Newark is the largest city in New Jersey with over 310,000 residents. In recent years, the city has experienced strong population growth and massive reinvestment and revitalization. This subbreddit exists for all those who live, learn, work, and/or play in Newark--as well as for those who are just generally interested in the city!

Which scooter program do you like better? I started with Bird because I thought I saw more Bird scooters around than Veo scooters, but I'm curious if anyone has a more systematic approach. I still haven't tried Veo yet.
Some factors worth considering:
Is it better to just get both apps and use whichever scooter is closest? Are there any major differences between Bird and Veo besides the (in my perception) relative lack of Veo scooters compared to Bird?
Lmk your thoughts!
Hey guys, I’m getting pretty frustrated with how long it’s taking for NJ to build this bike/walk path which I believe is greatly needed. Also, the current plan is to build the path only from Newark to Kearny. Sorry but who wants to go to Kearny? It should first connect Branchbrook park to Montclair. That would allow us in Newark to go to those greener areas away from the city without a car rather than risk our lives on roads with pot holes and no shoulder. And it would also allow the runners and bikers in towns like Montclair and surrounding areas to have easy access to branchbrook park and maybe alleviate the need for car parking there. And it would benefit Newark economically a lot more.
Can we form some group and put pressure on NJ DEP to speed up the job? I’m pretty sure the bridges are okay the way they are currently to hold the weight of pedestrians.
Just a quick update, from my trusted sources (attorney) Arc Tower is still moving forward but will officially move forward once the design changes. I don’t have many details on why it’s being redesigned but I hope it’s a good design, I hope it doesn’t add any ugly ass podium to the base. If it’s going to be taller because of the recent competition great, if it’s going to be smaller than its current height then that sucks. Lastly I really hope it doesn’t have to go through any historic board because that will suck!!!!!!
For those who use buses/trains that connect Essex and Hudson County (e.g. 1, 108, PATH, NJT trains, 30/40/76 to Kearny): https://www.njtransit.com/newbushudsonsurvey
Could someone please explain to me how to get to the Amtrak portion of Newark Penn Station and how to check in and check my bags? I have anxiety and I’ve never taken a train before. I’ll be in Newark for business then taking the Acela to Boston to visit a friend and I’m very nervous I won’t be able to find my train. I think I’d feel better if I had a general idea of what to do. Are there employees there to help point you in the right direction?
TIA
My biggest question is do I have to prepay or can we find a place to park when we get there?
It’s been almost 13 years since I’ve been, my uncle mentioned something about seton hall having a parking garage
Anyway just wanted to know if that was a good bet.
Thanks!
What are the annoying reasons you can’t stand those types of electric transportation? And would you be open for a better alternative? I would love to know how much they annoy you.
For me, i hate how damaged and janky they ride sometimes.
Repost, I had added a previous version of the flyer. This is the most current version.
I was staying in Jersey City and in an Uber to Newark Airport around 915-930pm when we saw a horrific motorcycle accident on us-1 or us-9? I’m not sure which highway as I’m not local to Jersey.
Did this event make the news and did the female make it? It’s been on my mind all night
I’ve recently relocated to Newark from the south & ppl are constantly chilling in front of other peoples homes every night. Is this the norm?
Hey everyone!
I’m graduating this December and looking for someone to take over my lease at University Center, right on campus. Here are the details:
• Location: University Center (On-Campus)
• Type: 2 Bed, 2 Bath (shared space)
• Rent: $860/month
• Availability: Starting mid-December or as soon as I move out after graduation
• Lease Duration: Remainder of the lease term (we can discuss the details)
• Perks: The apartment is super clean, bright, and gets plenty of natural light. Great living environment!
This is a great option if you’re looking for on-campus accommodation or planning to move in soon! It’s super convenient for classes, close to campus amenities, and the roommates are friendly and respectful.
If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me or drop a comment!
Thanks! 😊
I'm a born and bred local. Went to Boston College and came back to my city. Who else here is a local?
I'm looking for recommendations for a caterer in Newark for light breakfast bites like quiches, muffins, mini croissants, mini bagels, charcuterie, orange juice, cranberry, apple juice, coffee, teas and water.

Based on a post about a particular treat, it made me want to know what everybody's favorite restaurant or dish in a restaurant is here in Newark! Would love to see all kinds of different foods from different cultures, this is something the city is rich in! Post yours!!
A group of Trump supporters just handed this to me as I was walking on Broad Street.
I've seen guys there consistently in the past few weeks, and it's been going HAM.
The new windows and exterior look great!
