WHHYYYYYY DID NETFLIX CANCEL THIS?

I am loving this show right now. Most tv shows arent always an instant hit and this is what NF doesnt understand. I think its also kinda the people's fault as they thought it would be like The Office but space And it wasnt so they stopped watching it. The show was finally going to a good direction. The audience was just starting to have a connection with the characters and then BAM, Cancelled.

Can we talk about the group of generals?

Like the amount of talent gathered in a room to play off each other for those scenes is amazing. Seriously unexpected pairings but they work so well together.

What’s the music in the credits of mad (buff) confidence?

Netflix subtitles just describe it as jaunty music

I loved this show. Why did everyone else hate it?

As someone who didn’t watch space force till December of 2022. Im confused on why people think it sucked and why it got cancelled especially on the biggest cliffhanger i’ve EVER seen. As someone who grew up with a shitty ass air force dad who dipped a lot, i found the show comforting? You can see he really does love his kid and his wife. Even if he made them move away from their lives. We never even get to learn WHY she’s in jail. I love how the characters absolutely hate each other in the beginning, and as the show progresses they naturally fall into each others worlds and learn to get along. Yes i can see where it’s pretty fucking stupid but as someone who grew up around that world ITS TRUE ITS FUNNY ITS CHARMING. I felt like i was in on the biggest inside joke. and maybe that’s why a lot of people didn’t really get it. i feel like this show had a lot of potential and even with the ending being the world ending they could’ve done a Dont Look Up kind of scene where they all come together with their family’s and die while the world ends 🤷🏻. They left the show with so many holes and questions and that’s just so disappointing. I’m hoping someone agrees.

Space Force linked to the movie "Behind Enemy Lines" 2001.

In space force, General Mark Naird says that he was shot down over bosnia and had to survive off some rather grim food. In the movie "Behind Enemy Lines" that is exactly what happened. Lt. Chris Burnett was shot down over Bosnia and had to survive for I think it was 10 days. The movie and Nairds backstory are shockingly similar. Nevertheless, it could just be a complete coincidence but they do resemble some sort of link.

Why is Netflix canceling space force even though it’s their fault season 2 sucked

They cited the budget and Made the second season shorter and it had less story. Seaso 2 should have been like Season one if it was it would be canceled. And why with the stupid asteroid Netflix this is all your fault. Yet you fund a traumatic serial killer show about jeffery which traumitizied Evan peters the family’s and tons of other people. Fuck you Netflix

Does General Naird determine whether or not a hostile alien civilization sent the asteroid to hit Earth (again) in the next Season?

If you're interested in a sort of 'follow-up,' there's another show that can substitute as a sort of a spiritual successor or continuation of the asteroid plot

With Season 2 ending on the cliffhanger with the asteroid, and there being on Season 3, something that might fill the void for some is another show called You, Me, and the Apocalypse.

It's a show that begins with...an asteroid headed to Earth. I came across it after I saw Don't Look Up and wanted more and boy did the show ever deliver. One of my favorite shows of all time now.

And in addition to the plot similarities, it should also be of interest to Space Force fans because it's got Jenna Fischer, Megan Mullally, & Rob Lowe in it.

Fair warning, though - it also ends on a cliffhanger and was cancelled :(

Any theories behind Erin being called "Scraps"?

Seeing as the show has been cancelled and we'll probably never get any official answer, does anyone have any theories on why her classmates were calling her that?

This is something that will drive me nuts for quite a while.. far too many shows get cancelled without tying up loose ends.

Hi everyone! I was looking to buy a Space Force T-shirt on Amazon that I have saved on my list a few weeks ago and all the merch seems to be gone. Any idea of why? Thanks!

Weird. Dumbing down the show couldn't save it.

The game plan for season 2 was obviously to dial back the philosophizing and satire and instead dumb the show down and make a silly workplace comedy. Fine.

The irony is fascinating. Many people hated Season 1 because it wasn't a silly workplace farce and they weren't in the mood for a slower burning fanciful style of humor. Plus, a lot of people genuinely did not want references to anything resembling left-wing politics. Or as those folks would say it "it wasn't very funny."

So Netflix freaks out and slashes the budget and brings in a new showrunner to create the show the haters claimed they wanted to see but then not enough haters came to the party to keep the show alive. That is incredible.

Just such tragedy to build such great characters with surprisingly complex storylines and watch them grow before our eyes in season 1 then completely regress and cease all forms of growth or change while just cutting out or leaving huge storylines to rot.

I guess what I don't get was why they didn't double down on what made the show unique and special. It seems like instead of pursuing balance they really picked that one lane and went with it.

Greg Daniel's show "Upload" does an incredible job of balancing character development, story, and the best dick jokes around. It can be done. He has shown us all he can do it. So what the hell happened with Season 2 of Space Force?

Space Force is NOT a COMEDY.

Watch it, there are some funny incidents and jokes, but in tone - please people, in tone only it is similar to something like the West Wing. It’s a workplace show in which some nice characters grow to work with each other and become friends. But, they don’t do funny jokes like the office or parks and rec, or even superstore.

I feel like the end of season one was legitimately funny, so I’m watching two for the same payoff. The character development is good though.

Anyone else notice all the Apple product placement? (Slight spoilers)

Everyone uses the latest iPhone 13, Dr Mallory uses Siri in the vending machine, airplay the kidney stone footage, fuck Microsoft?

A bit blatant imo

Erin questions

So Erin is supposed to be a 16-17 year old high school junior, right? So how are her schoolmates active duty space force? Why is she dating Yuri, a 20 something, with no objections from Naird or the law, and further, why does Duncan, an adult, pursue a relationship with her? I feel like they could’ve made it way simpler by just having Erin be an 18 year old senior, but as it stands it’s highly uncomfortable.

Firestick 4K is Dark, Anyone Else having this Issue?

Space Force, from the Netflix Logo to the show is very muted (dark) and I can't figure out why. I've asked in other forums, tried everything suggested... is it just the show? If you've fixed this please throw me a reply!

Just finished watching S2 and here are some things I wish the episodes unpacked more...

  1. When Dr. Lim says he doesn't remember the two young Spacemen who were on the spaceship with him... was that just supposed to show that the Chinese government told him to deny any events related to the moon debacle? Or did he genuinely not remember? Or does he, like Angela, have some form of PTSD that's messing with his memory?
  2. Erin's day trading. The writers casually drop that she made 14K and that her dad was mad about it, but that seems like an interesting story in and of itself. How did Erin, who is a typical HS senior quasi-underachiever, make the right stock calls to make that much money?
  3. The divorce. We know Mark got custody and that Mark and Maggie have some lingering tension over it. But why does Erin seem pretty fine about it? What happened to the S1 Erin who was hyper-emotional about the loss of her family? Maybe the Space Force is her new family and that's why she's less bothered by the divorce? Or was it just that a decent amount of time elapsed between episodes 4 and 5?
  4. The lunar battle. I'm gathering that the budget for s2 was too low to really show what went down on the shuttle and how the Americans and Chinese made it back to Earth together. The sparse references to this during s2 were unsatisfying.
  5. Angela's psychiatric issues. It's weird because I feel like this issue is over- and under-developed. It's over-developed because it is a pervasive problem throughout the season that Angela is battling and that Dr. Chan is trying to understand. But it's under-developed because Angela never seems to actually improve, except a little bit during the final episode. Like are we really expected to just watch Angela suffer and throw her clothes out the window without also knowing whether she is in therapy or getting some other type of help? It was kind of sad to watch, and I wish the writers had at least explored her mental health struggle beyond just its impact on her ability to sustain a romantic relationship with Dr. Chan. We do see her speech issues dissipate throughout the season, but again it's kind of a mystery.
  6. WHY IS MAGGIE IN PRISON??? This is obviously just a major annoying mystery in the show. This season seems to have settled on 20 years as her sentence, but I remember a S1 reference (maybe by Maggie herself) to 40 years. Maggie also makes a sardonic reference during the conjugal visit episode in S1 to "the right provocation." To me, this indicates that she was convicted for manslaughter, because provocation can mitigate murder to manslaughter. But the way Maggie gets to have a phone in the prison, the early conjugal visit, and the relatively lax security (like how is Erin able to casually jog with the inmates during rec time like that?) all indicate that she is NOT at a maximum security prison. And manslaughter convicts usually go to max security prisons.

Finally, I'll end with a prediction: if we get a Season 3, we will see POTUS pardon Maggie after some major act of bravery by Mark. Thoughts?

Why was dr Mallory stuck behind a the vending machines?

I might have missed the lead up, but I’m season two, episode 5 dr Mallory I’d stick between the vending machines. Afterwards there was no explanation for how he removed himself, but he rejoined the cast in the next scene, with nothing mentioned.

Can anyone shed any light?

It's really not funny anymore, just tell us what Maggie did.

I think the writers intended this to be a 'running gag' like an unseen character in other sitcoms (Maris - Fraisier) (Howard's Mom - Big Bang Theory).

In all honesty though, I don't think it's funny - it just pisses me off.

Instead of a running joke it feels like the writers are literally just taunting us like 'I know something you don't know! And I'm gonna keep reminding you but never actually tell you!'.

Just tell us, but let it be something hilarious and crazy (20+ years means someone definitely died).

Seriously though, it's not funny anymore, just tell us.
