I Just wanted to say thanks for making me mod :) Will do my best.
I use chunkbase to find things... So I found the nearest nether fortress to my initial portal, travelled there overland - it was like 4k away. There was a ruined portal nearby, so I looted that, then made a portal near it (on the surface, at 61 as the ruined portal was at 35).
So all bright and bushy tailed I went thru the portal! and fell about 500 blocks into lava. swam to shore about 10 blocks away with low damage as I had just found and put on a gold helmet of Fire Resist IV. That thing saved my life. I looked up, and my portal was on top of the fortress, lava flowing over it and down one side. I dug into the fortress after making stairs up to it, fought a bunch of things, got to where the portal was.
It was 3 blocks from a blaze spawner, lava on both sides, one floing off the edge and the other flowing down the 'road' . I tried to get close to it but could not, so finally just blocked off a section of the fortress about 20 blocks away and got back to the real world.
It returned me about 320 blocks away, so I made a quick base, then transferred all my gear from the other base by the ruined portal to this new one. I also broke and dismantled the other portal as that was death incarnate.
I have not gone back thru this new portal, I only pray it stays connected to the portal in the fortress I made and not the one in lava on the pillar. :)
But I have to go back... I need blaze rods!
