Neo-Expressionism is a contemporary art movement that dominated the art world during the late 1970s and 1980s. Heavily influenced by German Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Expressionism was characterized by raw, expressive brushstrokes and a rejection of traditional composition.

SUB NOW REOPEN

I’m happy to announce that this sub is back open!

Unfortunately the previous mod had been inactive for over a year and had left the sub as restricted, resulting in new users being unable to post their art work.

I’ve taken over the sub from today onwards and have made new (hopefully better) alterations, including new rules, flairs and have changed the community type from restricted to public.

Moving forward you’ll be able to post anything regarding Neo Expressionism, from yours and others artwork, video links and have open discussions regarding this style of art.

If you have any suggestions on how to improve this sub please feel free to comment below and hopefully we can help grow this sub together.

Anyone familiar with Karel Appel?

Him and Willem De Kooning got some pretty sick paintings, very inspiring and worth checking out. PEACE

Welcome!

First and foremost, Hello Neo-Expressionist! This space was created because we noticed there was no other Neo-Expressionism subreddit, and the Contemporary Art subreddit doesn’t allow a place to showcase your talent to Collectors or other Artist. The only way that we’re able to work together, grow/build together is actually by getting familiar with one another!

When posting, please only upload your original artwork in the format of Title, Artist Name, Media, Year of creation. Don’t forget to include links to your artwork or information for where your art can be found! If you’re vending at a Pop Up Shop, let us know where! Live art show? Let us know! Artist, this is your space!

We will keep this updated as time goes by. For now, please remember to be respectful of one another and also, show love 🖤 to one another!!
