAD" will be removed. This thread is intended to be a quick glance sorta thing and some mild entertainment. Hi, TanoshiKara here, it has been a while.
Update 5/11:
A big thank you to the people who shared the post!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween and enjoyed the event. As mentioned, the specified chapters have been taken down and will be reuploaded at the appropriate time.
It has been fixed, thank you to the person(s) who resolved the issue and thank you for your patience!
Trick-or-Treat! Halloween’s here and I have the perfect thing planned just for this! I have uploaded 6 chapters of “Let’s Dance with Ghost Stories, and You Dance on the Stairs”, written by that very “Ryuukishi07”, known for Higurashi and Umineko among other works, and illustrated by tomohi, the same illustrator for those works.
However, since it’s Halloween, you will have to play a little game. You have to pick between two options to progress to the next chapter. One will be the treat you are looking for and the other is merely a trick. I will, however, give you the link to Chapter 6, that is where it begins after all. These chapters will be available for 6 days and I will be taking all of them down, except for chapter 6, on 5 Nov 2024 at (UTC +0) 06:00. They will be reuploaded again when the appropriate time comes around (doing this as I want to further improve on their translations).
The translation for the Chapter 6 is already out and can be found here. I hope you will enjoy the game and the chapters!
Thank you for reading this post, feel free to comment or pm me if you have any questions or feedback. I wish you a Happy Halloween!

okay, so in many asian languages i know there are many ways for a speaker to indicate their own gender, the gender of the person they're speaking to, their relative social status, etc
as a consequence of this, i suppose, theres very little indication outside of dialogue about who is speaking
english doesnt have these indicators!
i dont know who tf is talking!!! tell me who js talking!! at least throw me a "soandso said". or a "he said" or "she said"
I am looking for the name of the novel where the son of a large family is secretly powerful trained in martial arts.
When his family is attacked, he reveals his power and defeated the enemies alongside a women reincarnator that is also part of his family.
The women reincarnator decides to teach and gift the main character techniques so that she can use him in the future. She recognized his talent.
I've been searching for it on webnovel, wuxiaworld, chatgpt for the past 3 days but still can't find it. I vaguely remember reading it on wuxiaworld but their system is so hard to navigate and seems to be missing a bunch of novels. Any ideas?
The mc is male and I think his mother has a pheonix bloodline and his father has a dragon bloodline and his evil dragon family relatives either switch his spirit root(and/or talent) with another relative or just straight stole it. The father is also imprisoned by dragon family or some royal family. Mc later awakens his moms side of his bloodline which makes him almost unkillable cause he nirvana rebirth when killed I think. I believe there are other divine beast bloodline families like the tortoise and tiger dont remember but he did attend a school and he ends up leading the school similar to nshba. Also when he nirvana rebirth i think his age gets younger everytime. Does anyone know the title of the novel I'm thinking of???
I remember the mc had terrible luck growing up. I think I remember it was cause a necklace his father gave him. Finally died in maybe a library fire or collapse. Transmigrated with luck powers. Might be a system. Pretty there’s gods and inheritable god seats. I think his powers came from the goddess of luck

The trash novels corrupted this daoists soul so he had to cast aside his impurities to ascend past this realm

So, a few years ago, I found a cultivation novel where the mc is in a world of vampires, he cultivates his inner qi but struggles to breakthrough to higher levels because his qi is super condensed and its hard for him to collect enough qi to ascend, but because of this he can punch above his cultivation level and he uses pistols to kill vampires and hunts them. I really wanna read it again but dont remember the name, can someone help me?
I remember some chapters where the earth which MC lives is part of a universe that also has stronger alien planets trying to occupy them but they have a deal that they need to deliver or send something to prevent colonization. The MC went to that other planet to experience it but had hardship because the aliens are stronger. He gets by selling herbs or potions i think which he can produce because he can plant in his spatial land or something.i think this happens in later chapters.
Trying to remember the name of a novel I read a while ago. The premise is, that the mc and others cultivate a second form which massivly grows with increased cultivation. It's set in a somewhat modern, if not scifi setting.
Hello! Sorry to bother you all, but for some reason, I can't find that webnovel..
It's a story about an entity that take over the body of a knight in training with a really bad reputation. He refer to the body he took as insert name-kun as if he was roleplaying. He's some kind of demon/god that can eat strong emotion like hartred. It start in some kind of school where he will steal the "rank" of knight of light or something like that. Has a female squire (who have to serve the aforementioned knight of light regardless of who it is) and do things to be hated by her.
Spoiler
End up fighting four disciple (from prior reincarnation) where one is a vampire.
Any idea?
I'm trying to find a novel where the mc gets a system where can has unlimited books inside his mind and at the beginning he was going to get called out on for cheating but instead exposes their scheme
Looking for the name of the novel ovel where the son of a large family is secretly very powerful in martial arts. The women reincarnator decides to teach and gift the main character techniques so that she can use him in the future. She recognized his talent. Looking for multiple novels really. One is about a university student who has to go through a family tradition of living without money or any help from the family or use his knowledge or skills he got growing up for a certain amount of years. I remember it was meant to be his sister that went through it but she either failed or didn't want to do it. After is girlfriend broke up with him or cheated on him he got a call from his family saying that he had passed and had access to everything
So all I remember is that the MC remembers some stuff since he was a kid, to not gat bullied he starts doing martial arts, he has a mother and a sister. After learning all the MA he goes to some other dimension and dominates it, later he comes back where he finds that his sister died but left a disciple and he helps them kill all against them and rules earth. Stopped reading it there.
I just remember reading a chinese novel where MC has no spiritual roots then came across two beauties trap in cave. Each one of them give MC spiritual roots. He became an excellent alchemist. It been so long I read this one. Thank you.
Specifically it is a cultivation novel about a mc who has a cheat that allows him to reincarnate continuously. From what i remember, the novel focuses on the class differences and suppression of the lower class. Mc's cheat is actually a top treasure that is needed to reach the final stage of cultivation, but the mc instead sacrifices the cheat at the end of novel to allow everyone to be able to reincarnate. Some details here may be wrong.
Hello, the novel i am looking for is really well know but i just cant remember at all the name, its about beast taming, i cant remember the beggining of the novel but deep into the novel MC goes to a battlefield as a doctor and combatant, he starts killing enemies and his pet has a skill that makes if i remember right roses with the enemies bodies or inheritances which are highly regarded and cost a lot but he is the only one that can do it, if i remember right he makes the roses with the cursed enemies.
Hope someone can tell me the name of novel, i am pretty sure is well know i just cant remember thans for the help
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to share my web novel, Celestial Descendant! It’s about a main character [who has yet to be named], who was born into a godless world by a wish from an outer god who took pity on the world. As they navigate a world of danger and ancient secrets, they slowly walk down the path of becoming the god of that world.
Why You Might Like It:
I’m posting new chapters, and I’d love for you to check it out! Here’s the link: https://www.webnovel.com/book/30928739108314605
Thanks for giving it a look! I’d really appreciate any feedback
the fl is an assassin transmigrated into ancient times where there’s an emperor and a jianghu setting (martial arts fantasy ig).
FIRST ARC
Second arc
one is that couples need to be able to differentiate between their real lover and puppets. So under a dark tunnel, fl and ml are dropped in random areas of the tunnel and be attacked by numerous puppets acting like their lover. the fl will be attacked by puppets acting like ml and vice versa (they will of course fight back) previous couples that were trapped in the wild tribe failed and died bc they either killed or got killed by their lover or puppet. (Puppets will look alike and sound the same as the couple) BUT of course ml and fl succeeded bc although they are not an actual couple they somehow are compatible comrades that have each others back and have the skills to stop a stabbing motion when faced with the actual person.
I rmbr there was a scene where the couple and their subordinates went to a restaurant in an isolated town. The restaurant served human meat dishes which fl could smell so she didn’t eat. Ml and another subordinate saw her not eating so they also didn’t eat, but a subordinate didn’t notice and ate the dishes, later vomitting when ml question her why she did not eat to which reply human meat.
the latest chapter I rmbr reading was of assassins (from the emperor?) pursuing the carriage of mls family and fl trying to kill off the assassins. while the carriage was getting pulled by the galloping horse, fl has to fight assassins while running to catch up with the carriage. Then mls family got to see fls amazing foot work and fighting skills.
if this sounds familiar to you and you recognise it, pls tell me <3 Just comment the raw title
So I found this book "Unbreakable Love: His Passion for Her Transcends Death" but I think it's a Chinese novel translated. Does anyone know the original Chinese name? I've also seen it under the name "When her death couldn't break him" with the same plot but different character names.
This the synopsis GoodNovel has about the book: It's close to impossible for a naturally disabled person to find love. Yvette Snyder was born weak of hearing; even her own mother detests her. After getting married, her affluent husband, Xavier Lane, and the people in his life mock and humiliate her. Then, her husband's ex-girlfriend comes back into his life and publicly announces that she wants to take back everything that should've been hers. She even goes so far as to stand before Yvette to say smugly, "I bet you won't know what it's like to be loved by someone-not in this lifetime. Has Xav ever told you he loves you? He used to say it to me all the time." Only then does Yvette realize how wrong she's been. But it's too late. Her love has gone down the drain; she shouldn't have married someone who doesn't love her. She decides to let go and return Xavier's freedom to him. But Xavier's the first to object. "If you want to get a divorce, you'll have to do it over my dead body!"
