Finally! Need tips, plz

So, after over 200 incenses, I was able to get this. I was aiming for dex instead of str, but it wasn’t showing…

So now that I finally got a scroll that I can keep rerolling, I’ve got some questions:

  • is the ki regen on ult courage better than the flux gains on ult heart? My atk took quite a hit when I changed from heart to courage… also was used to having a full ki in flux 2

  • I don’t know if the fall on atk was the problem, but my ki damage in ult str doesn’t seem to have improved.

  • is Ruthless or Beast better? I also didn’t notice many gains in normal damage.

Thanks!

Ps: is ult dex worth it? Should I be focusing on 3 stats to get the best dmg output?

Lost all progress

Entered the game just to find out that I have to start a new game and my old file is gone. I have no idea why this happened because it’s just so sudden and I didn’t do anything. I’ve already contacted game support. Anyone of you had similar experience/ got back your game file? Man that was 16 hours of progress and I don’t want it to just end like that but I don’t have the energy to play through it again from beginning :(

Nioh 3 Elemental System idea

If there was a Nioh 3, there should be a way for all the elements to interact with each other, it was a very good idea from Wo Long.

So I would suggest this, Corruption would boost status ailments not caused by the 5 Elemental effects, and Purity would boost the 5 Elemental effects.

While you wouldn't have the pentagram of elements cancelling each other out, this is more to make sure that you aren't at a disadvantage for anything you choose.

However, Purity and Corruption would clear each other out.

Idea 1: Corruption and Purity would simply make the ailments effects they support infinitely lasting as long as they are active.

Idea 2: Corruption and Purity would boost their respective family of effects without changing their duration

Also, a bit out of line with the topic, you should be able to choose between Shiftling and Warrior, one using Yokai Abilities, and the other using Living Weapon.

Visiting for DOTN Eye of the Beholder

Found a video I recorded a few months ago from visiting for the final mission in the main story on DOTN. Thought this one was pretty cool so I wanted to share.

Depiction of Historical Characters in Nioh 1/2 (Spoilers included)

Team Ninja has a very interesting way of incorporating history into their games. Especially given the setting of Nioh, I think it would be interesting to discuss the depiction of Nioh characters compared to their historical counterpart. Certain characters seem demonized while others are heroes; I am curious why this is.

Some of the questions I want to cover based on your favorite characters:

  • What did your character accomplish?
  • Are their feats overblown?
  • What characters were the most interesting/accomplished historically?
  • Are any characters completely overhyped?

To start, I want to talk about the depiction of Benkei. As the faithful companion of Minamoto Yoshitsune, I thought the depiction of him as a Yokai was a cool way to represent a character more fiction than fact. He's not covered a lot in historical texts, making him more of a mythical legend.

Benkei was a warrior who would duel passerby on Gojo Bridge nightly. He gained 999 swords before Yoshitsune denied him his 1000th sword. He swore his loyalty to Yoshitsune after. Together, they went on adventures and worked together to defeat the Taira.

His death is notable as well. He apparently died standing after being shot by a hail of arrows. He died defending his master at the battle of Koromo River.

He's in a lot of various dramas over the Heian period, often being a beloved character by the audiences due to his loyalty. Given how much of his history is based in legend, I think Team Ninja did the character justice.

I look forward to discussion and hearing what you all think!

Getting destroyed in dream of the demon lol

Hello, so I’m about halfway through dream of the demon and some bosses are not completely impossible to me but some (especially human) feel like a raid boss. Is this just how it is from now or am I not utilizing stuff/suck. I’m like level 250 or so and my gear is all 170+11 or higher. I pretty much only use purification melee buff and the one that cleanses yokai pools.

Finally got Nioh 2 DLC

Hey!

Saw the season pass was on sale, took of work for this! Bought & installed all 3 separate dlcs and it doesn't show up in game...

I've unlocked/completed every mission in the entire base game so 100% in Ng and ng+. Title screen still says push triangle to purchase Dlc, if I do i get the prompt "This content is unavalible"

I'm on ps4 pro.

Tried so far:

Restarting Reseting licenses Re-downloading Re-installing everything.

All of the above x2 in different order....

No luck... Half my day of is already gone, and this game is so damn frustrating even when not even playing it... Never ever experienced this problem in any other game ever when buying dlcs...

Any ideas?....

Acala timely guard build with Odachi

Hello everyone I have this build idea in my head that odachi’s bolting boar skill can be used effectively with acala grace but I would like more timely guard bonuses as it only gives you auto life recovery (which a weird amount of sets give you idk why it doesn’t give increase attack)

So rock solid is a 7 piece set bonus so I’m looking for some combinations of 6 pieces that can enhance this build idea, obviously susano and elemental sets come to mind but what else is there and I’m absolutely okay with like 2 pieces here and 3 pieces there etc.

Thank you!

Wasted my $10 because I had no idea about DLC rules

Seriously I was so happy I bought the Season Pass for half its price then immediately got angry because what I had was a disc, a disc with a different region from my PS account..

I lost my fuel on coming back to this game. Is there any way for me to actually still be able to download my DLCs? None of em are appearing to be Downloaded or Purchased when I even press the feature in Nioh 2's main menu.

I hate you Sony

Nioh 1 - Very Confused Why I Should Upgrade Armor (NG+/DLC)

I recently finished WotSamurai in Nioh 1 and did the first 5 floors of the Abyss. I now have a decent amount of divine gear and just started the first DLC.

I had followed advice I read around here to not bother with most of the blacksmith functions until I started getting Level 150 gear. So, now I've been able to use forging/tempering/reforging/soul matching to make a pretty decent +4 divine weapon that's been quite helpful for the DLC.

Even after doing the first playthrough and a lot of googling/reading old Reddit threads, I'm *still* very confused on the value of armor upgrades - especially now that I can get Divine Armor +1/2/3/etc...Currently I just have a random assortment of Divine Armor equipped and as close to 70% weight to get the most damage reduction, which has been working out well.

My current understanding of armor is:

  • The damage reduction is significantly more important than the defense values (and I assume +Defense is the same as the Defense Multiplier on the armor)

  • Similarly, defense/defense multiplier seems quite useless? I had used level ~110 armor for the last few missions of WotSamurai, and I even experimented with bumping it to level ~150 (same type of gear, e.g. light -> light) which increased my defense by about ~200 and it resulted in me taking about...15 less damage from a single hit.

  • All armor will have always the same damage reduction % within its armor class (light/medium/heavy) regardless of level/rarity/divine+ level***

***With the exception that Divine Armor is a meaningful upgrade because it now has familiarity, so it actually has a non-trivial defensive advantage because the damage reduction goes up a bit. (In addition to getting an extra modifier of course). However, I compared a +1 light armor to a +2 light armor and they have the same damage reduction.

So, my primary question is - what is the point of upgrading my armor to a higher level (e.g. 150->160) or to a higher +level (e.g. Divine Light Armor +1 to Divine Light Armor +5)?

For a weapon, the answer is extremely clear - I get more damage. But for armor, it seems only the defense multiplier goes up...which seems almost worthless (unless I'm underestimating it here)

Essentially, I really want to forge my own armor and temper/reforge to get some good effects, but I'm wondering if there's any point in soul matching to get higher +levels.

Also open to any tips for good special effects to look out for on my armor - I don't really have a really specific build yet, so anything generic is fine. I tend to stick to dual swords in low stance with the mystic art that reduces damage (haven't gotten good about switching stances mid fight yet) and try to get status effects (e.g. lightning/wind/water) on bosses quickly.

Feel free to link me to any other threads/wiki pages - I've tried searching around on both but a lot of information either seems missing our outdated.

Re-Review of Nioh (2)

I had released a review a few days ago regarding how I felt about Nioh 2. I took the advice of the people who gave it and I would like to provide a new opinion.

For starters, I got up to Dream of the Nioh before giving up at DLC 2 side missions (completed on other difficulties). The grind for smithing texts and boss skills really drained the fun out of the game for me. Combined with some other issues, I just think this game isn't meant for me.

For starters, I really dislike the boss design. My favorite bosses were Yoshitsune, Benkei, Magara Naotaka, and honestly Imagawa. My least favorite were Yorimitsu, The spider dude in DLC 2, and Gods of Yomi. I also don't like the Dojo bosses. Human bosses with hyper-armor feels unfun to go against. I don't like having my combo interrupted with a move that, if done by the player, would be cancelled when hit. Yorimitsu was definitely the worst offender in regards to this. I hated the Vergil moves. It isn't a big deal, but I was confused when they genderbent the character as well. If anyone has a good explanation for this, please let me know.T he spider dude was just comically bad. You either one shot him or were one shot. Yomi was bad but I feel this is agreed by most.

The DLCs introduce a lot of enemies which are annoying. I like fighting the Yokai that give rewards when you hit their weak zones. When the weak zones take a waiting game (especially in a group fight), I just stop having fun. The crabs, the hags, the cheeked up blob dude, and the damn Itsumade are examples of enemies which sucked.

The gear management was tough even with the tips I was given. I found myself tilted after going through endless grinds for gear only to get nothing. Tempering gets better, but sucked early. It made build-crafting not something I wanted to experience. As stated before, grinding just wasn't fun for me. With the lack of a good wiki, I got frustrated with inconsistencies when I needed help.

The multiplayer was really only active at higher Dreams. This is whatever, the game has been out for years now. It just does not help the new player experience at all.

Onto the good. The bosses which were good were great. I fought Yoshisune well over 50 times grinding him for gear. Every time I died felt like my own mistake. Magara Naotaka was intense. It was a Yokai fight which allowed for some decently long combos while being pretty punishing. Definitely nailed the feeling of a dance. Benkei was a really cool character to read about. Fighting him was awesome! Unlike Yorimitsu, his incorporation of different weapons in a fight felt fun and fluid. Dodging the throwing weapons, the blades, and the splitstaff was just a blast. Imagawa never felt dishonest. Dodging the arrows and actually weaving in combos was sick. His melee wasn't particularly hard, but was fun to dance around.

The level design was better the more I played. Only a few areas were really awful, I hated running through Mausoleum of Evil's map for example. Tengu's disciple reminded me of Wo Long's ship map, so that was cool. Knowing the maps definitely helped with a lot of frustration in regards to ambushes. You learn and notice things that are added as you progress in difficulty. Going through and helping other players through their expeditions was awesome. I wish there was a text chat or something though, would be cool to make some new friends.

The splitstaff, the fists, the sword, and the hatchets were some of my favorite weapons. Originally I used the spear and while I still like it, I think I enjoyed the movesets of the other weapons more. The only weapon I really disliked was the Axe. It was just too clunky for me. Being able to customize and play around with elements was cool. Mixing in magic and ninjitsu was awesome. You can do some really flashy things in the game...but only in certain circumstances. Some fights really feel intended for when you have a set build, but when you have a build it can be a blast.

Lastly, soul cores are really cool. There could definitely be some improvements in regards to balance though. It was fun to experiment and explore combos with spirit guardians.

I am really mixed on this game. While the combat is some of the best of all time, the flaws in boss design and split philosophy really discourage me from playing more. Reading people who praise the combos and then give the same advice of sit back, do low stance lights, dash away and wait kinda pissed me off. I also had a SSD issue which resulted in lost progress, which just made me not want to play more (not the fault of the game). Being forced to replay parts of your save that you know you had gotten through was just tipping point.

The game goes from a 4/10 at the lowest points to a 9/10 at the best. I have anger issues when it comes to games, so I know I might be holding grudges at stuff I felt was unfair.

Sorry for the long read, I look forward to having some discussion. A lot of the community which spoke with me last time were just really cool people. If I didn't have to replay through so much of the game, I would love to co-op through and make friends.

EDIT: to clarify, I still like the game. I do get angry which is why it may sound like I hate it sometimes, but I think it is because I have a lot of passion for the game. The things that are good shine bright, the things I dislike really irk me.

I will revisit the game soon. I gotta get back to where I was. If anyone would like, I would be down to play with them and learn from them.

Magara Naotaka is an amazing fight

Now, I've done at least 3 playthroughs of Nioh 2 + DLCs, not including my Strong, Demon and Wise runs (I will get along to Dream of the Nioh someday). But I decided to restart my game so I could get accustomed to Splitstaff and Switchglaive, which I've never previously gotten the hang of properly. Playing through the game from the start with two weapons is my way of learning those weapons.

I just fought Magara Naotaka again and... He. Is. Incredible. I barely find time to come off of the Mid/Low stances, making High Stance hard to use because of his immense speed. Minamoto no Yoshitsune also does this for me quite well but Naotaka is such an early boss and still does this for me in an amazing way. Dodging through his attacks feels right to me while using my different skills to counter each attack. I loved fighting him on my Dual Blades run and now while running Splitstaff he felt absolutely amazing as well.

Tl;dr I think Naotaka is a great early game boss for teaching and using Mid/Low Stances.

Nioh 1 Controller Drift Error — PS5

Just purchased / downloaded Nioh 1 to PS5 Console. I noticed that there's a strange controller issue. Any time I turn right, and the camera is at a specific angle/perspective, the character then continues walking in that direction for a few seconds. If I'm holding the blocking button while creeping in that direction, the character will continue to move indefinitely. Even though this issue was peculiar and frustrating, it wasn't so much of an issue until I got to a specific water level where foot placement was entirely vital.

Some call this controller drift. Apparently this issue is "well known", and so many have commented on this specific issue with Nioh 1, but all / most all of the solutions are the same. I don't have this issue with any other games and all of the recommendations still didn't work, unfortunately. I tried the following: compressed air to remove debris from joystick housing (wasn't dirty), different controller, reset controller, turn off Console, exit game, joystick twist clockwise and counterclockwise and press, button mapping / configuration.

To me, it seems likely that there's some error coming from the game itself. Nioh 1 is a PS4 game, but I'm playing it on the PS5, along with the latest and newer PS5 controllers. Also, this is PS Plus digital download.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated!
