hey there! i am a paying a notability user (and it works great at home). at school, we are required to use notability on school-issued ipad devices. they are on the notability education plan. usually this is perfectly fine. however, the learn feature is currently inaccessible on it. it would be most useful to have access to learn on that device as i can quickly study before quizzes. however, when trying to restore my plus subscription, it says that i am not allowed to make in-app purchases (presumably a school imposed restriction). i am not allowed to bring devices from home for usage. that is why i am suggesting one of two solutions:

1. add learn to the education plan

2. allow linking of notability plus to the notability account so that i can access my plus subscription, even without access to the restore purchase button

Is there any way to get around the limit? studying for finals and it’s been a life saver

It would be so good if we could add some type of margins. I switched to typing my notes to save time and the amount of times I need to press tab so theres a “margin” and its not straight on the edge of the page. Theres no way to do Cornell writing either, as you start with the body on the right and when you try to get back to add key points on the left it messes up the entire thing you wrote. Again the margins or better text boxes would be better here, since the text boxes do not line up with the template lines when I type at all. Please add this.

why when i type over an area that i've used the pencil on it before the text diminish i tried send to front option but it didnt do anything

I currently use Zotero to document my sources. I wish there was a solid way to have a reference feature in Notability. I would like it run a database and be able to change between different formats. I currently use APA.

I can't even reach support, because that seems to require that the app is functioning. Anyway, it broke after latest ipad update. Crashes at every attempt to start it. ;-(

Hi everyone, I recently started using Notability, and I really like it: the writing experience and the features I care about are perfect. However, I’ve read many posts describing problems with data loss, and this worries me a lot. Are there any precautions I can take to avoid losing my data? I’ve disabled iCloud sync and have my notes stored only on my iPad—could this be helpful?

The iCloud problem is really starting to bother me. There are so many people on Reddit experiencing the same problem every day, and it doesn’t seem like they’re doing anything about it. It keeps showing as “downloading” from iCloud but never actually finishes. I’ve spent three hours of my life and still haven’t been able to solve it. Despite the numerous posts about this, there doesn’t seem to be a solution. I’ve done everything mentioned on the support page, but nothing solves—I’m truly desperate. Every time I face the same problem and contact support, all they say is “we’re sorry” and send me the same support page link again.

I’d love it if notability documents could have a feature where theres a tab you can open to annotate next to a document—I do a lot of my readings on Notability which is nice for highlighting but I’d like to be able to type out notes on a side document/tab next to the reading instead of having to use a separate document. Thanks!

I’m new with notability and I faced this annoying problem which is I have to go online to open notability plus plan , Every time I go out offline and try to use notability It changes to starter plan ! And then I start looking for internet connection to use it in plus

Woke up to my entire notes collection loading. Checked my storage and everything looked good. Tried contacting notability and of course the help feature is buggy too. Great timing considering my finals start this week👎👎👎👎

I’m experiencing an iss-ue with the Notability app on my iPad (older version) whenever I open the app, it keeps loading endlessly and doesn’t respond. I have to restart my iPad multiple times before the app finally opens. After it does, it spends a long time syncing with iCloud, and the loading process slows everything down. I tried disconnecting iCloud from my iPad, selecting the "Keep a copy on the device" option. However, after disconnecting, all my notes were dele-ted from the app despite choosing to keep them locally.
I’m not planning to update the app. What could be causing this? How can I fix it without losing my notes or updating to a newer version of the app

The squeeze to erase function is great. Please make it customisable. I’d love to be able to ‘squeeze to highlight’ or ‘squeeze to tape’, etc.

So I made all my notes over the course of several years under one apple id (id 1) and one ipad, but I decided to make a new apple id (id 2) and transferred the ipad with the notes over. However, when I opened up the notability app again, there was uhhhh nothing. Help?? I don’t know if I ever turned on icloud sharing when I was on the previous apple id. I’m not really sure why it’s not there anymore in the first place- is it because I downloaded the app on id 1 so the data is linked to that?

Hey guys. I'm in sort of a predicament right now with finals coming up. I accidentally d3leted two notes and when recovered them (like I clicked on recover files) they weren't in my folder. I tried with the other files I d3leted in the past, but they're no longer there...? I was wondering if anybody is having the same problems?

Hello guys. I’m a long-time notability user and I’m here to complain about its worst icloud sync among all apps I’ve used. I tried goodnotes and notability and finally used notability most time because i like its UI and it has a much better experience in typing compared to goodnotes. but one thing is strange: after i opened the icloud sync everything just went disaster. Now I have to wait for a century before I can edit my note upon launch. and when i switch to other apps for 5 sec and switch back it restarts again. Honestly this is very awful. I have found that notability has the fastest sync speed among note apps, but it seems like they never storage any local files on my device recently. Does anyone meet same situation with me?

opened notability, all notes were for some reason redownloading, made a new note, was working fine, tried to open it again a few minutes later, no longer working. decided to update app and then delete app and redownload, dividers and subjects have loaded in, but no notes are loading in. still somehow have them on my desktop app. am very concerned and upset. been using since 2020 and this has never happened before. would appreciate any type of input

edit: okay, things are downloading. but with finals and so many projects due, i am really, really annoyed that this is happening to me.

I’m looking for a reliable alternative to the Apple Pencil that works well for handwriting notes and includes excellent palm rejection features. I just purchased Notability for their Black Friday promo and want something that provides a smooth and natural writing experience.

I previously had an Apple Pencil, but after not using it for about three months, it stopped taking a charge entirely. I’d like to avoid similar problems with a new stylus.

Could you recommend options that:

1. Have great handwriting precision and palm rejection?
2. Are compatible with iPad Pro 13inch (15th Gen)?
3. Have a reliable battery life and don’t degrade quickly if left unused?

If there are specific brands or models you’d suggest (or any to avoid), I’d appreciate your input!

how do you effectively use notability for college? i want to start but i noticed it seems harder to go and look back through notes compared to if it was a physical notepad. just curious on any tips and tricks for notability!

the apple gods have decided to screw me yet again less than 1 week before my NBEO part 2 exam. my apple pencil has stopped working (its connects, but is unresponsive) for the past 2 days. i have tried all the things, disconnecting and reconnecting, forgetting and repairing, restarting my iPad, etc etc and nothing worked. I just drove 1.5 hours to buy a new pencil and the issu* persisted, meaning my ipad is the problem (yay). I went to a Genius bar after chatting with apple and they ran diagnostics and told me nothing was wrong with my ipad. their only recommendation was to factory reset my ipad. if i backup my ipad and notes to icloud, will they come back??? i am terrified to lo*se all my notes as I have 3.5 years of optometry school on there.

I previously had an incident with notability where all my notes were delet*d and I had to re-download each individual note from my google drive. I have since went to icloud backups due to my ptsd of that experience (it took me MONTHS to get everything back)

has anyone had any experience with this?? did you get your notes back after resetting your iPad???? thanks in advance from an above avergely stressed out me :)

What happened to the paragraph spacing? Before, they were more compact and now they have wider spacing, messing up all my notes, and there is no way to reduce the spacing between lines, they are already at minimum in the configuration. Is anyone else having this problem?

Give me the previous icon back, please, which supported dark mode. I also don’t like the twinkle style of this experiment.

I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, a bug, or need to put in a feature request. With a PDF I can use the word highlight feature by holding down my highlighter on a word and it highlights the word, then I can drag the highlighter to the end point, and Notability then crisply highlights the words so nicely. Love this feature.

But I cannot do this for typed text. Is this a me problem, a Notability bug, or something I need to put in a feature request?

I find it sad when I see so many people purchasing transcription and speech to text apps, when it comes with Notability Plus. Otter, one of the most popular speech to text apps, wants $18 a month or $130 a year do something that Notability can already do for $20 a year plus so much more. I have been putting Notability through its paces and I must say it's doing a bang up job converting audio to text. I even have it converting podcasts when I want to extract excerpts for study.

I'm running Mac and the typing speed (and especially backspace speed) is INCREDIBLY laggy –– worse than any other app I'm using.

I also use the app on my iPad Pro and it has no problems.

Notability is the only app running on my MacBook Pro. Is this just a failure of optimization or is the app just bad?

Yea I have enough storage both on ipad and icloud. I decided to press icloud syncing after using it for a while. I decided to upgrade to ios 18 cause i read at their website it helps but it doesnt. im on 14.10.3. i have 1600+ notes prior.

Now, everytime I open my notes just keep loading forever. I added new notes to restart my notes that i did for 5 hrs and napped, when i wake up i opened the app and the notes disappeared. its not even on the recentlydeleted folder. idk what to do. can someone help me resolve this. im on the brink of breakdown my hardwork keeps diappearing.
