Got to see them open for Molly Tuttle a couple years ago. They were great and super nice guys. I've been waiting for them to show up at The Fort!
Think we’re getting a week of Sunday announcements? Speculation for a headliner?
Everyone’s new-to-you are of course going to be different depending on both your preferences and how “with it” you are with NFF and newer/smaller acts, but what are you digging so far?
I have to admit, I was disappointed when I saw the Oh Hellos announced because I was hoping for a Sunday announcement I’d heard of after a long week. And, when I saw they were associated with some Christian themes, I worried I couldn’t relate. However, listening more to them and seeing some live videos of theirs, they’re now up there for me, and I really hope they’re not scheduled when my must-sees are on. 🤞
Some other honorable mentions: Tre Burt, LA LOM, Friko, maybe Wednesday.
I’ve been seeing some videos of her recent performances popping up on my feeds…and she’s pretty great, and checks a lot of the boxes. Soulful rock by unexpected Hollywood star that could draw some attention. It’s just surprising and intriguing enough to happen I think?
What is going on with the Sunday lineup? Hope they have a flood of Sunday announcements coming.
Is staying at the Rodeway Inn in Middletown RI doable for the festival? Is this a safe area to stay with a two year old? Sorry for the questions it’s our first time at the festival. Much love to the community!
This is a mess and will eat up all my money😔
Basically where and how do u recommend going back and to the festival?
Happy to see this headliner band added to the lineup. They have a pretty great light show and I enjoy their tunes.
I keep hearing Jazz Fest has such a stellar lineup this year. Yet when I look at the folk festival there are maybe 16 artists I'd be excited to see and happy to see most of the rest. At the jazz festival, there's maybe 2 I'd be excited to see, and 5 I'd be curious to see.. So what do you think makes it so good?
Hoping she winds up performing music as well!
You're making it too easy to skip sets this year, Newport. Too easy.
Dropkick Murphy's + Billy Bragg on Saturday...leading to a tribute jam on Sunday,
I’m a local and have been to many NPFFs. An annual theme is that I go wanting to see a few acts in particular, but end up discovering and absolutely adoring other, usually smaller, acts. They are always the highlights of my weekends every single year.
Not once have I left thinking “Wow that headliner was the knockout show of the day” or held tickets because of the final act on Sunday. My core folk memories are consistently the lesser knowns. I am saying this not to bag on the quitters, but just hope that they realize they may be missing out big time.
Looks like they are back in full form
I’m traveling across the globe for this festival mostly for her, yall think her set will be long, she was the first artist announced I think.
There were only 2 artists (well , 3 because of Palmyra, but only because one of the artists' moms needed tickets) I'd even heard of on Sunday, compared to 6 each on Friday and Saturday. Now, that doesn't mean the other artists are bad, but it's been an especially weak month for Sunday IMO.
Is anyone else with Sunday-only tickets getting serious FOMO?
Has anyone been able to purchase parking at Ft Adams for Folk 2024? How? Unlike past years there is no link to parking passes in advance! Was able to purchase parking for Jazz Fest online. All info appreciated.🙏🏻
Langhorne never disappoints
There's been some disappointment in the lineup over maybe the past month? Who are you hoping for that doesn't have any conflicts or isn't too big for Newport? Or what types of acts do you hope to see more of?
I'd love to see a little more of modern bands inspired by regional or world music, like Creole, Klezmer, regional Mexicano, etc. So far, it's really only Tinariwen, plus LA LOM and maybe Reyna Tropical that kind of fit that.
As for who I'd specifically like to see, given the Flaming Lips could fit in Sunday, that would be my biggest wish. Maybe a band coming off a 20th anniversary tour, like Modest Mouse or the Postal Service?
Did anyone take this a while ago? What did you say? Did anyone follow up with you?
